FabFitFun Spring 2021 Review

Let's see what is inside! (If you aren't familiar, FabFitFun lets subscribers pick several of their items each season - I'll show you what I picked for each selection.)

First choice item:

Choice 1 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • Alice + Olivia Daisy Print Duffle Bag
  • Perricone MD Essential FX Acyl-Glutathione Moisturizer
  • Monroe Sunburst Solerose Watch
  • Milk Watermelon Brightening Mask and Serum
  • Jenni Kayne Water Hyacinth Tray with Handles
  • Shoshanna Umbrella
  • CALPAK Tutti Fruity Packing Cubes
  • Short Stories LED Indoor Planter with Basil Seeds

My Pick:

Alice + Olivia Daisy Print Duffle Bag

This was a tough choice because I was really, really torn between the bag, the Milk set, or the Perricone MD product. I ended up grabbing the bag because I LOVE daisies and I am always on the lookout for a good weekender-sized bag. Even though travel isn't a thing for me right now, I use them to haul art supplies to and from studio sessions. The main color of this bag is black, meaning it shouldn't show dirt (or paint!) very easily. This is a great size for lots of clothing or supplies and the fabric is a heavier canvas texture that should hold up nicely over time. It arrived with a black adjustable shoulder strap and a very cute zipper pull.

Second choice item:

Choice 2 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • MAC Lipstick Duo
  • Billion Dollar Brows 6pc Pro Brush Essentials Kit
  • Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil
  • Splendid Crystal Pink Faux Fur Slippers
  • Gaiam Studio Select Ultimate Core Toning Kit
  • Steel Mill Co To-Do Planning Bundle
  • Our Place Layered Lunch Box with Clips and Utensils

My Pick:

MAC Lipstick Duo: Powder Kiss Lipstick in 'Werk Werk Werk' and 'Reverence'

This was ANOTHER hard choice! I really love using argan oil for facial massages and those pink fluffy slippers were another tempting option. I ended up selecting the MAC lipsticks, though, because I am a lipstick collector (well, hoarder) and I really hope to be wearing a lot more lipstick in 2021 than 2020! The formulas that arrived were both from MAC's Powder Kiss line, and I am kind of obsessed. These give you the matte finish without any dryness! The finish does indeed feel like a super lightweight powdery slip. You can apply heavily for a true matte look or apply in the center of your lips and feather out for a very trendy fade.

'Reverence' is a warmer leaning ballet pink shade that I thought would be too light but the more I wore it the more I loved it. It is a great shade for spring!

'Werk Werk Werk' is a super glam cool red that I loved immediately!

Third choice item:

Choice 3 – All members get the chance to customize these options in their box.

  • Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Hair Masque
  • Verso Botanicals Super Eye Serum
  • Joy Dravecky Chloe Ring
  • Bloomingville Woven Seagrass Coasters
  • Alice + Olivia Reversible Bucket Hat

My Pick:

Alice + Olivia Reversible Bucket Hat

Alright, I know I might get a lot of flack in the comments for this choice, but I have no regrets. A little background: growing up, we never had a ton of extra $$$ for all the super trendy '90s clothing and accessories. We had to wear khakis and polos to school and the budget leftover for more "expressive" items was small. This is actually a huge reason why I am LOVING the recent resurgence of '90s trends because now I can wear what I want, I make my own money, and I can afford all of the '90s sweatshirts and bike shorts I want. So hate on my new hat if you must, but I love it and it matches my new bag. I also think it will totally bring a very specific flavor to 2021 fishing trips and hikes.

This hat is reversible too, going from the black daisy print to pure white. But, why would I ever do that? I also found that it fit my larger head just fine (mine measured right around 23 inches in diameter).

Sorry, not sorry, I feel great about this choice. Alexa, play Jamiroquai!

Fourth choice item:

  • Sorbus Makeup Organizer
  • AHAVA Refreshing Facial Cleansing Gel
  • Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar
  • Lark and Ives Hair Scarf Bundle
  • Grown Alchemist Body Cream
  • ELEMIS Papaya Enzyme Peel

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

My Pick:

Sorbus Mini Organizer With 9 Slots- Daisy Print

I really leaned into the daisy theme with this box. What is more "spring" than a ditzy daisy? I also kind of needed something to help organize the chaos on top of my bedroom vanity. I may own way too many lipsticks (and up another 2 from this box!) but I still have favorites I wear more often than others and a smaller organizer like this is handy and also cute. I can fit about 10 lipsticks and glosses on the right side and the left section is open for pots or other makeup items I want to keep close by. And I am really fond of those daisies on the blue background.

