FaceTory 7 Lux April 2021 Review

Here is our helpful info booklet with details for all of our masks.

Now on to the masks themselves:

Jigott Potato Ampoule Mask - Retail Value $2.00 (currently sold out)

I like sheet masks with slightly odd ingredients because they feel special and fun. And this one has potato inside? Sign me up. I am happy to report that this one didn't smell like potatoes (it had more of a non-descript generic beauty product scent) and the clear serum was calming and soothing while not being overly hydrating.

Heart Signal Signal Mask - Retail Value $3.00 (currently sold out)

This mask kind of smelled like hair spray, but it was so hydrating I was willing to overlook this. The mask was a thin material with eyes that were a little too close together, but, again, I loved the clear serum so much I ignored this. A quick scan of the ingredient list showed hyaluronic acid as well as cica, which is a dream combo for my skin and an excellent explanation of why this one was such a big hit.

Blingpop Brightening Rice Bran Mask - Retail Value $3.00 (currently sold out)

Rice bran is one of those calming extracts that reminds me a lot of the anti-redness benefits my skin notices from oat extract. While the packaging of this mask was over the top and loud, the mask itself was pretty tame, featuring a clear serum with a great creamy scent and an excellent fit. The rice bran combined with niacinamide is a wonderful treat for redness-prone skin.

Ultru I’m Sorry for My Skin pH 5.5 Relaxing Mask - Retail Value $3.50 (currently sold out)

This is one of those brands that kind of cracks me up. Are we apologizing for the way our skin looks or feeling sorry for our skin? I mean, some days, both. This mask had so much serum. Like, enough to also massage onto your neck, chest, arms, and probably legs too! It was juicy! The main callout ingredient-wise was calming chamomile, and this was another super soother for my face.

Elishacoy Tetraforce Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3.00 (currently sold out)

This is the sort of mask I like to reach for when my skin is looking congested or like I am about to have a breakout. The green tea extracts inside boost my skin's defenses and the tea tree helps nix bacteria and regulate oil production. This mask did have a mild tea tree scent and I thought it was comfortable to wear, with a good fit.

Ariul 7 Days Plus Mask in Lemon - Retail Value $3.50 (currently sold out)

This was another mask I would reach for when I was feeling congested or like my skin was dull. The lemon extract helps control sebum production and brightens the skin. It also has niacinamide, green tea, and ginger. This is a two-stepper so be sure to grab that mask starter pad in the upper blue area of the pouch. It has a pad that degreases the skin, clearing it of oil and dirt, and prepping it for maximum mask penetration. Then, apply the mask, lounge for 10-20 minutes, and enjoy your glow.

Bonajour Extreme Moisture Mask - Retail Value $5.00 (currently sold out)

Cica alert! You know I loved this one. Cica (centella asiatica) is one of my favorite extracts because it is a dream for minimizing my redness. If you have ever tried the Tigergrass line from Dr. Jart+, you already know how wonderful this stuff is. This mask is also a dream for dry skin because it has hyaluronic acid, safflower, and aloe. I highly recommend chilling this one in the fridge for a few minutes before you apply.

Blingpop Hand Mask - Retail Value $4.00 (currently sold out)

I didn't love this hand mask for a few reasons. The big one was that the scent smells exactly like the inside of Sally's Beauty or CosmoProf and that was just weird to me. The second was that I thought it left my hands feeling more filmy than hydrated. Don't get me wrong, there are some stellar ingredients in here (sunflower seed oil, mango butter, coconut oil, and more) but this wasn't my cup of tea.

Son & Park Beauty Water - Retail Value $8.00 (currently sold out)

I generally like toning waters like this, though this doesn't top my list of faves by any means. It is mostly water, rose water, and witch hazel with the addition of many different plant essential oils and extracts. I like the scent a lot, but if you don't like essential oils in your products, this one is super full of them. The tail end of the list also has some alcohol denat which I generally avoid, but with it being on the end it doesn't concern me a whole lot.

Verdict: FaceTory sent a bunch of great masks this month, though I found the bonus items a little lackluster. That is pretty unusual for this sub and, to be fair, they are bonus items. So I still feel pretty good about this month. It was a clever assortment filled with masks that I enjoyed at my driest as well as when I was feeling like a breakout was incoming. This is always a subscription I enjoy and anyone who likes sheet masks will too!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, order by the end of the month to receive the May 2021 box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $19.90 + free shipping, which means that each of the 9 items in the box has an average cost of $2.21.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
