Alltrue (formerly CAUSEBOX) is a $54.95 (or $49.95 per box with an annual subscription) quarterly subscription box that features brands and items dedicated to doing good all over the world. Many featured brands donate a portion of proceeds to charities and/or may employ local artisans, use ethically sourced goods, etc.

FYI: Only annual subscribers are able to choose customizations.

First Impressions

The colors of this box are so cute and very fall! I always enjoy the artwork from this brand.

The Items

Customization 1: Silicone & Beechwood Measuring Spoon Set - Retail Value $12.59

FYI: Annual subscribers can choose from this item or Natural Wool Dryer Balls or Grown Alchemist Hydra Repair Day Cream.

I actually had a set of measuring spoons on my to-buy list since Will recently used my old set for paint pigments and now I am terrified of poisoning myself by using them ever again. This set is actually much cuter than my old one and I have already clearly explained to Will that these do not leave the kitchen. Ever.

Anyway, I love the soft blues and greens and the silicon material is sturdy and easy to clean too! The largest spoon (a tablespoon) is made of wood.

Customization 2: Henny + Lev Vegan Leather 2-in-1 Everyday Tote- Retail Value $130

FYI: Annual subscribers can choose from this item or a Set of 5 Stackable Pantry Containers from Small:Hours or Tease Smart Heated Mug or an Earth Harbor Seas the Day Luxury Skincare Bundle or an LSTN Wanderlust Portable Speaker.

Most of you know I am not a faux-leather fan in most cases but I will make an exception for this purse for one main reason: it is big enough for my laptop! I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro and it slides in easily. A little bit overlaps the top but I am fine with that. Inside is plenty of room for a few books, a notepad, and a pen case. There are also some internal pockets. As far as pleather goes, this stuff is thick and feels pretty good. It also had none of that chemical scent we so often associate with the fake stuff. This is exactly the sort of bag I reach for when I am on the go for business things but need the room and durability of a backpack. This offers a ton of space and strength but with a more polished look.

Will is out of town right now so I am left to taking timed selfies. This bag measures about 12.5 inches tall and 14 inches across.

Customization 3: Mintbiology Seaweed Collagen Gold Eye Masks, 10 pairs - Retail Value $34.99

FYI: Annual subscribers can choose from this item or a Bemakai: Manta Hair Towel Wrap.

I always enjoy having eye gels on hand because sometimes your undereye area just needs this sort of treat! These are a metallic gold gel and have a slight rose scent. They have 24k gold, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and oat peptides inside which together hydrate and soothe. As usual, I recommend popping them into your fridge before use!

Customization 4: Each Layering Necklaces

FYI: Annual subscribers can choose from this item or Headbands of Hope: Set of 2 Knotted Headbands or Aloette Cosmetics Winkable Lift & Lengthen Vegan Mascara.

I am all here for the dainty layered trend that jewelry is experiencing now, though, in my opinion, the pieces have to look high quality to have the most impact. And, sure, I can't be out spending $$$ on actual gold chains, so plated versions make a good financial choice. The quality with these is lacking, IMO, especially on the smaller chain. It gets kinks constantly and just doesn't look super luxe on, regardless of the 14k gold plating. The larger, open-chain gets closer to the sort of quality I would want and I decided to remove the extender which helped immensely in terms of styling. I will probably wear that one often (I haven't noticed any turning or green on my neck after a few days).

The smaller chain measures 16 inches (19 with the extender) and the larger is 18 inches (21 with the extender).

Customization 5: Accompany Jute Welcome Mat

FYI: Annual subscribers can choose from this item or Botanica Speckled Ceramic Candle or a Serene House Ion Fan Diffuser & Inspire Essential Oil.

I have never been one to go all out for fall decorating. I just don't usually think about it until it is too late! I do, however, change out my welcome mats and this jute one is really freaking cute. I appreciate how it feels fall because of the material but is also minimal. While it is a pretty standard doormat size, I plan on layering it with a slightly larger rubber one to keep it dry and (hopefully) cleaner.

