  1. This box was such a disappointment. The only reason I didn’t skip was because I wanted to try the Akar eye serum. It’s good but it felt like a let down that it was made in China. Not sure if this is typical for the regular retail one. The rest of the box was just meh. Ironically the black liner is one of the few black liners I was excited about since I normally receive black liquid liners and this was a pencil instead.

  2. I saw a photo and that eye shadow palette is tiny!! I think in the end I would have been OK with this box and pleased to try the Akar product but I’m glad I skipped.

  3. Save for the eyeshadow pallet, I’m excited about this months box. So much so that I bought an extra one through Amazon.

  4. I used to like allure but needed to cancel this month. I emailed them before the beginning of this month and got no reply then emailed them again only to be told they wouldn’t refund my money unless I sent them my original email showing a time stamp (bc they couldn’t find it) and even then they couldn’t promise it would be refunded. They’ve done it for me before so idk. Just pissed me off.

  5. Wow. There is a lot of unhappiness in these comments. I just joined and I’m super excited about trying the vitamin c cream in the March box and the clay cleanser looks fun too!
I skipped this one but I’m super tempted to unskip bc of the akar eye serum which has so many amazing reviews and the aveda hair conditioner. Aveda rules. I can’t compare it to any box before but the box has a lot of value and even enough clean beauty, which I prefer.

    • Just cannot justify this box anymore. Seeing the Chella quad that is 2seasons old is it. Now I know where people get those mystery makeup boxes from…bad beauty boxes like these.

  6. I received my box today (subscribed on Amazon). Good news is there are no substitutions, bad news- black eyeliner! Odd think- the card that was included with tips advises to use silicone-based primers for eyes! I know there are a lot of us who are avoiding silicons on face or hair and this kind of advice made by beauty expert that Allure should be, is in my opinion just weird.

    • Some of the newer editors/advisers seem to be kind of under-informed.

Or maybe I’m just getting old. 🙂

  7. This is my first time to hear about the Akar Skin brand. The item alone is worth quadruple the amount I paid for the box. Looking forward to trying this on my undereyes. My face does not go well with face oils (from high end ones to drugstore brands), I hope my eye area will act differently! lol

    • I’m about to finish up a bottle of this eye oil. I love it and am glad to get another. One drop does both eyes. I hope it works for you!

  8. I quit allure when the price went up and honestly, I don’t see much change. The full size stuff is pencils and mascara and I just don’t see it for $23

    • Right. $8 dollars more and the same product offerings? The Moonchild palette is from one of their previous $15 boxes that came out over a year or so ago.

  9. Everyone getting the box through Amazon is stuck with yet another black eyeliner and the hero patches- I skipped- completely boring!

    • But on the Amazon photo there’s an asterisk next to the eyeliner, which says in tiny print, “Shade may vary: Black Sea, Pfeiffer Beach or Dorado Beach.” So I’m hoping there’s color variation with the eyeliner in the Amazon boxes. 🤞🏻

  10. Oh my…I’m not digging this one. Signed up for ipsy this month instead. I started limiting myself to one beauty box a month and I tend to switch back and forth between Allure and Ipsy GBP, and Ipsy won my money this month lol

  11. Im keeping this month for Akar. I liked the tiny sample I got earlier but I couldn’t justify buying full size when I am product overload. I’m almost 50 & maskne is no fun! So I will swap for all acne patches I can. I can bet I’ll get the peel.

  12. I kept this one for the Akar after subbing last month, but I think whether I stick with it will depend on May’s box. I’m currently loving Fashionsta and how the products are ones I’ll use, and full size, so at this price point I’m tempted to drop Allure and stick to Fashionsta for a while.

    • YES! I love Fashionsta too. They’re almost the same price as allure yet they include at LEAST 5 full size items, sometimes 6 or 7! and I always LOVE at least 3-4 of the Fashionsta products each month. The value is insane.

Then along comes Allure with their Chella shadow and Cargo eyeliner. I’m sorry but with the brands Allure has access to, I find it pretty hilarious that we’re getting a Chella eyeshadow quad and Cargo eyeliner. I don’t care if it’s a color other than black. It should be a Tom Ford eyeliner or an hourglass eyeliner. Not Cargo. (no offense to Cargo, but I don’t think of it as high end or even mid-end.)

      • Speaking of Tom Ford, *is* there a beauty sub that only specializes in luxury brands? Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, etc.?

Because I’d be interested in that. I mean, way, WAY more so than the standard offerings.

I just think the entire beauty subscription market is based on little-known brands or unknown products that are being offered to the companies for free or very low cost for promotional purposes. Tom Ford doesn’t need that.

  13. I’m keeping the box for the eye serum. It’s otherwise pretty uninspiring. Also, I’m afraid the box will go under and I’m subbed for many more months, it’s going to be an endless sub if I keep skipping

What happened to getting a sheet mask or eye patches in every box? that was good for a while

  14. Yikes. They are probably ending soon. This is bad. Repeats and nothing brands… goodbye allure. I loved you so much.

    • Allure has been around for 30 years and is owned by Condè Nast, who own Vogue, Vanity Fair, etc. Out of ANY beauty box on planet earth, this is the least likely to ever go out of business!

