June 2021 So Susan Color Curate Review

This month didn't come with an information sheet. Let's dig into the products!

So Susan Limited-Edition Makeup Bag, June 2021 - Retail Value $12.00 (currently out of stock)

This month's bag says "Fun, Fabulous, Fearless." I am not in love with the print on this bag. From the graphic to the quote, it is just a bit much for me. I have so many bags, so I will gift this to my niece!

Trifle Cosmetics Citrus Dream Odor Minimizing Hair Mist, 1.01 fl oz. - Retail Value $42.00

I was pretty shocked when I saw the retail price of this hair mist! Call me crazy, but usually, if I need to freshen up a bit I just use one of the many perfumes that I have. This mist really does smell great, and I love the idea of having something to use to freshen up if you are between washes or after the gym, but I just can't get past the price. This blend has a strong citrus scent that works to mask food, smoke, and sweat odors as well as light vehicle fumes. It is made with aloe vera juice, damask rose, bitter orange, wasabi, ginger, garlic, and rosemary to add shine, hydration, cut static, and restore your hair's pH balance. I have been using this after the pool or a workout, but I can't say that I love it or feel that it lasts in my hair. As someone who doesn't wash their hair every day, I love the idea of a hair mist, but I just was not blown away by this.

So Susan Cosmetics Lip Dome in Mango - Retail Value $18.00

I am really loving this lipstick! It is a mix between a balm and a rich satin stain. The color is really bold and has great lasting power. I honestly never thought I was an orange person, but lately, I am just feeling those orange tones in lipsticks and eyeshadows. This is made to be non-drying along with a blend of microparticles of hyaluronic acid and tripeptide-1 that help increase lip volume and prevent loss of collagen elasticity. It is also made with goji berry and mangosteen extracts to hydrate and give your lips a radiant smoothness. This is creamy with a slightly matte finish that is perfect to wear from day to night and is going to be a summer staple for me!

Trifle Cosmetics Lava Liner Water Resistant Liquid Eyeliner - Retail Value $10.00

I say this a lot in my reviews, but I was a huge cat-eye liquid eyeliner gal for probably a solid 10 years. I literally never did my eyes any other way. I am slowly trying to get back into doing fancy eyes again when the mood strikes me so I love having liquid liners on hand. I wore this liner on a very hot and humid day and had no smudging after being in it for over 8 hours. This is ultra black and while the pen allows me to create a straight line even without a steady hand, I think I love how it goes on without feeling wet. Drying quickly and being water-resistant? Count me in!

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Biosphere Vegan Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $38.00

I normally love the palettes that I get each month from this box, but I am not feeling these shades. Maybe I need to create a post for this eyeshadow with my Mom so she can show us how to not be afraid of so many bright blues and greens?! These just don't feel very me so I might need her to show me how I can make them work. The Jelly Pong Pong palettes are always beautiful and so well made. They are vegan, but they don't have a ton of fallout like other vegan shadows typically do. The colors are highly pigmented yet they blend so well. You can really build a complete look going light or dark depending on what you want. Let me know if this palette felt a bit much for you and if you want my Mom to show us how to use it?

Verdict: This month's So Susan Color Curate was the first box in a while that I just wasn't feeling. The hair mist really threw me off after I tested it and wasn't blown away with the lasting power and then seeing the retail price. I would rather spray some of my nice perfumes if I need to freshen my hair up a bit. As someone who doesn't wash their hair often, I totally see the need for a mist, but I think this one with its citrus scent just fell flat for me. I love the eyeliner because it goes on smooth and doesn't smudge. The lip is another product that I am really feeling. It is hydrating and lasts, and while it isn't a color I will use every day, I know I will get a lot of wear out of it this summer. The palette was a huge miss for me. I just was not feeling the colors. Normally at least one or two shades work for me, but this whole palette felt really bold. This month has a value of $108.00 which is always an incredible deal for a $20.95 bag. This is still a favorite makeup bag for me so I know that off months are going to happen, but I am still excited to see what next month will bring!

Yes I love oranges too! I have one from shisedo that runs a little more coral/ pink with shimmer but orange for sure and it’s my fav for summer! Looks good on you and they’re so fun to play with!

Yes to mom!

The orange lipstick looks beautiful on you. I only wear greens and blues when it comes to eyeshadows. I do not know how to apply neutrals without them looking “muddy”. I loved the post with your mother creating a look on you so I definitely would enjoy another of you both!

That lipstick looks so good!

I’m always drawn to greens, blues, and teals (teal is probably one of my favorite colors to wear in clothing), but I never know what to do with them in an eye shadow. Dark or cool shades always look dirty or patchy or something on me, so I usually stick to pink, (light) purple, orange, gold, etc. I hope you do a tutorial with your Mom!

I feel the same way, I love those shades on me in clothing, but makeup I feel like I look silly.

Heck yeah, get your Mom to show us some looks using that palette! I enjoyed the recent post in which you two collaborated.

I don’t wear any neutral eye shadows. My favorite eye shadow colors are purples, blues, greens, gold, bronze, copper, different shades of oranges, and multichromatic pigments, too. I’d love to show those who are new to these colors how they’re all very wearable day or night. Love your review!

I totally love that! Yes, I think sometimes I just need a nudge with colors like these to remind myself that they can be wearable.

I would say that orange lipstick (especially with that blue shirt) looks really fantastic on you, Taryn! I once tried a green leaning palette, and just couldn’t do it either. Blue would be just as difficult. Since I wear glasses, most eye looks get lost on me. My number one staple, however is mascara. Without it, I just don’t feel like myself. Appreciate the review, Taryn!

Thank you so much!!! I feel the same way with blues and greens, they just don’t work for me.