It measures about 26 inches by 16 inches.

In Every Box: Huna Vegan Nourish Skin Nutrition Balm, 1.7 fl oz - Retail Value $80.00

FYI: This item will be in every box.

The retail price of this stuff feels really high, even to me. Aside from those price-related feelings, I loved the formula itself. I am a big fan of moisturizing balms like this and I often use them as cleansers (which I highly recommend you try!). The sunshine yellow balm is formulated with so many delightfully lipid-rich and antioxidant-heavy oils and tons of plant extracts and vitamins. Despite this, it still somehow feels light on my skin, though it does leave behind a sheen that might make it feel more appropriate for evening use. It also makes an absolutely incredible cuticle oil and smells wonderfully bright, of citrus and lavender.

Art Print

And in every box, Alltrue includes a postcard print you can mail or frame. This one features a fruity motif in autumnal colors.

Verdict

This season's Alltrue did feel very "fall"! I liked the mix of all sorts of items (beauty, home, fashion). I also think this was a pretty good value for $55 and even the items that might not fit into your home or closet will make great gifts. The average cost of the 6 items in this box is $9.16 (I did not include the art print in this calculation). I do think there were some slight quality issues with the necklaces, but I feel like subscription box jewelry can be really hit or miss in general. I still would have liked to have seen something nicer. The purse was a surprising hit for me in terms of safely hauling stuff to and from work and school and, if I am honest, the fact that it isn't real leather makes me feel like I can treat it a little less carefully in terms of rain or dark denim that might rub off. The mat was such a cute and fun addition and it makes me smile. I will guard the measuring spoons with my life (watch out Will) and the balm was also a treat!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

My winter box is scheduled to arrive in March…like literally it arrives in the spring. Comical. Read the reviews and do NOT get the annual subscription right off the bat. Even if it’s a deal, the anticipation of something that comes long after the excitement has left the building is more annoying than it’s worth. That is all.

My Fall box arrives today – Dec 1. It included spoons, a candle, hair wrap, mascara, and a box set from Earth Harbor. I do not think this is correct? Hairband said? Jewelry? Welcome Mat? Cannister Set? NONE Of the above were in the box. I would like to speak directly with someone please and thank you.

Hello! I just signed up for the Black Friday deal. If I don’t upgrade, can I make any customization choices?

I have been trying to cancel my subscription for months. I thought I had but now this month I received two of the exact same boxes which I will be charged for. I do not want these boxes. I have never received anything that I can use. I have emailed them before. Can someone tell me how to get out of the subscription!

I was an early subscriber to Causebox, and let my membership lapse for a while. I went back to it despite all of the bad reviews because I thought they were cranky, because my early experiences had been pretty good. They really have changed, and it’s impossible to cancel. It’s not just the delayed shipments (you’ll get your package in the right season, just at the very end of the actual season – like early September for summer), it’s the lack of customer service. I really would advise anyone to go with a different box with higher reviews. These products don’t feel like anything I would buy on purpose, and the whole experience is mostly frustrating, not the “treat” it’s supposed to be.

TJ, I totally agree with you. I am disappointed in the changes from Causebox (did enjoy getting the boxes prior to the change) and am thinking of cancelling especially after looking at the choices for the Winter box.

I haven’t yet received my box. I clicked on the tracking number and Fedex stated that it didn’t exist. I contacted them but have received no reply.

Same here. Something is not right with this company.

Did you choose the bag? Apparently of you chose that after a certain time there was a really small asteric saying it would ship in November. I am an annual and apparently must have switched my pick to this after that time because I hafta gotten shipping notice yet. Ugh.

