SprezzaBox "Dangerfield" April 2021 Review

Each month SprezzaBox allows subscribers to choose their box from several different options. You will receive an email prompting you to select your box, and then you'll be taken to a page with photos and information about each of the boxes. This is a great way to ensure you get exactly what you want or need, and if you forget to pick your box, don't worry because they will simply have a stylist choose one for you. Since some collections are made of previous inventory, you will occasionally have a few products overlap, but usually, this is a sample item.

Dibi Light Blue and Navy Dot Bowtie - Retail Value $25.00

I have never worn a bowtie before. So I was rather excited to see this as an option. I mistakingly thought it was a clip-on, but I now realize that wouldn't be the style of SprezzaBox. So if my attempt looks weak, forgive me. It was my first and I had to search YouTube for a tutorial. My wife wasn't a fan of the colors, but I rather like them. I'm happy to have an option if I'm feeling friskier than a tie.

Sprezza White with Navy Trim Pocket Square - Retail Value $18.00

I enjoyed the simplicity of this box's pocket square. Just a simple white, cotton square with Navy Trim. I thought it looked clean and lets the bowtie do the heavy lifting while complementing it just enough. I may need to work on my pocket square style. I typically just jam it into the pocket and try to get the creases out.

Tom Astin Silver Airplane Lapel Pin - Estimated Value $16.00

This is my first proper lapel pin. I typically just wear a button pin. The airplane is silver atop a 3-inch long stick pin. The closure just pulls off and pushes on. I like that the aircraft looks like it's shooting off into the sky. I think it looks sharp.

Sprezza Navy with Light Blue Stripe Socks - Retail Value $12.00

The navy color continues on these over-the-calf socks. There are light blue stripes and accents at the heel and toe. I like that they look both classic and basic. I could wear them out or to stay in.

Nectar Black Frame Brown Lens Sunglasses - Retail Value $29.00

SprezzaBox makes no mention of this, but these seem a lot like Nectar's Shockoe, which are $50. On the inside of one of the arms, it says "Goose Collection," which could be these at $45. I'm not sure what to think about the value, but I have to say I don't think these are my style. It's a shame, too, because I'm in need of a good pair. The hinges are rather stiff. I need two hands to open them and I feel like I'm going to snap the bridge doing so, but maybe they just need some oil or something. I'll probably still throw these in my car so my wife will stop making fun of me for wearing my tinted construction protective eyewear.

Important Note: According to the brand's contact person, there were no new items/boxes for the month of April due to delayed shipping timelines. Since there were no new boxes and we try not to repeat boxes for reviews, "Dangerfield" was chosen from the SprezzaBox store. That is just to say it was an older box that we hadn't reviewed. Just FYI.

Verdict: I was actually quite happy to be able to choose a box from the SprezzaBox store. It was just like any other month, I suppose, but with more options. I choose Dangerfield for the bowtie and glasses. The latter is OK, but I'm picking the bowtie as my favorite item because I'm excited to try something new. I really liked the long stick lapel pin. The square and socks were nice as well, but not overly exciting. Overall, a very solid box. Again, I was pleased to have the opportunity to go back through SprezzaBox's catalog. However, I hope they have new options again starting in May.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, you would likely receive next month's box, although it's possible that this could be a future "Pick Your Own Box" option.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $30 ($28 +$2 shipping) which means that each of the five items in the box has an average cost of $6. The total retail value of this box clocks in at a cool $100 – more than three times the cost. I thought every item was a hit, even if the glasses weren't exactly my style. Between the items and the value, this was a great box.
