The Detox Box is a green beauty subscription box from The Detox Market that costs $55/month. You'll usually receive 2-3 products from a featured brand each month that follow their strict ingredient standards and help you discover non-toxic ways to continue your beauty routine. What I love about this subscription is that I can try popular and undiscovered brands alike at a really good value!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Detox Box March 2021 Review

The info cards provided give us some details on the items included this month, as well as some background on the Pai Skincare brand, one I already know and love! It is one of my top picks for sensitive skin, but I find it works well for everyone!

Light Work Cleansing Oil, 3.4 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $49.00

As a double cleanse enthusiast, you know I am all about an oil cleanser! You can use oil cleansers like this directly on dry skin and they do a wonderful job of breaking down makeup, sunscreen, and dirt. I like to really take some time with this step and give my face a good massage. I usually rinse then follow up with a creamy cleanser, but in a pinch, you can actually just wipe an oil cleanser off your face with a cloth if you aren't close by a sink or shower. This formula is a blend of a few oils: olive, sunflower seed, and castor. It also has extracts from rosehip and jasmine and has a fresh and slightly tangy citrus scent.

System D Eye Serum, 15 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $59.00

I enjoy eye creams and especially ones that come with a cool application feature. The nozzle of this tube is made out of ceramic and it somehow always feels super chilly! That coldness makes this cream feel extra special and soothing around my eyes. I liked this formula too! It has ingredients that are wonderful for that thinner and extra sensitive skin. Notables include glycerine, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, lactic acid, and squalane. It takes very little to get good coverage too. I squeeze a little and then gently move the cool tip across my undereye and also on my lids. I like to use this at night before bed to wake up feeling fresh.

Rosehip Bioregenerate, 10 mL - Full Size! Retail Value $29.00

This was my favorite product this month. That should shock no one because I am an oil fanatic. This little orange treasure has a super short ingredient list: rosehip oil, rosemary leaf extract, and vitamin E. It is a heavier oil with a rich scent that might be a turn-off to some. I personally found it tart and earthy and wonderful! This oil has a CO2 extraction process which is a tad more labor-intensive (and, well, expensive, too) but captures more of the natural goodness from the rosehip seed which is full of different fatty omegas that help skin heal and repair its moisture barrier.

All Becomes Clear, 1 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $69.00

This last item seems like it was tailor-made for my gross maskne issues. Normally I wouldn't be leaning into a blemish control-oriented product, but it is looking wild up under my mask these days. This stuff was very, very lightweight and almost feel like a cream-gel hybrid, with a heavy emphasis on the gel. The superstar here is zinc PCA, which is awesome for congested and acne-prone skin. It works by regulating/balancing sebum production and also killing acne-causing bacteria while still being very gentle and somehow, quite naturally moisturizing. I have been applying this under my mask for a few days and it has helped reduce my bumps and also made me feel like I look less red under there too.

Verdict: I already adore this month's Detox Box brand, so this box felt like a real treat. I also found that the offerings inside felt extra generous and all were very useful to me. The value was also pretty great: $206 for a $55 box! These items together form a sort of routine too, which is always a plus to receive in one box altogether to try. This is a box that consistently delivers really great brands at a wonderful cost, and this month was no exception.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Thank you Charlotte. I must admit I let it get under my skin. I wrote a reply that hasn’t been published that I now hope won’t be. I didn’t mean to be snide. Reading it through other eyes I can see it could come across that way & if it did I apologize to Megan.

Are you going to buy it? I got the older version of the Honda serum from BH & I loved it, like Hawaii in a bottle. I def don’t need it!

DB has been knocking it out this year. After reading Megan’s reviews I have wanted every 2021 box. Can’t wait to see May!

Megan, have you tried the Phoenix oil from Herbivore? Would love to know if you consider the Pai oil a more affordable dupe because both feature rose hip oil. I know Herbivore has CoQ10 and some other added ingredients, but the price tag is also more than double that of the Pai.

I find the cleansing oil to be a gem. I was going to give it away since I’ve been using Farmacy’s makeup remover and love it. I am glad to try Pai’s cleansing oil.

I’ve tried that Pai eye serum. It felt sticky and not right. I typically use Aveda’s under eye cream, which I really love. To me, Pai is hit or miss, but I like that there are a variety of products in this box.

Loved this box as I love Pai. For some reason they actually sent me 2 boxes. I gave one of the eye creams to my mom

That happened to me too! This was the first box in my 3-month sub, and they did that once before with the first box in another 3-month sub. I double checked, and was only charged once and only have one sub on my account. I gave the whole box to my mom, but she gave me back the blemish serum since she never breaks out. Lucky.

B, I’m also kicking myself a little bit for missing March’s box, though my wallet thanks me. Still thinking about going for the Honua box – I want that Aloha serum?

And please ignore the rude person below. Your comment was fine. Someone’s just having a bad day.

Beauty Box Lottery! That’s amazing. I have not had that happen with Detox Box – or any others – actually 1x years ago with Allure. I was thinking of getting DB this month for the Honua – was hoping to see it reviewed before the cut off because the reviews often push me to buy – maybe I will get two! After reading this review I would have gone for it in March – I had thought it was too similar to BH a few months back but it wasn’t. Once again my bank account thanks Megan for being so late publishing the reviews that I can no longer buy.
