My ZOO Box Review March 2021 – Bald Eagle

Note: The following item was received in our first box, not this month's box!

Zoo Passport

In your first box, you will receive a passport so that your child can add new animal stickers to it each month. It features glossy pages with various animal prints and plenty of room to fill it up with stickers.

My son was so excited to receive this month's box! I may have given him a heads up what the animal would be!

Passport Sticker

This month, we received this magnificent bald eagle sticker to add to our passport.

Bald Eagle Marshy Treats Recipe

This card lists all of the items in our box and it includes a recipe for "Bald Eagle Marshy Treats" on the back. I should note that these recipes are just cute ways to make treats shaped like the animal we receive. This month's recipe involved using marshmallows and shredded coconut to make treats that resembled bald eagle heads with cashews for the beak and chocolate for the eyes. One of these days we will get around to making one of the recipes for you! I just didn't have the ingredients on hand this time.

My son is getting familiar with the contents of this box and he said to me "what recipe do we have this month?" So it seems that this is definitely appealing to kids and a memorable part of the experience!

Bald Eagle Info Card

The glossy photos they include on these cards are great and the back contains a letter from the animal with plenty of facts about them. They always include lesser-known facts which means we always learn something from these cards no matter how much my son already knows about the animals! We were both impressed by the fact that their wingspan can be up to 8 ft! That's floor to ceiling!

Wild Republic Ecokins Mini Bald Eagle   - Estimated Retail Value $14.99 (based on other Ecokins Minis)

This is Downy, an impressive Bald Eagle stuffie whose tail is actually a bit stiff and whose fur is textured to mimic feathers. This is one of the Ecokins stuffed animals which are made with recycled water bottles, although I linked to the Cuddlekins version since I wasn't able to verify whether this was the same as ours. He really is cute and my son is thrilled with him!

So happy!

Blastoff Readers Bald Eagles Book - Retail Value $6.99

This month they sent us a new style of book and this one is pretty great! My son is beginning to read just a little bit so I appreciated the bold words (which correspond to a glossary at the back) and all of the different charts which made it easy for him to help with the reading.

He appreciated the menu chart and the comparison of a bald eagle's size to a human's!

Bald Eagle Anatomy Poster

The posters that they include each month are so informative and cool! Each animal is so unique and it's fun to see the differences between them each month. My son actually pretends these are the animal's x-rays when he plays veterinarian!

I love naming a body part and then having him locate it for me. He knows his letters and their sounds, so it's usually easy for him to find them so it's a great way to slip in some reading in a really engaging way!

Wild Republic Bald Eagle Slap Watch  - Retail Value $5.99

Our toy this month is an awesome slap bracelet watch with a fun rubber eagle on it. The watch face has the eagle's face and it's so cool looking! It was easy to set by just removing it from the rubber eagle body. This is such a fun and unique toy! I linked to what I think is the same (or at least similar) bracelet, although it has terrible reviews. The quality of ours seems to be pretty good and I can't see the eagle breaking easily. I was able to slide it off and back on the bracelet portion easily, but I guess time will tell!

He was pretty in awe of it!

Bald Eagle Art

Elmer's Glue Stick - Buy 2 for $1.19

This month we received a torn eagle art activity. They provided several pieces of construction paper, a paper template for younger kids, and a glue stick for us. The idea is to tear up the colored paper and put it back together in the form of an eagle collage.

My son decided to do his freestyle instead of using the template, so he is not quite done yet, but I love the skills this little craft is teaching! It also inspired my daughter to make her own collage art, so we had a nice little art session in the morning!

Verdict: I love that My ZOO Box sent such a cool animal, which we learned is no longer endangered (yay!). If you have ever seen a bald eagle in real life, they are massive and quite magnificent. We had a great time learning more about them and my son was really happy with the contents of his box. While I couldn't verify the value of the stuffed animal, I think that between that, the book, and the slap watch we are close to $28 which is pretty good for a $34.95 plus free shipping box considering that doesn't take into account the extras like the poster, art activity, recipe, info card, or sticker! Plus, my son's enthusiasm and love for the cute stuffed animals they send doesn't hurt!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order by the 25th to receive next month's box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Another cool box! I can’t remember what zoo/museum it was at, but I (as an adult) have sat in a replica of a bald eagle’s nest… they are HUGE! I bet your son would be amazed. Also, I think it’s so cute and clever that he uses the anatomy posters as X-rays!

That is so cool! My son would definitely be amazed by that! I’ll have to see if I can find anything like that near us! 🙂 Thanks for reading, Amy in KC!
