Beauty Heroes March 2021 Review feat. Ranavat

Beauty Heroes included a handy info booklet featuring our brand this month: Ranavat. This is a brand I already know and love so this delivery feels extra special! The products this month are new to me, but this brand has always been one of those that smells incredible, nourishes my skin, and is just gorgeous to look at.

Ranavat Imperial Glow Facial Polish, 100 mL - Retail Value $42.00

Our first item is a tube of face polish. The tube itself is metal and the deep green color is beautiful. It has a soft rose scent and is very creamy. The texture of the exfoliants is very, very gentle and made of rice powder. You can totally feel the texture but it is not aggressive at all. In fact, I found I could scrub as firmly as I wanted with this polish and it never felt harsh. It turned milkier the longer I massaged it and felt really nice on my skin, though I wouldn't say it left behind that stereotypical "clean" feeling. Since I am someone who already oil cleanses, I am used to that sort of finish, but it is worth noting. I also noticed the calming sensation I felt after using it due to the gentle massage effect and probably also the inclusion of ashwagandha!

Ranavat Mighty Majesty Fortifying Hair Serum, 50 mL- Retail Value $70.00

While I don't use a ton of hair products regularly, I do use a lot of hair serums, especially on dry ends to smooth them and prevent frizz. This formula is an absolute dream and it is beautifully simple, limited to just three ingredients: amla extract, jasmine oil, and sunflower oil. You can also use it on your scalp overnight to soothe irritation and dryness. I always seem to get redness around my hairline, and this serum really helped. I also rubbed it in my eyebrows too! Even if this stuff wasn't absolutely dreamy, I would use it for the wild blooming jasmine scent alone. I had a woman stop me in the grocery store to ask me what I was wearing. The fact that we are wearing masks around here and she could still smell it is a testament to its subtle strength.

Ranavat Sacred Rose Hand Cream, 1 oz - Retail Value $32.00

The third item is a little tube of hand cream with a beautiful bird and botanical package. It smells just like rose petals! As someone who grew up going to rose shows (and even competing a few times!), this scent is very nostalgic for me and takes me back to warm summers as a kid, in my tiny rose garden. Aside from smelling lovely, rose also softens and hydrates skin, and this formula has paired the rose with aloe, sesame oil, sunflower oil, and sweet almond oil. This is a heavier sort of cream that feels especially wonderful on hands that are chapped and dry from hand washing and hand sanitizer. I actually applied a thicker layer last night and then wrapped my hands in a hot towel, and it was pure bliss.

Ranavat Eternal Reign Renewing Bakuchi Crème Sample, unknown size - Buy a full size 50 mL for $85.00

Also included this month was a little foil of a renewing cream. I was immediately a big fan because the hero ingredient here is bakuchiol, which is a plant-based alternative to retinol. Whenever I have a client who wants the benefits of retinol but has reactive or super sensitive skin, I always recommend they try a formula with this much gentler ingredient. In fact, these two ingredients aren't related at all, but they both change skin cells in the same way, meaning you get the benefits of fine line reduction, improved texture, and more without the harsh effects of a typical retinol. Bakuchiol is derived from a plant called Babchi and has long been used in Indian and Chinese medicine. If you have struggled with retinols before, this is totally worth a try. I also loved that this little plant extract was boosted with the inclusion of niacinamide, sesame, and licorice root to make the whole formula really wonderful for skin. Because the weight is a little heavier (but still somehow whipped?) I liked it for before bed use, as the very last step in my routine.

Verdict: Beauty Heroes was amazing this month. I knew it would be because Ranavat is such a fantastic line. I also thought the range of products included was nice. We had a skin product, a hair formula, and a hand cream. It felt nicely rounded and very pampering. This is one of those brands that you just enjoy using so much. The textures, the scents, and the active ingredients all come together to deliver a real sort of experience. We did great value-wise this month too, with the retail landing at $144.00 without the value of our sample.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve been using the hair oil on my face and have been enjoying it. I’m 41 with oily skin. I tend to slather anything and everything on it and my skin has never felt better.

The facial polish is okay as the particles are very fine. I haven’t noticed a difference.

And the hand cream is VERY scented. I don’t mind the scent of rose but it isn’t in my top 10 favorite scents. My husband hates rose though and so this is being passed along to my mom when she visits.

After 4 or 5 months of this box, I can say that I won’t be renewing after my annual membership runs out. I paid about $450ish for the year and would rather spend that money on Hanacure and AmorePacific, which are my favorite two skincare lines.

I am so sad I didn’t like this month discovery, and especially this hair oil.
I ship it to Europe, thus it was around $70 for me for the box, and the face polish is the only thing I can use, as I can wash of the scent quickly.
I love scents in general, but this hair oil is so strong, just a drop, makes my eyes and nose react as if I had an allergy, and I also prefer not to smell so strongly around other people who may have allergies or sensitivities.
Tried twice, never want to try again.
The hand cream is a normal hand cream.

I loved so much February’s discovery, but this month, sadly, I don’t enjoy any of three items, despite all the good reviews and me waiting for this box to arrive so much.

From this month I’ve only user the hair serum and I like a lot. I didnt notice the foil sample when I took the items out of the box – maybe I throw it out 🙁

My mom love rose scent so I think I will give the hand cream to her.

I didn’t get the sample either.

Speaking of Boxwalla! Was there a review posted of the February box that I just can’t find on here? The Nini Organics box.

The scent of the hair oil is so fantastic! I can only use a drop, or it makes my hair greasy. Thankfully it’ll last me awhile.

Lovely review, Megan. It’s nice to hear your enthusiasm about a brand that you personally love. I have subscribed to various skincare boxes over the years and I have to say that they all seriously feel like a gift each month. Most of us probably wouldn’t purchase such items on our own (or wouldn’t know about a particular brand/product) without these amazing niche skincare boxes and I am so glad you review them here!

I enjoyed your review and hearing another POV. I think Ranavat is overrated, the emperor’s new clothes.

The Bakuchi cream comes in a jar, beauty 101 – jars are bad. Even if you don’t mind your expensive ingredients are being destroyed by air, your fingers are putting bacteria in a green product wiry little preservatives.

The hand cream contains the equivalent of a shot glass. I like it but I find a need a lot so it’s going quite fast.

The face polish hurts my face. I’ve been using as a mask instead.

The hair serum I like & the pump packaging is appreciated. Will I rebuy? At $70 we will see!

Ugh, I would have loved to have jumped on this while it was available. With Boxwalla going to an online retailer format this box is likely going to be my replacement.
Great review!

The Boxwalla boxes aren’t going anywhere, that’s misleading. They’re just adding a store similar to what BH does.

Yay! You just made my day! I totally misinterpreted the email.

Thank you! I was going to say the same thing, but didn’t want to say anything wrong.