      • Exactly!…

  15. I’m really only interested in the Akar, so I just skipped on Amazon. I think I skipped last month, too. Sigh…

  16. How the mighty have fallen

    • That’s what I’m talking about!! So disappointing. This was my first sub ever, years ago and it was so good. Now it’s like the $5 Walmart box.

  17. I remember a teeny tiny bottle of this eye serum. I remember liking it and then dropping it in the sink and it all poured out. lol. It could have been from Allure or Ipsy?

  18. wow, when did it get to $23? I was considering it until I saw what a huge price increase it has been since I last ordered one

    • Last year it increased with promises of rainbows and gold. They haven’t delivered.

      • It’s almost worse than before. The only thing decent this month was a new member gift, which everyone should have gotten, especially considering what an old product that is.

    • Last October 🙁

  19. This box got worse with the price increase. It was the first beauty box that I ever purchased, but I haven’t bought one in forever lol.

  20. Agree four

  21. No, thank you Allure. Like others said, Akar is the only thing that’s interesting. But I do have a lot of eye cream, so I will survive without it. I’ve gotten only 1 box since the price increase. Boxes used to be so much better. The value is there I guess, but it’s just not anything I would use, so the value to me is much less.

  22. Additionally, they’re claiming the Maapilim is a full size which, if you check their website, it is not.

    That’s annoying.

    • The day/night cream at 1 oz is full size on their site. It retails for $ 49 .You may be confusing it with the regular moisturizer.

      • If it is the day/night it’s super confusing because it says moisturizer, so I was going off of that also

      • I cant find the day/night listed anywhere

    • 1 oz. is the full size on the Maapilim website, in your choice of a glass jar or “travel-friendly plastic tube,” and retails for $49. Allure is sending the 1 oz. plastic tube, so it is full size.

I calculate the RV of this box (not including the 6th item, the foil packets) as $184, which I think is really good for $23, especially since I will use all of these products. The eye serum and moisturizer alone retail for $134.

      • Oh I see it now it’s tiny script on the bottom of it that says day and night it just doesn’t say it in the discrimination of it that I was reading. Since msa has it listed a moisturizer, I had no clue there were different ones thanks

      • Description lol autocorrect again

  23. I think I remember getting the peel pack. So if I did, allure will send me the Hero patches which I won’t be using because I don’t get pimples any more. (One of the few benefits of getting old)

I remember getting the Moon Child palette in a box. I didn’t keep it because I don’t use highlighter.

I’m kind of disappointed with Allure. They jack the price but don’t follow through a better experience.

    • I remember the peel packs. I had to search to see if the acne dots were a repeat, but it was a different brand. Maybe my 11yo will like the acne patches.

    • The pimple patches are actually tiny hydrocolloidal bandages, so they would also be good for covering bug bites or small wounds and will speed healing

      • I sliced my finger on a kitchen knife and these “Pimple patches” were great for helping it heal. Small enough that they didn’t mess up my work typing like the bandaid did.

    • I am not try to be snarky here I promise but I can assure you that not getting pimples has absolutely NOTHING to do with getting old and is not one of the benefits of ageing for everyone. I am still going strong in the acne department at my age and have never slacked off so count your blessings!

      • I’ll be 60 on my next birthday.

      • I get more pimples now at menopause because my hormones don’t know which end is up. Even younger with no birth control I only got them on the side of my nose when I was sick and blowing it alot. Some days nothing. Other days three or four. I wash my pillow cases and they aren’t where I talk on my phone. I can’t narrow it down to anything else

  24. Does anyone know what the Amazon variation is?

    • They show the Hero patches. Eye pencil will vary.

  25. LOVE M61 yippee!

    • So do I, but unfortunately it’s a variable. Why does Allure do this? I don’t need pimple patches (I did 25 years ago), but I need the M61. I really hope I get the peels and not the pimple patch.

      • Didn’t we already get this?

  26. I’m not even bothering to skip this one the only thing I’ll be keeping out of it would be the three face peel pads if I get them. Everything else will go with the rest of my makeup and skincare cast-offs to the trans shelter because a lot of those kids left home with nothing most not by choice. And the shelter can provide basics but not stuff like makeup that they really want. I know a lot of people donate to women shelters but if you’re so inclined you could also think of the homeless shelters for trans youth. And I said if you’re so inclined, so I’m not looking for an argument everyone’s opinions are different I just wanted to throw out another option for the people that may want to help them as this is never brought up when people say don’t throw stuff away donate it. Have a great day.

    • This is brilliant, thank you SO much for the suggestion. My city has a nonprofit for housing trans people and I’m going to reach out to see if this would help. I have SO much makeup type stuff that I haven’t found a place to donate locally.

