Don’t know anything about the palettes…The Illuminati Cosmetics one looks promising. (Don’t know about performance though :/ ), everything else listed I would be vry happy to get any of those choices. Is it true as a new sub you might receive the older inventory – frm past boxes due to not receiving them before obviously….(being a new sub and all?) Also how many mths can u skip in a row??

Kimberly

Same. That pal was awful..I donated it though so hopefully someone liked it.

So sick of this nonsense. How about I make a sliver glitter eye pencil and call it “Cuz I am White.” RIDICULOUS.

Tammy

When is choice time for us?

Reply ButtonReply

Stacy

Plus choice is always on the 2nd

I never got email…always …such a drag

I can vouch for menagerie eyeshadows! They aren’t that pricey compared to other really great brands. They’re formula is amazing, especially for an indie company. If you ever get your hands on any of their duohromes, go for it! You can also build your own pallette…which I personally think is the way to go. They’re duochromes are way better than Natasha Denona. And I love her eyeshadows.

Stacy

Where did you see menagerie shadows?

Out of all of the spoilers, there’s only 3 that I’m super excited for. The Fenty Eyeliner, Tarte Lippy, & The Dr. Brandt Cleanser. Others I Will DEFINITELY Give Away! I’m Sooo Glad They Are Uping Their Game And Introducing Better & Luxury Brands Like Victoria Beckham & Fenty. Can’t Wait To get my April Plus this week‼️‼️ I’m getting the VICTORIA BECKHAM MASCARA‼️‼️ Sooo Excited To Try It For $10 LESS Than The Retail Price! 💖💖💖 POSH!

TWO new eyeshadow palettes?! Nobody has enough eyes or even eyelid room to justify the monthly surplus of eyeshadows; I’m literally giving them away left and right at this point.

Luckily Dr.Brandt and Tarte are good brands, at least, although unsure about the products themselves.

Would really like a good new foundation, instead.

Stacy

I love eyeshadow palettes. I’m very happy to get them often. I really enjoy Violet Voss. The other palette came in another sub box so I already have but haven’t tried it because I didn’t hear good things about the quality

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

I usually love getting palettes and even I am getting really sick of them. I am wondering though, were you all not offered all of the foundations for the last couple months? I’ve received 3. I would love a legit setting spray like all nighter or even the Gerard Cosmetics one. I rarely get those from any subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

Stacy

Watch in Ipsy sales. I’ve gotten 2 of the Gerard setting sprays plus 1 in a box. I see them all the time. I’m actually on setting spray overload. I have 6 unopened bottles plus the 6-7 I have open.

Tammy R

Agreed. Honestly, I’m tired of eyeshadow palettes. I understand that people love them, though; I just wish that they were optional items that we’d get only if we chose them. ❤

Lisa

Me too and I LOVE eyeshadow. I’d prefer singles at this point. Less waste and less clutter.

Jacqueline Hubbard

Yes!! Omg I’d rather have foundation or powders

ME TOOOOOOO

Blue

I’ve already received a Haus Lab metalic liquid eyeshadow a few months ago from Ipsy. Knowing them they’ll do what they did to me before and have it there and say because it’s a different shade it’s not a dupe. I’ve also already had the Hey Honey Open Your Eyes in a previous bag. I got the Shaina B Miami Brush Set this month as one of my choice items for April. My choices were pretty bad other than those brushes so I’m glad to get them but not glad it means my choices for May are going to either be dupes or more limited.

Reply ButtonReply

Stacy

A dupe is a product that is similar looking to another product. I think you mean repeat. I’ve gotten different shades of the same product quite a few times and have been able to review each one. Heck I have 4 different colors of the Maelle lip crayons and have reviewed each one separately

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

Yeah unfortunately it’s not considered a repeat item if it’s a different shade. That’s the same rule among many sub boxes. Last month they sent me the belle en argent “plum” palette and this month they picked the exact same one but in “nude”. If they allowed exception then you could argue they are never allowed to send you 2 eyeshadow palettes made by the same company so the rule makes sense. It’s technically not the same product so not a repeat.

Reply ButtonReply

Blue

If they want to count it as a different item then I should be able to review it. Yet when I went to review it the page says I already reviewed it previously. So obviously they count it as a duplicate. They can’t have it both ways. Either they are separate things and I should be able to review each one or they are the same thing in different shades. Palettes are a bit different because it’s not just one shade and palettes can have different sizes and designs. In this case they often send out a lip gloss in multiple colors to different people. Same with single shade eyeshadows. In those cases it should count as a dupe because for all intents and purposes it is.

Deanne

Everything looks great except that Illuminati garbage, the nerve to even put that crap in boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

Agree! I have already been sent that exact palette from boxycharm and that whole brand is garbage. I really hope they don’t pick it for me. I do hope they pick the tarte for me or include it in a choice column that doesn’t have something else I want. The brushes look ok too but I have received brushes every month from them for a while now. I guess we will see.

Tammy R

This is my first time ever hearing of this brand, yikes! Is it that bad? :-O

Reply ButtonReply

Mountaineer95

It’s that bad. In fact, it looks like we may have another Dirty Little Secret here. Illuminati Cosmetics LLC is listed on Dunn and Bradstreet as a company with two employees, and if you google the street address listed, it’s a very residential area. The principal is a Candace Stanley, and if you google her name it pops up that she is “CEO” of Appeal Cosmetics. Another very iffy brand just now popping up in sub boxes. BTW none of this info is available on the poorly designed websites for either “brand”. Illuminati doesn’t even have a basic “About” section on their site. Oops, I mean “her” site, since I don’t think it’s an actual beauty brand with its own product designers, formula developers, etc.