Oi, is there any way to delete my posts here? It was my mistake, because I had separate orders that were a few months ago, I had simply forgotten. I will be getting my box with my addons, scheduled for delivery tomorrow and thank you 🙂

Robin

please disregard my posting, the box i received today was from an order that I placed last August, not my fall box. It was almost 3 months ago, so I had forgotten. My sincere apologies

Robin

Do NOT order this box, you will not receive any of the items you choose. Here is my letter to AllTrue today (I locked in my choices within minutes of choices becoming available, months ago, for the fall box and even upgraded to annual member to ensure I’d be able to choose)

HI there, I am writing to you today because I upgraded to an annual account and chose my items on the first day that they were available to choose from for the fall box. (within minutes of choice becoming available)

I ordered:
HENNY + LEV
Vegan Leather 2-in-1 Everyday Tote
($13EACH JEWELS
Layering Necklace Set
($42 value)0 value)
GROWN ALCHEMIST
Hydra Repair Day Cream
($49 value)
ACCOMPANY
Jute Welcome Mat
($38 value)

Instead I got:

a Feed bag (that I already received in a past box)
some sleep spray (that I already got in a past box and dont like it)
some resurfacing mask ((that I dont like)
a copper bracelet (that I won’t wear, I dont wear bracelets, even to work as I am a nurse)
and some rubber lids (which I already received in a past box)

Can you please help me to understand the reasons that i did not receive ANY of my choices even though I locked my choices in on the first day?

I waited and was patient even though my box was very late and was very excited to be able to use my new things. Now I have a bunch of stuff I already had, and didnt even like some of the items. Can you please at least send me the Henry and Lev tote I chose?

If not, is there any possibility of getting a refund for the remainder of my annual subscription?

Thank you for your time and I will await your response, Robin

I bought a couple extras for my box and I received the box and not the extras. Is that normal?

Izzie

Yes, they ship separately. I’d say consider yourself lucky you got your box this early!

Oh, come on! I’m sure a bit of lead is okay! 😆

I can’t wait to see the comments of people freaking out who picked that awesome bag and won’t be getting their box with it until – I think a message said late November? I picked it and I guess I missed the small print about that. I really don’t recall seeing it. Anyone else?

Reply ButtonReply

Cynthia

The fine print popped up later during customization and only affected those who customized after a certain date. If the message wasn’t up when you customized then you should receive you box on time. Of course this is CB so boxes will show up whenever and not necessarily according to their schedule.

Shannon

Yeah, never know with them lol. I switched from the mug (after all the alibaba posts) to the tote and never got anything saying it’s ship later and still haven’t had mine ship. Ugh.

Lauralee

I’m so fickle on everything, and Alltrue falls right into that personality flaw/highlight. I need wool dryer balls and that small, flimsy doormat is cute…but for $55? Oh wait, they’ve already charged my card. I won’t get them until Dec and I can’t choose what I want unless I pay for an annual membership, but I don’t love this box enough to commit.

Melinda

I don’t understand the box art or the art print. That isn’t the box art promised. Why is this different from the spoilers? Also, I received that art print in my summer box. What is going on with this subscription???

Claire

Hi Megan, quarterly subscribers can customize 4 and 5. It may be confusing because you wrote that only annual subscribers get to choose. My #4 choice is the knotted headbands. The necklaces looked too cheap. #5: the candl, but after your review of the mat I may change this.

Interesting! According to their site “At the moment, the Alltrue custom tool is only available to Annual Members, as one of the perks of making a pre-paid, longer term commitment to the membership — the quality and the products are the same for Quarterly and Annual Members, but our team chooses the color/style of the choice products for our Quarterly Members!” so I was erring on the side of caution. I didn’t customize this box.

That being said, let me reach out to the Alltrue team and double confirm. I am glad you had some choices either way though and thanks for raising this! I’m off to do some detective work!

Claire

Megan, it looks like it’s different for everyone. It’s confusing because some weren’t able to customize at all, whereas some such as myself could make two choices. I’m happy about that.Did you find out what the policy is and has it changed?

Drue

I can also confirm that I also had two choices (4 and 5) available to me and I just got the quarterly box! I think this might be something new…