Fifth choice item:

Only Annual Members get to customize these options in their box. Otherwise, FabFitFun will choose the best option for you.

  • PUR Iconic Glow Illuminating Face and Body Dry Oil
  • Camp Collection Dip Dye Market Tote
  • Cocofloss Tropical Trio
  • Summer and Rose Rose Tweezer and Pouch
  • H Halston Aloe Socks

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

My Pick:

PUR Iconic Glow Illuminating Face and Body Dry Oil

With summer on the way (please hurry!!) my thoughts go to glowing skin. Now, I want to be clear that although this bottle says "Face and Body" I don't think this is ideal for most faces. Why? The number one ingredient is Ethylhexyl palmitate which is pretty comedogenic. That aside, I actually loved this on my arms, legs, and collarbones. It adds a sunlit glow and slight shimmer that looks great! The formula also absorbs quickly and has a soft scent that smells maybe a little like neroli.

Now that we've gone through all the choice options, all subscribers will get 3 additional items that FabFitFun picks for them.

FabFitFun will surprise you with three items from this category.

  • EACH Jewels Flower Hair Clips 2 pack
  • Human and Kind Hand Scrub Elderflower Raspberry
  • Earth Harbor Marina Brightening Ampoule

I received:

EACH Jewels Flower Hair Clips

YES! My daisy theme is complete! I was hoping for the clips. They are so much cuter in person than in images because they actually have an opalescent shine to the petals that is hard to capture in photos. I like little clips like this because they add a little flavor and fun to my otherwise messy hair. They are also great for clipping back unruly frizz.

Messy-bun approved!

  • Skin Forum Suns Out Pouts Out Lip Mask
  • Pink Sky Cactus Cup with Straw
  • Cali Cosmetics Body Wash

I received:

Cali Cosmetics Body Wash in 'Peach Champagne'

I don't normally like super fruity scents but the fragrance of this body wash is soft and peachy in a way I enjoy. As far as performance, it worked as a body wash should. It created a nice lather, left my skin feeling clean and soft, and smelled great in my shower. Not much more I can ask for!

  • Saie Beauty Makeup Rounds 3 Pack
  • Nails Inc Nail Polish

I received:

Nails Inc Nail Polish in 'Mayfair Lane'

Nails Inc makes a great polish. Even on my problematic nails, it lasts a few days without chipping. Since I can barely get some polishes to last more than 48 hours, that is a pretty good run for my oily nails. The color I received was a totally girly pale pink that had great opaque coverage in two coats. It also felt like it dried really fast.

Kind of close to my skin tone, but the whole look is very clean and more than a little chic.

Verdict: This might be my favorite FabFitFun box I have received yet. The vibes were all about daisies, the '90s, and spring – three of my favorite things. I absolutely love my bag and bucket hat set. These are both items I might not have treated myself to if I was in a store, but I certainly would have wanted to! So getting them as options in this box felt so fun. The daisy makeup organizer and hair clips really put the floral feels over the top in the best way. MAC makes my favorite lipsticks so getting not one, but TWO of them was also a massive win. Even my FFF choices ended up being total winners for me. This box felt like it had tremendous value and the quality of the items inside was also great. While I gifted a lot of items from my Winter 2020 box as Christmas presents, I think this box is all about me!! I am totally ready for a flower power spring and summer.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I didn’t get a plastic catus cup. I felt the plastic organizer was cheap. I can get one at the dollar store. My main complaint was Summer and Rose quality.

andrea

annual member and still haven’t received box had to contact customer service hopefully I get the spring box before summer.

I did not get the daisy clips. So sad. 🙁

This was a nicer box than I thought it would be! I got almost all different choices than you aside from the makeup rounds which are very soft and fluffy. I like the gaiam pilates bands, the cocofloss is easier to use than drug store floss!, the watch band is very stiff but it looks like a cute work accessory, I am totally rocking my adult gumball ring- (a little quarantine glamour), the marine harbour ampoule, grown alchemist cream are both nice quality. The only really questionable item I got are the lip masks. I hope they can be cut in half because taping your mouth shut for 20 minutes to achieve moist lips does not sound fab or fun! :/

As of 3/8/21, the following items are sold out for the Spring 2021 box: Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer, Monroé Classique Watch in Sunburst Solérose, Jenni Kayne Water Hyacinth Tray with Cutout Handles, Shoshanna Umbrella, CALPAK Set of 3 Packing Cubes in Sorbet, Mac Lipstick Duo, and Splendid Faux Fur Slippers in Pink in size Small/Medium. The pink slippers are still available in size Medium/Large. I did find a 40% off discount code for your first box. Paula Homes on youtube posted her affiliate link: https://tidd.ly/3oEpHp6. The discount code is SPRING40 so the price should be $29.99. It should work until 3/22/21 unless products sell out sooner.

