greenUP The Clean Home Box Review

Each box arrives with a product list complete with a brief description of the items you’ll find inside.

TruEarth Laundry Detergent Strips – Retail Value $19.90

I absolutely love anything that takes the guesswork out of laundry. Laundry is one of my least favorite chores. I absolutely hate lugging heavy jugs from the store into my laundry room then rinsing them out to recycle them. Laundry strips prevent this dreaded task, and they perform comparably to the wasteful store brands I typically use. One ultra-concentrated sheet is good for one load, and is 94% lighter than regular detergent. You don’t have to store or recycle plastic or deal with any mess, just simply drop the sheet into your washing machine! I put Tru Earth’s strips through the ultimate test; I used one for Ronan, my toddler’s, laundry, and it worked wonders! There are a lot of fantastic features about these revolutionary strips, but the most important feature to me is how gentle it is. It is hypoallergenic, paraben-free, vegan and biodegradable. If you subscribe to Tru Earth, you can save 35% (that’s $12.95 for 32 loads) with free shipping.

Meliora Laundry Stain Stick – Listed Value $4.99

I am forever pre-treating laundry to avoid permanent stains, especially for my toddler’s clothes. I’ve always preferred a stick to a spray because I find that the friction between the stick and clothing really helps to get any stubborns stains out. My son loves raspberries, and let me tell you, I have been finding raspberry stains everywhere! This stick made each red blob disappear; I even used it on his dingy, raspberry-stained white sneakers & shoe laces, and they are as good as new! It is fragrance-free, 100% plastic-free and cruelty-free.

Hav & Jord Natural Sisal Home Cleaning Scrub Brush – Listed Value $12.95

Spring cleaning is in full motion right now; I am preparing for a yard sale, and totally cleaning out my space, Marie Kondo style! I have so much clutter from product and clothing hoarding, and I am totally freeing myself of the burden of being surrounded by stuff. What I didn’t consider was the mess I would leave behind when I cleared out all of my storage, garage, closets, etc. Fortunately, this brush is a life saver! The scrub brush I had was too small and delicate to really get into the grout and other crevices that were dusty and covered with my junk, but the bristles on this brush are coarse and unyielding to my elbow grease. Each bristle is made of sisal plant fibers, which are biodegradable.

Full Circle Refillable Glass Spray Bottle – Retail Value $11.99

Not only is this bottle stylish, but it also saves you from needing to purchase any one-time-use plastic! I love using cleaning tablets or my own mix of products, which this bottle houses perfectly. It is made of glass, bamboo, silicone, and recycled plastic. The glass bottle is even dishwasher safe!

Hav & Jord Multi-Purpose Cleaning Tablets – Listed Value $16.95

I am impressed by how lovely Hav & Jord’s Aloe scented cleaning tablets smell. One tablet makes up 24oz of non-toxic multi-purpose cleaner. This helped to clean my counter, flooring and even walls (told you I was on a roll!); my kitchen was (it never lasts!) gloriously clean and smelled heavenly.

Imagine the space in a landfill you would save if you kept refilling a reusable yet stylish glass bottle! This tablet is about the size of a few nickels stacked.

Here is the tablet dissolving in the Full Circle refillable glass.

Hav & Jord Natural Air Purifying Bag – Listed Value $14.95

Activated charcoal and linen absorb odors and keep the air around it fresher in this air purifying bag. Activate the charcoal by setting it in the sun for 1-3 hours (you’ll need to do this periodically). I chose to set this bag in our shoe closet, which needed a little fresh air. I noticed a small difference when I opened the closet door this morning, and I am hoping over time it will continue to pick up odors. This definitely beats the baking soda box I typically keep in there!

Verdict: The Clean House Box from greenUP came just in time for some spring cleaning transformations! I’ve been preparing for a yard sale, so I had my work cut out for me. Luckily, these products are just as fierce as others that wreak havoc on the environment. I am so impressed by the quality of each item this month, especially the laundry products and cleaning tablets. I can’t get over how impactful it would be for more people to completely switch to items like these, which gives me a few inspirational gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season! Each greenUP shipment inspires me to increase my eco-friendliness to different aspects of my life. This curation included items that are not only eco-friendly, but they are practical and always useful. For $42.95 I received a retail value of $81.73 – almost double the cost!

I have to comment on the Anne-Marie Bonneau “quote” on the information card. It’s widely attributed to Margaret Mead, although it’s not written down anywhere. But Bonneau herself even quotes it as Mead in a blog post (I just went to her blog and did a search for “Margaret Mead”). Misquotes drive me INSANE so I hate seeing them on printed material like this!

So happy I discovered this box! This was the second one I received, and I LOVE it! And I really love that they offer deeply discounted items from past boxes as add-ons. I was able to grab some things I missed from past boxes (before I subscribed) for a deal. 🙂

Does anyone know if this is still available?

I wish I had gotten this box! the laundry sheets sound so cool and I’ve been wanting to try a dissolving cleaning tablet!

Abby Holsinger

It is still available 🙂 I am tempted to get another for those cleaning tabs. They are perfect for a quick counter clean, and they smell delightful. I wish H&J’s online store was up so I could buy more.

Abby, is the non-toxic spray usable on the kitchen table? It is hard to find sprays that you can wipe and go and be safe on an eating surface. I want the box for the laundry strips. The future of my college kids!

Abby Holsinger

Hi Jody! I’ve been using it on my table and counter daily. All of the ingredients are on the EPA Safer Ingredients List, so I feel pretty comfortable not rinsing; I usually do a quick spritz and swipe at night so everything is fresh for the next day. 🙂
