Wantable is a monthly personalized style subscription box service that sends you seven expertly curated items based on an in-depth quiz.

In order to get your one-of-a-kind style box, you must first take an online quiz to narrow down your style preferences. Choose between three of Wantable's Edits: Women's Style, Women's Active, and Men's Active before beginning the questionnaire. The quiz asks a range of questions: what type of clothing do you wear, preferences on fabrics, patterns, colors, fit--everything you could think of to help define your personal style.

Once the quiz is complete, a stylist is assigned to your account and begins curating your Edit. Creating your Edit comes with a $20 styling fee, but that fee goes towards any items you decide to keep once you receive your box. When you receive your box you'll have 5 days to decide what you want to keep for purchase and what you want to return. They also offer free returns and pick-ups.

This is a review of my personal "Women's Style" Edit.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Wantable Experience

Before getting into the products I received in my Edit, I think it'd be helpful to give you an idea of what I answered for my style quiz. I consider myself a neutrals gal who loves to be comfortable above everything else. I like items that are body-hugging but lean on the athleisure-chic side. I said that they could send me jeans although I had zero faith in them fitting since I have a smaller waist and wider thighs, making online shopping for jeans a nightmare.

With all this in mind, my stylist, Lauren, got to work and sent me seven items based on the in-depth quiz. She sent me a sweet note with some tips on how to style the graphic tee and midi dress, which added a nice personalized touch. The overall price of my style Edit came to $200--how much of that I kept was up to me and my thoughts on the pieces. Let's get started:

Curve Hem Midi Dress in Clay by Pretty - Retail Value $46.00

This clay midi dress was by far one of my favorite pieces in my Edit. It's a light fabric perfect for summer and into early fall and it can easily be styled from day to night. My stylist Lauren recommended I dress it down with a denim jacket for daytime and spice it up with some accessories for a night on the town! I will definitely be adding this casual yet flirty number to my closet.

Makani Sunglasses in Tortoise Purple by Sunski - Retail Value $58.00

In my quiz I noted that accessories were important to me--they can make or break an outfit. I'm so happy these sunglasses were included in my Edit, for fashion and practical purposes. I have blue eyes, and they're very light-sensitive, so sunglasses are a must whenever I'm outside. These sunnies by Sunski are not only classically cool with their tortoiseshell frames, but they also have polarized lenses to reduce glare. Bonus: Sunski is an independent brand based in San Francisco, all of its frames are made from recycled material, making them cute and easy on the planet.

wantable style edit high rise shorts

High Rise Utility Bermuda in Pine by Kensie - Retail Value $58.00

These pine-green Bermuda shorts by Kensie are a fun fashion item totally out of my comfort zone. I usually stick my wide range of biker shorts and the occasional denim shorts during the warmer months--they're comfortable and flattering on my body type. When I tried these shorts on I was so happy they were high rise, I feel secure and they hit me in all the right places. I'll definitely be adding these shorts into my weekly rotation to give my outfits a much-needed refresh from the same three biker shorts.

wantable high rise jeans

Frankie High Rise Crop Straight in Blake Island by Dear John - Retail Value $88.00

I mentioned earlier how jeans are my online shopping nemesis-- 9/10 times the jeans are either too small to get up my thighs or if they manage to slip on past my legs, they're far too big around my waist. I was hesitant to request jeans but figured I'd give it a go since I gave info on my jeans sizing and body type in the quiz. I'm so happy with these high-rise jeans from Dear John. They are totally on-trend with the high-rise waist and cropped straight leg cut. The distressing on the denim adds a fun texture and pairs great with a casual tee or a nicer top for a night out. The fit is perfect around my legs and while there's a little space around the waist, it's nothing a belt can't remedy.