A lot of these items are inexplicably back right now (the watch, packing cubes, Perricone…), plus there’s a bunch of throwbacks to choose from

For anyone who has received the Cactus Cup and is planning on giving it to children … may I strongly recommend you do not.

My six year old claimed it, and within an hour the straw had cracked and broken and turned into a choking hazard. She was supervised, and I saw the issue and tossed the straw before it could become a problem, but it’s not safe for children.

Sadly customer service was also … not particularly helpful or compassionate about the situation. Telling me that poolside safety was a consideration of the product that nearly hurt my child was not an appropriate response.

In my annual box I got the: Duffel Bag, Slippers, Hair Masque, Hair Scarves, Tweezers, Pink Socks, Earth Harbor Marina Serum, Lip Masks, & Makeup Rounds. I think all of the products are great quality except for the slippers. If you are overweight, then the cushioning will wear out in a couple of days. The cushion is very thin on the soles. They’re still comfortable to wear. I am really impressed with the H Halston Aloe Infused Gel Lined Socks because if you wear them for an hour they soften your skin and make it easier to remove dead skin or hard skin. I am giving away the hair mask because I don’t like to use silicone hair products in my curly hair. I just ordered an additional seasonal box with the $15 off coupon. In my second box I picked the LED Planter, Josie Maran Argan Oil, & Bucket Hat. As of 3/6/21, the only items sold out in customizations 1 through 3 are the Mac Lipstick Duo & the Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer.

Does anyone know what items are still left if I subscribe now?

JJ Casuals

I’ll vouch for the water hyacinth woven tray. It’s beautiful!

I just signed up for a seasonal box yesterday. The only items sold out in Customizations 1 through 3 are the Mac Lipstick Duo and the Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer. I didn’t sign up for the annual subscription so I don’t know what’s still left on Customizations 4 or 5.

Got my box yesterday. I was excited about the pink slippers, but one strap fell off so had to staple it together. I did think this box had a few cheaply made products. Fab Fit Fun is sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. This box was meh, and had that 90s theme going.

Annual subscriber here and I received my box about a week ago (end of Feb.) It contained my five choices: the tray, mesh bag, plastic organizer, slippers, and eye serum. The surprise FFF picks that I received were perfect for me: the Earth Harbor ampoule serum, reusable cotton rounds (so soft and fluffy and better the environment than my cotton ones) and the cactus cup. Yes, I am a cactus cup fan. Pool, beach, vacation, mixed drink. So fun! (I’m in my late 30s for reference) 🙂

My box was sent to FedEx on Feb 13th, where it sat. It showed up in Indianapolis two weeks later. Now it’s in Kansas City. I live in Minnesota. Sigh.

Well I’m glad someone got something cute. My daughter and I both got almost identical boxes full of unbelievable cheap, junk, throw-away sheet. Nothing at all that we signed up for. I have no words for how awful a cheap macrame -something- awful – just awful thing – and a purple cactus with a straw that has plastic so cheap you know the toxic chemicals will leech out into whatever liquid you put in it! A purple jump rope – just so much junk. Everything in the box, and the box, was put into the goodwill pile, with the exception of the purple cactus. That thing is so ridiculous and unhealth it went straight into the trash. I am cancelling my subscrption.

Reply ButtonReply

amyr

Did you customize? I don’t think the cup is leeching anything. The purple thing is not a jump rope. It is an excellent resistance band. I use bands and tubing in workouts all the time and I was impressed in what I could do to add resistance to bicep curls, triceps, etc. I stand with feet on each of one side and do my curls with the other. Great!

The other Lee

Well, aren’t you a ray of sunshine…

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

😂 l agree.

The Other Lee

Now that I got my box, I’m pretty happy. It isn’t the most exciting but I will use almost everything.
My FFF picks were the ampoule, the cosmetic rounds and the lip masks.
Did anyone else choose the ring? I never pick jewelry because it is usually really cheap looking but there was nothing else in the category I liked. I actually kind of like it now that I have it. I just have to be really careful about getting anything oils, etc on it. The sizing works with my fat fingers 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

katie

I also chose the ring and it does look much better in person. I just wish it had more color.
FFF chose the lip masks and the polish for me (2 things that I really didn’t want). They also
chose the ampoule which I like. It was an okay box,not one of my favorites.

