Scent Box March 2021 Review
This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”

The information card included within the box usually includes some information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side.
In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you receive a new atomizer every month. The fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the atomizers tend to be different colors each month, so you can keep them sorted.
On to the fragrance:

Light Blue Love is Love by Dolce and Gabbana - Estimated Value $8.32 (buy 3.3 fl oz for $104.00)
Not going to lie, at first I saw "Light Blue" and groaned because if you have ever in your life gotten a multi-brand gift with purchase from Ulta, it has almost certainly included the original Light Blue, and I am swimming in that one. As it turns out, however, this is a summer variation special release (this one from 2020) and it is new to me. For what it's worth, this one is also still avaialble from non-discount retailers including Macy's (linked above).
Top notes are lemon, Granny Smith apple, and red berries. On me, the top notes are really quite short-lived, and that is OK because I am not generally into fruity perfumes (I make exceptions for grapefruit and some berries).
Middle notes include raspberry, ice cream, and jasmine. The jasmine is faint and sort of folds into the overall blend. Raspberry is one of the fruity scents I'm fond of and ice cream goes quite well with it (while wearing this, I was thinking about sweet, vanilla, dessert-like things, all of which I do like in fragrances).
Base notes include cedar, whipped cream, musk, and amber. The whipped cream is probably merging with the ice cream for me, it's hard to sort those things out. I do like woody fragrances a lot and musk and amber are favorites as well. So I think what is interesting about this fragrance is that it combines warm wood/musk/amber with sweet scents (raspberry/ice cream/whipped cream). Those are two of my favorite fragrance categories and it was hard to envision how they would actually work together until I smelled this.
I think this is supposed to be a summery scent and I get that ice cream and fruits are associated with summer, but this reminds me, personally, of more of a cool season type of fragrance. However, if the fruits are more prominent on you, you may have a different opinion -- everyone's body chemistry is a little different.
I would not say this lasted a really long time but what was kind of fun for me is that I sprayed it on before a workout and I guess because I was warmed up and sweating, but the sillage during my workout was really strong, and kind of a nicce departure from the way my basement exercise room usually smells.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $8.32. Although this is less than the month-to-month cost of the subscription, it is a little better than last month's value, and if you choose your own fragrances, you can increase the value that you get each month. Also, don't forget that you get a free holder and free returns if a scent doesn't work for you, and there is some value in both of those. Plus, this is a new-ish fragrance and not a closeout. I happened to enjoy this month's as it combines two of my favorite fragrance categories and I'm pretty sure I will reach for it often.
