Bespoke Post “Salud” Review
I love a good margarita on occasion, especially one with a bit of a twist or kick to it, so this box looked like fun! Plus it’s almost Cinco de Mayo, right? Enclosed in my box was a card listing the items inside on the front with three fun margarita recipes to try on the back. I am definitely intrigued by the Pineapple Turmeric recipe!
Hella Classic Margarita Premium Mixer, 750 ml – Buy 3 bottles for $39.95
A margarita is only as good as its mix and we received this classic mix from Hella Cocktail Co. which seems to have some great reviews! It is gluten-free, kosher, vegan, and non-GMO certified made with a short list of ingredients. This bottle holds enough mix for 12 cocktails and it has the proportions listed for making a classic margarita which I’ll be trying out below!
Cieleto Original Chili Seasoning with Lime, 4.4 oz. – Retail Value $4.95
I love drinks with a good kick to them and this chili seasoning seemed like it would do the trick, but it actually ended up being much milder than I had hoped for on its own. It also has lime in it, so it ends up being a nice bite of salt and lime with just a hint of the chili peppers. While it doesn’t provide a huge kick on its own, it definitely tasted spicier on the rim of my margarita glass, perhaps it was when the chili peppers hit my lips that it really stood out? My kids tried it (sans margarita!) and thought it was a little spicy, so I’m thinking maybe paired with food, the spice will come through a bit more.
Verve Culture Mexican Hand Juicer – Retail Value $15.00
It’s not a margarita without a squeeze of fresh lime! This heavy-duty hand juicer was aluminum cast by Mexican artisans. I like that it has a hook to hang it up with, too! Not only are these handmade, but they are also sustainably made from 100% recycled aluminum. This worked well, it juiced my lime with little effort and it really squeezed it all out, too!
Verve Culture Mexican Handblown Margarita Glasses, 12 oz.
What good would a margarita box be without some glasses to serve them in? Luckily, I’m a margarita on the rocks kind of girl, so these handblown glasses are ideal for me. These are a nice thick, smooth glass with a tint of green to them and tiny little imperfections that really add to the authenticity of the handblown look. I think they are so pretty! They are hand-crafted in Mexico and made from recycled glass bottles which is so cool! They look thicker, but they are average in weight and not too heavy or clunky. While I wasn’t able to locate these on their website, they do have a really gorgeous set of 4 glasses for about $48.00.
Verve Culture Servilleta – Buy a pack of 4 for $22.00
We even received a fun and festive tea towel/napkin to serve them with. I love that they list a number of ways this could be used such as a tortilla warmer, placemat, napkin, or simply as decor. I think that this would be great as a tortilla warmer for Taco Tuesdays in our house! This is 100% acrylic, thin and lightweight and the design is really fun and bright. It’s a great little pop of color!
My husband and I paired our margaritas with some delicious fish tacos from a local restaurant and it made for a perfect Mexican meal! I rimmed the glasses with the chili mix and sprinkled a tiny bit inside for added flavor and then it was just tequila (I used silver) and the mixer over ice. I decided to forego the squeeze of fresh lime since I wanted to taste the mix, and I’m glad I did. It was really full-flavored and had a good bit of lime to it already, so I didn’t need anything added! My husband and I both thought it was delicious and fresh-tasting. I might add a splash of water to mine next time because it was a lot of flavor overall, but I’m okay with bold flavors that I can tone down if need be!
Verdict: I love when Bespoke Post curates a fun box like this! It feels so gift-worthy since it includes so many different aspects from the napkin to the juicer to the margarita mix, we had pretty much everything we needed in our box for margarita night (although I wouldn’t complain if it had included the tequila, too!). The quality of everything was great and we certainly enjoyed our margaritas. While I only have estimated retail values for a few things and am unsure of the value of the glasses, I came up with a total of just under $39. I would probably give the glasses an estimated value of about $20, or even $24 if I split the 4 glass cost from their site in half, which brings us to $59 or $63. Since I only paid $48.95 ($45 + $39.95), I think that’s a pretty decent value and I’m happy with the fun overall curation!
