April 2021 So Susan Color Curate Review

This month came with a product information card. Let's dig into the products!

Limited-Edition Makeup Bag, April 2021 - Retail Value $12.00 (currently out of stock)

This month's bag says "Dreams Conquer Fear." I have been loving the bags lately, but this one isn't my favorite. From the color, the quote, and the designs, it just isn't my style. I am going to pass this on to my niece who is trying to build her makeup collection.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Lychee Gel Softening Shower & Bath Gel 1.1 fl oz. - Retail Value $15.95

I loved this shower gel, I just wish there was more of it, that price for the size is a lot! It created a thick lather that left my skin feeling fresh and super clean without making me dry. The gel had a yummy citrus smell to it that was great to use in the morning to wake me up. This is made without parabens so it is soft and gentle on your skin.

Trifle Cosmetics Liquid Glow Liquid Luminizer, 0.53 oz. - Retail Value $23.95

This liquid luminizer went on like silk and left my skin feeling hydrated instead of sticky. It is made with cocoa extract to hydrate and smoothes your skin while making it shine! I really loved that this is more of a rose glow so it felt subtle and matched really well with my cream blush. This is vegan without any mineral oil and is hypoallergenic so it is really great for people with sensitive skin like myself. I also found that this wore really well without smudging or the feeling of constantly needing to reapply. I have never been a highlighter lover, but this is a product that I keep reaching for more and more. I love the subtle glow that it gives me and just makes me feel fresh and dewy without being sparkly.

So Susan Cosmetics Dream Maker Light Shifting Highlighting Cream, 0.34 fl oz. - Retail Value $29.00

I received this highlighting cream in Rainbow Rose, a multi-tonal crystal pink. This cream is really interesting because it is made with bioactive tetrapeptide-21 and edelweiss extract to help fight the appearance of skin fatigue, and an ultra-concentrated mixture of fine mica and holographic, rainbow particles that adjust to your skin tone to make it glow. The cream is oil-free and glides on nicely but it did leave me feeling a little sticky, almost like a lipgloss where my hair sort of stuck to it. It is light shifting so it almost has an icy pink tone to it that in the right light is really shimmery. I think since two highlighting creams came this month, I wouldn't pick this as my favorite, but it is a bit more bright and bold. So I can see myself using this for an evening look or when I want to add a bit more to my look.

So Susan Cosmetics Palmeria Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $45.00

These Palmeria palettes are my favorite! I have been reaching for this and the one from last month constantly. The colors are so rich and bold. They have that bit of shimmer that is just enough without being overpowering. The colors are pigmented so they go on smoothly with full coverage that I can build and blend out easily. There is basically zero fallout when you apply, which I love, and it is made with an infusion of agave, Amazonian lily, and carrot. So far I tried the darker green, which I loved, and that beautiful orange that is just my favorite. I thought I was not an orange person, but I have found myself using orange shadows so much in the past year. What a fun palette to add to my collection!

Verdict: This month's So Susan Color Curate was fun but lacked a little on the curation side! Since I am not a huge highlighting fan, I was a little bummed to see two different highlighters. I did enjoy trying each of them though and seeing the differences between the two. One was super silky and subtle, while the other was a bit sticky and too shimmery for my taste. The shower gel was really nice, leaving me feeling clean and hydrated. It had a lovely citrus scent that helped to wake me up early in the morning and smelled really nice throughout the day. I do wish that the bottle was a bit larger, especially for the price, I didn't get more than two washes out of it. The palette was the big winner for me! It is such a high-quality palette with rich tones that just glide onto my skin. You can go light or dark and have zero trouble getting solid coverage. This month has a value of $125.90 which is always an incredible deal for a $20.95 bag. While I wasn't blown away by the curation this month, I still really loved each of the products. Testing new beauty items is my favorite bit of "me time" so I still got a lot of enjoyment out of this box. This subscription usually wows me so I know that even if I didn't love the box as a whole, next month will surely bring the magic again.
