Our IPSY Glam Bag Plus March 2021 Review
Here is our info card for the month. No specific item list this time.
My drawstring bag arrived with a cute print with a red inside.
Now, on to the items!
MOTD Cosmetics Eye Got It 5 Piece Brush Set - Full Size! Retail Value $34.00
IPSY chose this item for me!
I don't really need more makeup brushes for myself, but I am working on building a kit for weddings and special events. This is a nice little set of vegan brushes with a good density to the heads and handles that feel nice to hold. Each handle also has rose gold lettering that specifies what it is designed for. With all the different shapes in this kit, it will be a great addition to my bag.
Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Invisible+ - Retail Value $17.99
This was my choice item!
I love these little patches SO much that I have spares in my treatment room to send home with clients! If you ever have a big ugly zit hanging out on your face, these patches are what you need. I like to use these on larger bumps that have recently been found along my jawline (thanks, maskne!). I prefer to apply them at night after I wash my face and then sleep in them. You can usually see a white bump in the clear sticker which indicates that some of that yuck has been pulled up out of the troubled pore. You can also use these during the daytime because they are essentially invisible. They have one ingredient, hydrocolloid, which works by adhering to your skin and keeping it moist while still absorbing fluids from that pesky zit. Magic.
I'm coming for you, zit. Also, peep the tubes from the mascara (below) under my eye.
Purlisse Beauty Silk Glow BB Base Primer, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $28.00
This was my choice item!
I don't really wear enough makeup to justify a primer anymore, but I think I was hoping this would essentially work like a radiant BB cream. It kind of does, but there is no real tint here, even though the cream looks a lot like a skin tone sort of shade. It is pretty much invisible but does leave behind a softer surface with a nice natural glow. It provides enough radiance to be worth wearing, even on an otherwise naked face.
HALF CAKED Totally Tubular Mascara in The Heights – Retail Value $12.00
IPSY chose this item for me!
I didn't like this mascara, but, to be fair, I don't like tube formulas. Basically, it adheres to each lash individually, forming a "tube" that goes over it. When you go to wash it off you can actually see the long tube-like strands wash off along with other chunks of mascara because it doesn't actually dissolve. My issue is that these pieces like to fall off during the day, and I don't have time for that. I also found it was a pain to remove on purpose and tubes and pieces of them would go into my eyes which was annoying and uncomfortable.
I mean, it's fine. There is a big difference between nothing and this mascara because my lashes are blonde. But I am not super impressed.
Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Gel in 'Taupe', 4.4 g – Retail Value $20.00
This was my choice item!
You all know I am a big brow gel fan. I use them daily, even with nothing else on my face. This is for a few reasons, like the fact that apparently I sleep on my face and they are always in different directions, and how so many of my brow hairs are now white for some reason. This Taupe shade is lighter than any I have already, but I kind of like that. It allows me to really go big and bold without them looking too brown with my ashy blonde/white hair.
Just a little extra help.
Verdict: Though this IPSY Glam Bag Plus didn't have anything inside that was super new or exciting, everything felt very useful and practical. I ended up loving everything except the mascara, which still makes it a good bag! I am happy to have more patches since masks, and therefore maskne, seem to be here for a minute or two longer and I really liked the brow gel and primer. The brushes will go to good use in my work kit. All in all, I am happy with my $111.99 value in this $25 bag.