wantable tank top

Dolly Tank Sugar-Sea Blue/Cloud by Camp Collection - Retail Value $36.00

If you're in need of an elevated basic tank top then the Dolly Tank from Camp Collection is for you. I love simple tank tops like this layering purposes and I love how this tank has a sea blue lining for a little pop of color. While I prefer a more tightly hugging tank, I can appreciate the flowy structure of this top and think it's perfect for lounging, exercising, and any outdoor activities. I think this top would also be great as a swimsuit cover-up for the beach since it's easy to throw on and won't cling to a wet suit post-dip.

wantable utility jacket

Utility Jacket in Pebble by Kensie - Retail Value $68.00

Light jackets other than a classic denim jacket are essential for fall and spring. This utility jacket from Kensie is a great neutral option that can go with almost any daytime fit. I love having these types of lighter jackets just in case it gets chillier at night and they offer another color and texture so you can avoid the denim on denim look. This jacket fits me perfectly, however, I do prefer a slightly oversized fit for my jackets, which I should've mentioned in my quiz because Wantable will cater to your sizing requests--I goofed but this jacket is incredibly cute.

wantable go west crop

Go West Graphic Tee in Rust by Polagram - Retail Value $44.00

I must say, I love a good graphic tee. They're perfect to pair with leggings, shorts, or jeans and do all of the talking for your fit. Getting a little chilly? Just throw on a flannel for an easy vintage vibe. This graphic tee from Pologram is insanely soft. The kind of soft that will make you want to wear your tee all day and then transition it into pajamas. I love how soft and light the fabric is and the rust color is a perfect pop to add to my neutral wardrobe.

Unfortunately, I hail from the east coast and therefore can't see myself reppin' a shirt encouraging a move out west, so I'm not sure this shirt will stay with me permanently, but I will definitely be checking out Pologram for graphic tees that are more up my alley.

Verdict: Overall, my experience with the Wantable Style Edit box was great! It shipped quickly, I felt like all of the pieces matched my quiz results, and I love how thoughtful Lauren's styling was based on my requests. Aside from the items in the box, I also love that they provide not only a shipping label to send items back, but also the packaging! I can't tell you how many times I've kept items I don't like simply because I couldn't be bothered to go to the post office and package up items (I know I'm not the only one!). They make it so easy for you to return unwanted items and exchanges are also a breeze.

Wow, these comments…
Thanks for the review! That’s a nice dress! The shirts are out of my price range though.

If you want to keep MSA readers from flocking elsewhere, please take a look at the reviewers who expended effort to make a personal connection with readers. Like Nicole for one. We want to see the clothing on the reviewer, unless they didn’t fit of course. This on-the-hanger style is boring and looks like a catalog, not a person’s review.

Bravo!! My thoughts exactly.

It’s crazy to post a review like this without showing what the items look like on.

While I appreciate the detailed review of each item, the overall review itself feels wildly inaccurate. At the top, you write “The overall price of my style Edit came to $200–how much of that I kept was up to me” and then at the bottom “The total retail value of the items inside was $398.”

No 20% discount or application of the $20 styling fee cuts the overall price in half.

Also, it really helps for the reviewer to model the clothing items, list the size, and whether or not the reviewer felt the item runs small, large, or just right. Without that personal touch, we’re not seeing anything we couldn’t see online or from a catalog.

Sorry.

Definitely a phoned-in review. And apparently on a phone with no camera.

Agreed. A clothing subscription review without a try-on is pretty lackluster.

I am so glad that MSA is reviewing Wantable edits again. I still remember years ago, probably six or seven years, when MSA reviewed all the Wantable edits, not sure they were called edits back then, and it was one of the boxes that got me hooked on subscription boxes in general. It seems like the company has made some improvements for the recent reviews of edits I’ve seen, have offered very nice items, really take into account people’s comments and profiles and will keep the price range low if that is what you requested. Marisa, thank you for the detailed review. I love the first dress and the Kensie jacket. I bet they would send you a larger size if you ask. Almost all the items you received are really nice. The sun glasses are awesome!!
