LiveGlam Lippie Club April 2021 Review

This month is celebrating their 4th birthday by bringing back their first-ever and most popular shades: Paris, Milan, and Rome.

Shall we see what they look like?

LiveGlam Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Milan’

This went on so much darker than I thought it would just by looking at the tube. The color is described as a red-tone mauve, like a deep brick tone. It has a ton of staying power as well! Even the swatch on my arm left a stain for hours after I took it off. This reminds me of a shade that my mom used to rock in the ’90s that I remember loving. She would leave notes in my lunch and leave a kiss on it with her signature lipstick that honestly looked just like this. I really wanted to love this shade, but I thought it was a touch too dark for my fair skin. Then when I went back to look at my photos, I was sort of feeling it! I am going to keep giving this shade a try, especially into the summer when I have some glow to my skin, and try a few light-handed ways to apply it.

LiveGlam Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Paris’

This matte pink nude is just my style! It goes on so smoothly with that flawless matte finish that is still hydrating. I will say that this seemed to get darker as it dried, which I was a little bummed about since I loved the initial shade so much. I might just go a bit lighter with my layers when applying to see if that helps. Otherwise, this shade was the clear winner for me in terms of one that I know I will use at least once a week!

LiveGlam Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Rome’

This was another shade that feels a tad too dark for me right now. It is a mauve brown that is so rich and deep, it almost looks like mud in my opinion, which just totally washes me out. This is another shade that I might try again when I have more of a tan, or I might try to pass it along to a friend.

Verdict: This Lippie Club brought the three most popular shades in celebration of their 4th birthday! At first glance, I thought all three shades were going to be winners, but two of them turned out to be a tad darker than I like. ‘Paris’ was my big winner this month in a pink-nude shade that has a sleek matte finish. I can’t wait to play around with this shade to see which of my lip liners work best with it, and how I can get it to go on a bit lighter. ‘Rome’ was a deep mud brown shade that I just can’t see myself wearing, but I am going to give it another go soon with a lighter application. If that doesn’t work for me though’ I am going to see if I can pass it to a friend. ‘Milan’ reminds me so much of a shade that my mom rocked when I was little, and the shade really caught my attention more after I saw my photos of it. I am going to keep giving this shade a try because I really like it and I need to get out of my comfort zone! As always, this month brought some new shades that allowed me to test and push the boundaries from my day-to-day shades. I love that fresh feeling of trying a new lipstick and finding that perfect color, now I get to do that every month!

  1. I think the Rome shade is gorgeous on you! Try it with a cat eye and some gold eye shadow in your inner corners. It really pops with your hair. Definitely begging to be worn with a black dress for date night!

  2. I agree with Snow. I love a dark lip!! And I have fair skin similar to Taryn’s. I think all three lippies look great, but especially the first two, with the first one (Milan) my favorite! I do enjoy lighter pinks for low-effort days, but I find true nudes wash me out. When I wear a classic red or deep berry pink, though, I feel so pretty! I could be wearing sweats yet still look put-together because of my lips.

    • I love that! I really did wear darker shades that were really bold in my early 20s and rocked a red lip on my wedding day. I really need to bring that side of me back I think!

  3. I would love to try all of these

  4. Taryn, the Milan looks wonderful on you.

    • Thank you so much! I wore it again the other day and am really feeling it now!

  5. I’m not sure why so many women are afraid to wear dark lipstick. I think they look awesome and brings a sultriness you just can’t get with a nude or a pink. Truth be told I have rocked a dark blue lipstick before and just find them fun!

I think the first and second lipsticks look fantastic on you, Taryn. The last one leans a little too much in the brown area but still looks good. Love seeing these modeled 💕

    • I agree with you but not on myself! I always see women with a dark lip on and think, he/she looks gorgeous! But then when I try, I feel silly lol but your comment makes me want to try!

    • I pretty much only wear reds, burgundy, and wine shades. I’ve received a bunch of nudes and lighter shades in subs (including faves like CT Pillow Talk and Mac Velvet Teddy), and they just look odd on me. Bummer because lighter shades seem like they would be ‘easier’ to wear if that makes sense.

I love the first shade Taryn modeled. I think it looks great!

    • Thanks so much! Honestly, in my early 20s when I was newly dating my husband I was always in a bold lip. My wedding day, bold red lip. Maybe my style is changing or I lost that edge. I did rock Milan the other day and was way more into it this time around!