Rule of thumb, if it’s a brand I haven’t heard of (and true “Indie” brands are legit, unlike these fake brands just buying $1 mass-produced wholesale palettes and slapping their own cover design on the cardboard), I look up its website. After viewing a few, you’ll get a feel for which are probably legit.

Teresa

Ms. Mimsy did a review of this pallet and you could feel her pain reading the review.

Jackie

I really enjoyed the Mani Me stickers I got from Allure, but the whole thing with them is that they’re sized for your nails. I wonder how they will be sent to subscribers.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather H.

They will probably do things the same way as Allure did but have this as the only design available unlike Allure which had five options (I think it was five).

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

Those stick-on nails are incredibly cute! I still haven’t tried the Dashing Diva ones that I have. I have a feeling that they’re going to be a disaster lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Becky

I just tried my mine. I only did my pinkie nails for now to test their longevity but it was super easy with no mess and no fuss. I’m not sure I even did it entirely correctly but it’s been a few days and they still look perfect! The only thing that I noticed was there is a pretty bad “chemically” smell when opening the package but I figure that’s the trade off for not having to go through the hassle of actually painting my nails!

So far I love them! They look great and after I had applied them I noticed I did not have to be super careful like you do when you actually paint your nails, ya know? They don’t smudge or budge.
I think these will be my go to for now!

There are a few videos on Youtube that are pretty helpful too.

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

I guess I can’t mess them up more than I already do with polish lol. I’ll have to give mine a try!

Bebe

I wear the Dashing Diva nails all the time. I personally like them better than Color Street. I’m a teacher and wash my hands like 20 times a day. They last about 10 days on me. Plus they have so many cute styles to choose from.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

Looking good! Would love the tarte, the Violet Voss palette or those mani gel sticker things. SUPER cute and glad they including more nail items.

Hope I don’t get that Illuminati palette–just not my colors and based on other comments.

LOVE the name of the Fenty eyeliner.

Thanks Marion! I appreciate the feedback! Always good to know from someone who has experience! I have heard good things about Menagerie too!

Reply ButtonReply

Daja

Very excited about next month, hopefully it’s not as lip heavy as this month

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Most of these actually look good to me… had me contemplating reactivating my old account so that I can get both Plus and X in May, and then I remembered that X is $55 already, so maybe I don’t need to be spending an extra $25 that month. 😂

(Still trying to justify it by reminding myself that I skip Plus most months….)

Snow

Gotta laugh at the “vacuum cleaner” product 😆

Reply ButtonReply

Sav

I think I like these spoilers better than some of the glam bag X spoilers. Too bad none of these will be choice items for that.

Reply ButtonReply

Mel

Great spoilers! I am underwhelmed this month, but next month looks awesome!

💘 Dr Brandt products I’ve had in the past and have wanted to try this one!
The ManiMe stick-on nails are super cute!
The Violet Voss palette looks nice, I’ve wanted to try that brand for a while now.
I just finished up my Ultra-Personalization for April and now I’m already thinking forward to May!

Reply ButtonReply

Tammy

Dr brandt product is excellent . It is offered EVERYWHERE..but I usually will go for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Vic

Looking forward to the Tarte and Fenty!

Kimberly Sifford

Looks nice, may have to sign back up! Love the colors in the Illumanti palette, but don’t have much experience with the brand. What are everyone elses opinions? Are they any good?

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

That llluminati palette came in Boxycharm awhile back. It’s trash. I literally threw it in the trash after depotting one shade which was kinda like a blueish shimmery topper and the only pan in the whole palette worth anything but still not good. Not pigmented, crazy fall out. Doesn’t last at all, even with primer. As soon as I swirled a brush in the first pan, I was disappointed. I hope it’s a choice item because this palette is dollar store junk and I don’t recommend this to anyone.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

If you’re looking for someth similar to the Illuminati color story, I can personally recommend the Nomad Tokyo Harajuku palette.

Another one I’ve had my eye on, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet, is the Pastel Pup palette from Menagerie Cosmetics. (I’ve only heard goods things about Menagerie’s formula, but since I do have the Nomad palette, I haven’t been able to justify buying another pastel one.)

Reply ButtonReply

Tiffany Nicole

I’ve been wanting that Nomad palette forever, I love their eyeshadow formula and that pastel palette is just too cute. I think your praise of it finally has me ready to go order it! Thank you Marion

Marion

The worst. They’re private label junk. Illuminati is the from the same person who runs Appeal (via her Linked In, you could see that the prices she charges sub boxes is typically $1 a unit, then she and BoxyCharm & Allure, etc, claim that, for example, the $1 lipstick is “luxury cosmetics” worth $21. 2000% markup!!!).

Even knowing all this, when I received this exact Illuminati palette in my “premium” BoxyCharm, I did try it on the off chance it was OK. The shadows applied fine & initially looked cute, but faded to nothing within a few hours. I’ve never had any other shadow, even dollar store quality stuff, perform that poorly.

There’s also plastic glitter in this “eye” palette, so be aware of that.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

Wow and good to know! I can always rely on Marion for up to date information on these private label items 👍

I really wish sub boxes would stick with legitimate brands. I don’t sub to certain beauty subs for this very reason (that and awful customer service.) They may not be as popular, but that is why I love a lot of the smaller, niche type skincare boxes. You know you aren’t going to be duped by some ridiculous 2000% alibaba mark up inside.

Jill

Paused for a few months, but I like these products. Will be getting this one! Finally!
