Bombay & Cedar "On The Grind" March 2021 Review

The box arrives with a booklet of information that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within. March's theme was "On The Grind.”

Scotch Pine Essential Oil by Bombay & Cedar, 10 mL - Listed Value $15.00

Blood Orange Essential Oil by Bombay & Cedar, 10 mL - Listed Value $14.00

These essential oils have a new look to them! I really love the label and the new shape of the cap that is way easier to twist off. The scotch pine scent is my favorite and one that I use throughout my house year-round. Pine scents just make me happy and feel so fresh while bringing a natural outdoor scent in without being overpowering. This is distilled from the needles of the only indigenous Pine in northern Europe. I have a few blood orange oils that I rarely use. I find this to be so sweet and a bit overpowering. This is another blend that I am not loving, but I am going to try to mix it with other citrus scents and see if I like it more.

CALA Self Warming Steam Eye Mask, 1 mask - Listed Value $13.00

My eyes have been a mess lately thanks to the high pollen counts where I live. This mask is perfect to help relieve dry and stressed eyes. All you have to do is take it out of the packet, remove the sticky adhesive, and loop the sides around your ears. They recommend using this mask for about 20 minutes before removing it. The mask starts to heat once you remove the adhesive and provides a really lovely warming sensation without ever feeling too hot. I can't say that I felt any steam and I didn't get a strong lavender scent which would have been really relaxing. I did really enjoy using this mask though! I applied it before bed after a particularly stressful day and found it to instantly relax me. It also helped with some puffiness and pressure that I was feeling around my eyes. I wish this came with more than one mask!

Split Nutrition Nut Butter + Jam, 1.34 oz. - Listed Value $2.49 (buy a box of 10 packs here for $24.95)

This was a cute little sample packet that allows you to have a nut and jam spread on the go that you can use together or on their own. I have never tried cashew butter so I was excited to give this side a go, but I was pretty bummed to see the jam was sour cherry. I am not a cherry fan at all. I had my husband try the jam for me. He used it on toast and said that it was good but far too tart for him. The cashew butter was so rich and creamy! I used a bit on a slice of toast and then on a banana. It paired so well on things that I would use with peanut butter, but I got that yummy cashew flavor that I really love. Plus, cashews are packed with good fats that can really help give you energy throughout the day.

Little Brand Book by Kalika Yap - Retail Value $29.99 (found on sale here for $14.19)

This is one of three books that you could have received this month. I received the Little Brand Book to help you find your inner Influencer to work it, own it, and bring it. It will give you tips on how to thrive in your life, business, and relationships. It also features female entrepreneurs who share their success stories, tips, and inspiration. As I was flipping through this book, I was reminded of books that inspired me when I was young and really developing who I wanted to be in life and my career. It got me thinking that this book needed to go to my niece who is just about to finish her junior year of high school. This is going to be the perfect late-night inspiration for her as she enters a huge part of her life and will hopefully bring out that inner warrior that I know she will become!

ECOffee Cup Bamboo Coffee Cup, 8 0z. - Retail Value $10.99

This little cup is so cute! It is made from natural bamboo fibers while still being dishwasher and microwave safe. You can use this day after day without having to use plastic cups and it is great to take with you on the go. I have been using this for my morning coffee when I take my son to school and it is the perfect size for my cupholder and a short drive. It keeps my coffee extra hot without burning my hand. Such a fun to-go item that I know I will use a lot!

Vords Plum Blossom Wooden Car Diffuser - Retail Value $12.00

This beautiful blossom is an all-natural and environmentally friendly diffuser that you can place in your car. It clips easily into your vents to diffuse any essential oil that you pick. The bonus is that you can reuse this diffuser simply by adding new oil to absorb into the wood over and over. This is made from a single block of pale cream and finely spotted beech wood that helps to diffuse fresh scents throughout your car. I am loving this so far, it really does a great job at filling the space and I love that I have control over what blends I want to use. I will say that I feel it runs out of the scent fairly quickly so I have to reapply oil into the wood every few days. Not a big deal, it allows me to mix up what scents I want to use. The bonus is that this looks so pretty in my car, much nicer than other car air fresheners.

CB & Co 3-in-1 Cleanser, Scrub, & Mask - Listed Value $29.00

I really loved that this cleanser came as a set with a brush for application. Unfortunately, this mask did not work well with my skin. I find activated charcoal products to be very drying for me, and this mask did just that. I woke up the morning after using this feeling super tight and dry, and then I had a few breakouts about a day or two later which usually happens when I use masks that leave me dry. They recommend applying a thin layer of the mask to clean and dry skin for about 10 minutes to draw out toxins and impurities in your skin leaving it smooth and soft. Some of the top ingredients in this mask include water, capric triglyceride, Cetearyl alcohol, stearic acid, polylactic acid, and more. While this mask didn't work for me, I am going to pass this along to my sister in law who has oily skin and really likes the results she gets from charcoal masks.

Boon Supply Bamboo Eco Lunch Container - Retail Value $15.00

This little snack lunch box is made of bamboo powder, corn starch, melamine, and is 7.5" x 5" x 2.5." I love the fun prints and the bold colors. I asked my son if he wanted me to pack some snacks in this for his school lunch, but he said no way since it wasn't superheroes to match his lunch box. No worries! I am going to use this to pack some Mommy snacks for myself when I go on outings with my kids since I always have snacks for them but never anything for myself. Now I can be full and look cool!

Verdict: This month's Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Box was a fresh curation of products that felt just right for spring. I loved the two bamboo products that allow me to reuse them every day without having to use plastic. The car diffuser was a fun surprise and is helping to keep my rather messy car smelling fresh. Plus, I love seeing that little wooden flower on my dash in the morning. The Little Brand Book has been gifted to my niece who will hopefully get a ton of inspiration from it as she enters some very important years of her life. The eye mask was so relaxing and left me feeling less pressure on my eyes after a long and stressful day, I just wish more came in the packet! I wasn't too excited about the charcoal mask only because those ingredients tend to dry my skin out which then leads to breakouts. I did love that it came as a set with the application brush. The estimated retail value is $141.47, well above the $44.95 monthly cost including free shipping. This month really brought a great curation and brands that were all new to me. I love receiving products that I can use every day and this box is always great for that! This is the perfect box for someone that loves lifestyle products plus a mix of beauty and more!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box should be May. Order by the 20th of the month to receive the current month's box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $44.95 + free shipping, which means that each of the 9 items in the box has an average cost of $4.99.

this box always looks just preposterously cheap to me. That said, the car diffuser is cool.

This box was a meh. I got the charcoal face scrub but it came in a cloth bag. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I think I’ll keep the peanut butter, but I already have a couple tea tumblers that I like, and I never know what to do with the essential oils.

That Vorda car diffuser is a gem! I’d like to get it off their site, but shipping isn’t free till $60. in orders. It would be a better deal to just buy this box… Oh, wait, it’s from March!

I had to laugh at the 8 oz coffee cup considering I’m a venti type of gal. I know I’m a bit harsh on this box, but more often than not it seems like the items included are very random without a cohesiveness (what can I say, I’m a sucker for well thought through curations lol.) I don’t know, this sub just befuddles me sometimes, but I’ll be the first to admit I am definitely a minimalist at heart and really don’t like “stuff.”

No way that single cala brand steam eye mask is $13 in value!

If you search on Amazon for “Japanese heated eye mask lavendar,” you’ll find them for about a dollar each. I buy them in bulk when I go to Japan. Love them!
