Black Girl Magic April 2021 "Spring Into Joy" Review

This month's Black Girl Magic Box came with an April newsletter focused on self-care and a Magical Affirmation card.

Lavender Bundle

Ahh! We are in the Spring of 2021 and are manifesting and accepting all the good things to come our way! Let this lavender bundle help you usher joy into your life. Lavender is thought to help promote calmness and wellness. I lit this bundle during a nice afternoon, opened the windows, and let myself zone out. The smell- amazing!

Routine & Things Affirmation Sticky Notes– Retail Value $6.50

Write down words of affirmation and love with this cute sticky note set. While I run through sticky pads with work-related things, I really want to start making a habit of writing myself positive notes. These chic notes will help me to do just that 🙂

Avalah Energy Travel Soy Wax Candle, 3 oz – Retail Value $15.00

This is my second time receiving a candle by Avalah, and I have yet to be disappointed. Don't be fooled by the small travel size. This baby is incredibly fragrant. The energy candle smells of sweet citrus and served as a perfect way to summon good vibes for my day!

Fresh Seed Glow Lavender Body Oil,  4 fl oz – Retail Value $20.00

Generally, after showers, I like to mix a body oil with lotion to create a super nourishing concoction. This lavender body oil is perfect for that! It's light enough to not be pore-clogging heavy, and the smell is fragrant but not overpowering.

Aesthete Green & Mint Tea, 1 oz – Retail Value $9.90

This green tea blend supports cognitive function, anti-inflammatory, and weight loss and is really yummy. If you've read previous reviews of mine, I'm not a huge fan of peppermint. However, this peppermint is not overwhelming – more of a mild energizing taste. I really like how Aesthete states on a scale from 0-5, how much caffeine their product has. This tea was a 3 on the caffeine scale, which is where I'd like to stay for my caffeine intake.

The Preserve Company Lavender Me In Vanilla Body Butter

I'm so sad that The Preserve's Company website is not findable because this is hands down my favorite item in this month's box and I would LOVE the opportunity to buy more! This body butter is so soft, it feels like it's been quadrupled whipped. Seriously, the butter melts right into your skin and smells amazing. Delicious, in fact! My skin remained soft all day long after applying. A little product goes a long way, which is perfect as I'm savoring every ounce of this body butter.

The Preserve Company Steep Me Like Tea Hand & Body Scrub

Our last item in this month's Spring Into Joy-themed box is a body scrub from The Preserve Company. As stated above, I really wish I knew how to find these products because they smell and feel so good! This scrub smells like a nice glass of oolong tea and melts right into your skin. The fragrance, while showering in the morning, woke me right up! Another winner from The Preserve Company.

Verdict:

I mean, The Black Girl Magic Box just hasn't disappointed me yet! All items work so well with the bi-monthly themes. It's no surprise that my favorite item in this month's box was *drumroll* the body butter! (I know, I gave the answer away already in the review haha). The butter leaves skin feeling so silky smooth! I'm obsessed.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Sadly, no. HOWEVER, if you have a favorite item, you may be able to find that item on its specific brand page. From Black Girl Magic Box:

Boxes ship bi-monthly on the 25th. Please order by the 15th of that month to receive the current shipment.

Value Breakdown: This bi-monthly box costs $63.94 ($54.95 + $8.99 shipping). That means each of the 7 items cost approximately $9.13.

This is such a fun box. The only reason I do six months instead of annual subscription is to give me time to use up products which is something I do with all my sub boxes.

I had even more lavender in my box and the room I opened the box in smelled incredible. I’ve used this brand body oil before, but can’t remember which fragrance. Excited to have it again.

I’m almost a tea collector now and think I’ll add some fresh ginger to this blend. I miss not having an edible this time having gotten dark chocolate from Ghana for earlier this year in the Love box.

The box value does vary, but there are times when it’s been packed so full the to barely closed down, so it all evens out.

I was thinking the same thing! Everything looks nice but the value is just not there for a $64 box.