Reply ButtonReply

melissa

My stone fell out of my ring the very first day!

Sarah

Anybody else NOT get the items they picked?????!???

Reply ButtonReply

Darlene

I did not get the items I picked…..very disappointed.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashleigh

So I got my box today, and my kids and I had SUCH a fun time opening it! We played with the exercise equipment and ball, they marveled at my strange “jello” socks, and loved the cactus cup. It may not have been my favorite box ever, but it sure put some fun into my day. Gotta go, my daughter is playing waitress with the tray and my water is on the way!

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

I love the hair clips so much! Great review!

Reply ButtonReply

SheriH

I too chose the tote and bucket hat. I rounded it out with the face mask too. I am getting the hair clips, the cactus cup, and facial rounds.

Reply ButtonReply

Charlotte

You are seriously making me regret I didn’t choose the bucket hat! It looks great on you. (I have to remind myself that it would have made me look like a potato, which is *why* I didn’t choose it.)

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I doubt VERY much you would have looked like a potato. ♥️

Reply ButtonReply

KateM

@Megan…I think that you look great with that bucket hat!! Maybe more people would have chosen it if you modeled it for FFF?! Great review by the way!!

@Charlotte you made me LOL about looking like a potato head! I’m certain the hat wouldn’t do that…but maybe telling yourself that will trick you into not having FOMO!

Pilar

I got the Brightening Ampoule, Makeup Rounds, and the Cactus cup just like I wanted, but I thought that it was strange that the cactus cup had no working website it was very odd. Also not trying to be rude but that Cali Cosmetic body wash look like it came from the Dollar Store lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

I totally agree that it looks like a dollar store product between the cheap packaging, dated design, and the odd branding. I looked them up and it appears to be a house brand from a company who sources and labels hotel bathroom toiletries, so not even something you can repurchase. Odd.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

That is so interesting. Who would have thunk it ? They must have gotten a great deal on it.

Megan K.

I don’t think that is rude at all, Pilar! It is a legit wonder in terms of the quality of a product from a brand you don’t know. Using it felt a little more luxurious, if that helps! 🙃

Reply ButtonReply

xtine

Am I the only one who wants the cactus cup? I am terrible with plants, even succulents, however I think I would do okay with this one considering it isn’t even alive 😉 But seriously, I hope I get the cactus cup. Was super bummed it wasn’t a choice item lol

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly

I bet you anything someone will be willing to trade you. I would have but I didn’t receive it either.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan_A

I got the cactus cup and I am going to put it in a Easter basket for my daughter. I know that she is going to love it.

Reply ButtonReply

G

Oh no, I SOOO wanted that Cactus cup! And I got it!! It’s awesome and fun and hilarious! It makes me so happy. 😁 💚🏜️

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I think it is so cute, but I always lose cute cups. More often than I kill plants, actually!

Reply ButtonReply

Kay

I picked the bucket hat, too, and can’t wait ’til it gets here!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Heck yeah! We should start a club. I hope you love it like I did!

Reply ButtonReply

suzi

I chose the bucket hat because my teenager wanted it. I really wanted those MAC lipsticks but they were sold out when I logged on to make my choices. Hoping for those daisy hair clips. They’re really cute.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Fingers crossed! I am all about those daisies!

Reply ButtonReply

ElephantNoises

Would love to see MSA review more varieties of the FFF subscription. There are so many different options for customization that if there were at least 2 versions reviewed, we could get a more complete feel.

Reply ButtonReply

Amy G

That’s a great idea! I have 2 subscriptions and even so, had hardly any overlap with the items in Megan’s box.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hey ElephantNoises! I think this is a good suggestion. We attempt to get all the items for photography (sometimes we miss a few!) but more info on each could be helpful for sure. At the very least, I can include more details per item next time? Would that be a good start? Either way, I will bring your feedback to the team. Thanks for reading!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan

Yay, someone else who picked all the daisy things! The bucket hat is honestly my favorite thing from the entire box, I don’t care if people think it looks childish, it’s making my inner child happy and that’s all I care about anymore! I am just so envious of your daisy clips though, I see so many complaints about them but I’m so bummed they weren’t picked for me, lol

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Maybe Megans are predisposed to fun hats. 🤔 🧐
Either way, daisy on!

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

FFF saw fit to send me that awful cactus cup. Donated.