    • Agree with Aly – thank you for coming up with another great option to donate – one I’m assuming doesn’t get much, as I’d never ever thought of it.

      • Tis true. Some of these kids leave home with a backpack if they’re lucky. The rate of suicide is also extremely high. A lot of parents just don’t want their “boys” wearing makeup, so out they go. This way the stuff I donate will let them know some adults care about them no matter who they are. I always send packs of throw away spongiest for the eye make up so they don’t need to worry about clean brushes. They are old school but more hygienic than dirty brushes. Thank you both for caring.

  27. I just buy the ones I like through Amazon, which winds up being around one every 3-4 months. For sub box newbies like me who don’t get a ton of other boxes, I think it’s a great choice — easy to skip months, same box for everyone (at least on Amazon), and it’s a great deal if you like the hero product. I know I’m in the minority here, but I appreciate the simplicity of it, and if I can get a product I’m eager to try (like the Akar) plus some other goodies at a deep discount every few months, I’m happy.

    • I pick up the Amazon box every now and and again, even though I’m subscribed to Allure.

It doesn’t always guarantee I’ll get exactly what I want, but it does even the odds a little.

  28. Yeah glad I skipped (again.) It’s not that it’s necessarily a “bad” box but the only thing I would use is the akar. I think the reason there is so much disappointment (again) is because Allure really hasn’t provided a better subscription experience as they promised with the price hike. I’m kicking myself for signing up for an annual (and getting that lackluster “mega bundle,) because most months have been seriously ho hum. Live and learn I guess and be more cautious when signing up for 12 months of boxes.

  29. Well, the eye serum is surely expensive! The full size is all of 10ml?.. 🙄

Has anyone tried it before? I see a lot of reviews online mention it’s been in Ipsy.

    • 10ml lasts forever in an eye serum, though. My current favorite eye cream (more of a thin serum) is Context Vit C All Day Eye Cream – it’s $35 for 5ml, but it lasts a long time. I’ve managed to never have to pay full price for it since it’s been in a couple bags, fortunately, but since it works I actually would be willing to pay close to full price for it. While I swap out to use my samples of various eye items, I haven’t found one with the same results for depuffing and brightening yet – except in the February Fashionsta box. There was the Herbal Dynamics Beauty VIVID REVIVAL® MANGO & GREEN TEA FIRMING EYE MASK in that that you can use as a sleeping mask or eye cream, as there doesn’t seem to be anything in it that needs washed off. And it’s amazing for depuffing. I wear it for 20min or overnight, usually, if my eyes start looking puffy. I’ll need to see if the longer term results stack up (As the Context Vit C isn’t just good for a quick de-puff and brighter “I’m alive” look, but over time did help the health of my eye lids, decrease fine lines, etc.)

Anyways all that rambling to say that 10ml is definitely a good size for an eye serum, so $85 for 10ml isn’t too outrageous if it works. (Not that I would buy one for that since beauty subs abound.) And if it’s a good one, I won’t have to hunt up another tube of Context for when my current one and backup run out. If it doesn’t work, I guess I’ll use it on my neck and smile lines. Those have gotten so much less noticeable since I started using me least favorite eye creams from boxes on them.

  30. Allure really pulled one over on all of us with a price increase and promised better product value. It’s been mostly junk. I’m almost through my annual and I’m DEF not renewing!

    • My thoughts exactly! My renewal is up next month and I canceled. Boxy, ipsy plus, and fff all the way 🙂

    • Ugh I tried to skip this months box and apparently it had been shipped out already? Usually they don’t send me a shipping notification until at least the 15th of the month and all of a sudden when I want to skip it they’ve somehow shipped it in the first week? I guess I’m forced to take it, won’t really be issuing anything except maybe the eye serum

  31. Not exciting to me, but I’m getting it mostly for the serum. Will try the face moisturizer, the peeling, and the hair mask. The rest is going to be gifted.

  32. I signed up for Allure in December 2019 and the Moonchild palette was in there. Given the amount of them I’ve seen at TJ Maxx, I doubt Allure has been buying up a ton of new ones. So basically, you’ll be getting a nearly 2 year old palette as your “gift”. Enjoy!

    • I have the feeling everything in this particular box is old.

      • New members seem to be getting the old stuff. I can see the appeal of cleaning out their old stuff, but it should be in addition to not counted as an item.

    • I was just thinking the same thing. I got it in my December 2019 Allure box too and guarantee they haven’t bought a bunch of new ones. What a great new member gift lol

      • Well I mean it doesn’t spoil anyway – just isn’t exactly an exciting item after all this time.

      • I really wish the moonchild palette wasn’t a new members only gift! I would have been really excited to get it, since i didn’t have them in 2019:(

  33. So Allure can now be compared with Glossybox in terms of what you get, but not with Boxycharm or ipsy Glam Bag Plus.

    • I agree with this

    • I totally agree too

    • Agree three
