The Allure July New Member Bonus Gift Box

This box included an info card.

Here is a quick overview of the items inside and some of my first impressions:

Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in '405 Sultan', 6.5 mL – Full Size! Retail Value $38.00

Is there a perfect liquid formula? If you like a soft velvet finish with full coverage and zero dryness, this might be it. And this warm red is one of those shades that is perfect for a transition from summer to fall.

I absolutely love this.

Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara, 2.5 mL - Estimated Value $8.13 (buy a full size 8 mL for $26.00)

This is a solid mascara that is pretty dramatic. The curved brush provides lift while the black formula adds volume and a great curl to my straighter lashes. It lasted all day on my lashes without any flaking or eye irritation.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium, 7.5 mL - Estimated Value $19.00 (buy 30 mL for $76.00)

I mean, Black Opium is a freaking classic. It is sexy, heavy, and you can't ignore it. While it might not be everyone's cup of tea, I love heady scents like this. If you like notes of burnt vanilla, coffee, spices, dirty florals, and a woodsy backbone, this is one you have to try.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in 'Zero', 0.03 oz - Estimated Value $16.50 (buy a full-size 0.04 oz for $22.00)

While I personally could go the rest of my life without another black eyeliner in a subscription box, if I have to get one, at least it is this one. If you prefer a smokier pencil to a clean liquid line, it doesn't get much better than this. It is long-wearing but still gentle on my eyelids and though I rarely do the whole eyeliner thing, a pencil like this is exactly what I reach for when I do.

Smoked!

Valentino Voce Viva Eau de Parfum, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $3.00 (buy 30 mL for $75.00)

You all know I can be a bit of a scent snob and while I liked this perfume a lot, that really came from it being some sort of weird clone to so many others already out there. I immediately thought of YSL Libre and even of Black Opium because there is something about this one that is very related. Now, that isn't a bad thing at all. I tend to like scents like that anyways. I just don't think I would ever pick this over Black Opium and they are way too close for me to justify both. If you are a die-hard Valentino fan and want an alternative, this is a very viable (and beautiful) choice. Or even if you love Black Opium but want to do without the subtle coffee notes!

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, 7 mL - Estimated Value $25.00 (buy 14 mL for $50.00)

The last item I unboxed was this little pot of eye cream. Don't let the size fool you. This is going to last a LONG time because a little goes a long way. As someone who generally uses an oil eye treatment these days, even I miss the occasional heavy cream. And this is heavy in the best way. Though it has a few slightly comedogenic ingredients, I worry a lot less about stuff like that around my eyes because the skin is just different. And the good stuff inside won me over anyways: shea, avocado oil, vitamin E, and more. It is basically like a super-comforter to skin that is so delicate.

Verdict: This gift ended up being worth over $125 and had some really great brands inside. It certainly ups the ante for new subscribers to sign up before the end of July. I think perfume and lipstick lovers will be especially thrilled with this one!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I might have been tempted if I didn’t already have everything (multiples, even, with some of these). And if all the included perfumes weren’t such a miss for me personally (including Beach Walk).

The only item I don’t have is the Armani lipstick, but then it’s not my color. With my coloration I can only pull off a cool red.

I do think this is a great new subscriber gift, though – in fact, the best I’ve seen in a long time.
