Petit Vour is a monthly vegan beauty subscription box. It’s a great box if you’re looking to try out new vegan and/or natural beauty products.

There are two subscription options to choose from. The base Petit Vour box is $18.00 per month and the Petit Vour Plus box is $25.00 per month.

This is a review of the $18.00 per month box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

When you open the box the first thing you find is the information sheet, which lists the products included, their values, and a quick blurb about what they do. After that, you can always expect to find four products safely nestled inside the box waiting for you to enjoy. Right off the bat, I was excited to see a product from Earthwise Beauty inside- that's a skincare brand I have been wanting to try for quite a while!

The Breakdown

Evio Lip Serum, 10 ml - Retail Value $16

This lip serum triggered a memory for me- it feels like the more grown-up version of the lip balms and glosses I used to always buy from Bath and Body Works (that I haven’t thought of in years). This lip serum is formulated with Omega 3s, 5s, and 9s, and it also has hemp seed oil, peppermint oil, and shea butter. The peppermint oil gives a subtle tingle that I enjoyed, and this formula is thick and creates a seal on my lips while the finish looks a little glossy. I have issues with dry lips so I am always looking for the next lip product that may be able to help my lips woes, and this performed really well for me.

Three Ships Purify Aloe + Amino Acid Cleanser, 15 ml - Estimated Value $4.75 (buy the 60 ml version for 18.99)

I had no idea this brand was sold at Target! I was introduced to the brand through Alltrue and was happy to try this cleanser out. It has an incredibly thin formula- it's technically a gel cleanser, but it's so thin I would even call it watery. That's not a bad thing, but I did have to be quick about getting it on my face once I squeezed some in my hand to avoid spilling it. The formula features multiple amino acids, aloe, and probiotics, and it worked well for me as a gentle morning cleanser or second cleanse after using a cleansing balm. This definitely doesn't have the power to remove a full face of makeup, but I have plenty of other products for that.

Organic Riot Dazzle Serum, 10 ml - Estimated Value $11.24 (buy the 25 ml serum for $28.11 USD/$39.99 NZD)

Ooooh, a new to me skincare brand! It took some searching, but Organic Riot is actually a New Zealand-based skincare company, which is why I couldn't find it available on the typical US beauty retailer websites. This serum is made with licorice root extract and kiwi seed oil along with raspberry and tomato seed oil, and it's designed to even out discoloration and hyperpigmentation so your skin can ~dazzle~ (glow). I didn't see any noticeable brightening effects after a few days of use, but usually, you need a few weeks of use to actually see improvements with hyperpigmentation. What I can say is that it is lightweight, gently hydrating, and it layers well.

Kypris Illuminating Eye Serum + Primer, 1 ml - Estimated Value $8.89 (buy the 13.5 ml version for $120)

Kypris is a brand I really only see on Instagram used by fancy people. I’m interested in their products, but the formulas are way out of my budget. I was really happy to see a sample of theirs in this $18 beauty box! The packaging left something to be desired-its a tiny glass jar, so really the only way I can get the product out is by sticking a q-tip inside (and if my kitten jumps up on my vanity like he is prone to do, this little jar will never be seen again). All of that being said, this eye serum did what it was supposed to do- and it did it well. I patted the product along my orbital bone and under my eyes, and the skin definitely looked brighter and less tired thanks to the mica and whatever else magic is in this formula.

Derma-E Essentials Radiance Toner, 1 oz - Estimated Value $2.49 (buy the 6 oz version for $14.95)

Derma-E products are usually hit or miss for me, and I think this falls into the hit category. This is an exfoliating toner that is alcohol-free, and the glycolic acid is paired with hyaluronic acid and botanical extracts from aloe, cucumber, and rosehip. Those added ingredients keep this from being too strong for my sensitive skin, which is always my concern when trying out exfoliating products. For the price point, this is a solid performer.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $18

Cost Breakdown:

  • Evio: $6.64
  • Three Ships: $1.97
  • Organic Riot: $4.66
  • Kypris:  $3.69
  • Derma-E: $1.03

Everything in the box adds up to $43.37, which is a solid value for an $18 box that sends exclusively vegan beauty products. Alternatively, each of the 5 items has an average cost of $3.60.

Key Takeaways

I always look forward to my monthly Petit Vour delivery, but I'll be honest and say this month didn't wow me the way the August box did. Then again, it's hard to follow up the spectacular performance that was the August Box. I like that we still received a full-size product in the lip serum, and I appreciate that there were five products in the box this month instead of the typical four. The value isn't the highest I've ever seen (everything adds up to $43.37), but it's still two and a half times more than the cost of the box. I also think the user experience added some value you can't quantify with money- I enjoyed getting to try out the elusive Kypris Beauty and discovering the New Zealand-based band. If you try to focus on vegan beauty products (or have a friend who does), this is definitely a box you want to check out.
