Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from a variety of stationery, beauty, food subscriptions – and more. Here are our favorite subscription box items from January 2021:
Abby's Favorite:
The Item: Kopari Mini Beach Deodorant
The Cost: $10.00
From: Kinder Beauty
Why I love it: Kopari makes my absolute favorite deodorant; the original smells, feels and works fabulously, but this beach version smells like a day at the beach. I am not kidding when I said I shed a tear when I breathed in this nostalgic fragrance. I can wear this natural deodorant all day, and my pits are moisturized and lightly fragranced. It is lovely!

Lindsey's Favorite:
The Item: 2017 Undercard Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cost: $17.99 (or $15.99 through the subscription)
From: Winc
Why I love it: This cabernet sauvignon from Winc really blew my socks off. It was like velvet in a glass; the mouthfeel was smooth, luxurious, and lush. The flavor was packed with dark red cherries, and it had a subtle hint of baking spice (clove and mace, especially) and leather. I loved this wine so much I felt moved to express my adoration in Seussian verse. I included my fun little poetry attempt in my Winc review, and here it is again in case you missed it: I would drink this on a train, I would drink this on a plane; I would drink this with a steak, I would drink this with some cake; I would drink this in the sun, I would drink this just for fun; I would drink this any time... I hope you like my vino rhyme.

Ragan's Favorite:
The Item: Nutrisentials Leantreats Cat Treats
The Cost: $3.99
From: VetPet Box Cat
ACTIVE DEAL: Save $15 off your first box!
CODE: VetPet15MSA
Why I love it: It's more that my cats like these. Usually I will receive a cat treat in a subscription box and one or two cats will eat it, but all three of my cats enjoyed these. My cats are older (they will turn 13, 14, and 15 this year) and are somewhat fussy about food but united in their enjoyment of these treats. Although they are marketed as low calorie for weight loss, I'm feeding a bunch of them to Madison (my black cat) to help him maintain or gain weight. Also they stay fresh even after they've been open awhile, and they're not too stinky.

Becca's Favorite:
The Item: Crazy Go Nuts Garlic Parmesan Walnuts
The Cost: Buy a 12 pack for $23.99
From: Keto Krate
Why I love it: I love walnuts, and garlic is probably my favorite flavor of basically anything, so a combo of these is pretty much sheer bliss. The only downside to these bad boys is the garlic flavored smooches my husband gets after eating them....they are so worth it though!

Brandi's Favorite:
The Item: OwlCrate Exclusive Felt Letter Board Kit
The Cost: $28.00
From: OwlCrate YA
Why I love it: You may be surprised that a letter board is my choice this month because yes, it is something that has been done in subscription boxes before, but this one is so well made and the smaller size makes it perfect for displaying anywhere! The attention to detail from OwlCrate is evident in the thickness of the board, the hanger they included on the back, the amount of letters, numbers, and symbols they included (it’s a lot!), and the cute little bag they provided to store all of the pieces in. It’s a cute, quality item that I appreciated!

Caragh's Favorite:
The Item: Broken Top Candle Company Sea Salt Surf Travel Candle, 4 oz
The Cost: $15.00
From: Beachly
Why I love it: I was so happy to find this beautiful handmade candle in my Beachly Winter 2020 box! It's a nice, cozy reminder of the long summer days we're missing in my house right now. This Sea Salt Surf candle smells amazingly tropical, with notes of jasmine, sweet cream, and a hint of driftwood. I also love the simple glass container and pretty botanical-inspired label. This candle is just 4 oz, but it burns slow with its 100% soy wax and cotton wick. You can feel good knowing that Broken Top is a small, eco-friendly company from Bend, OR, and all products are gluten free, paraben free, phthalate free, and vegan.

Erin's Favorite:
The Item: Sunday Candle Co 4oz – Nordic Cabin
The Cost: $10.00
From: Vellabox
Why I love it: Working on MSA's 2021 Reader's Choice Awards inspired me to check out so many new subscription boxes! While I couldn't sign up for every new box that caught my eye, I'm so glad I gave into temptation with Vellabox. Scented candles have become a major part of my cozy WFH vibe, and a monthly candle subscription feels necessary to keep replenishing my stash. The January candle, Nordic Cabin, truly lives up to its name. It arrived just before a major snowstorm hit, and its wintry, evergreen scent made me feel like I was holed up in a woodsy cabin instead of my New York apartment.
Erin subscribes to Vellabox on her own, but our January Vellabox review is coming soon. In the meantime, check out the January Vellabox spoilers. Read reviews by Erin here!
Samantha's Favorite:
The Item: Classic Blooms Subscription
The Cost: £20.00
From: Bloom & Wild (UK only)
Why I love it: I love having fresh flowers to place in a vase-- seeing as how I spend so much time at home nowadays, I really get to enjoy them! This subscription excites me because I don't find myself relying on supermarket flowers, these letterbox flowers literally come through my letterbox, and I get that unboxing/surprise experience with it! The flowers are beautiful, long lasting, and come with helpful arrangements tips. In January, I received a bouquet with bulbed tulips, and the notecard within indicated that I could plant them in my garden and enjoy them longer than I would have expected. This is one happy little subscription!
