Kids Favorites

Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries in a new category: KIDS subscription boxes! Here are our favorite children's books, kids clothing items, art projects, and more from the past month:

Haley's Favorite:

Small Shop Baby Box Winter 2020 snack holder open

The Item: Foldable Snack Cup from Gray Haven

The Cost: $15.99

From: Small Shop Baby Box

Why I love it: Snack cups like this are amazing. It’s silicone so it’s bendy and flexible, and collapses when it’s empty. These are perfect for the car or grocery shopping or something! It works well for your kid to have a spill-proof way of holding their own snacks. I especially like that this one has a lid! This way, crumbs don’t fall into your purse or bag. I will say that it’s not easy to pour snacks in — you kind of have to hold the top open with one hand and pour the snack in with the other, or you have to push the snacks in. We've used this a lot!

Becca's Favorite:

The Item: The entire Green Kid Crafts Box - "Color Science"

The Cost: $29.95

From: Monthly Science & Art Kids Subscription Box | Green Kid Crafts

Why I love it: 2 words: Jelly Marbles!! This month we explored the science of colors through an array of experiments using jelly marbles and colored dyes. We had a blast mixing, observing, and playing, all while learning. If you haven't seen those jelly marbles in action, you need to get some....they are amazing for sensory bins for kids and adults alike!

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: Heads Talk Tails Walk

The Cost: $15.99

From: Sensory Theraplay

Why I love it: This game is really silly and a lot of fun. It can be played with just about any age and the concept is great as far as a cabin fever-buster! There are large cards featuring the bodies of various animals with smaller cards featuring the heads. You place the large cards face up in the center and then spread the smaller cards face down around them. You take turns picking an outer card trying to match the center card and if it’s not a match, everyone has to walk around the way the animal on the card would while making the sounds that the animal head would. It’s a goofy way to get moving and have some fun!

Christen's Favorite:

Little Feminist age 2-4 book for January 2021

The Item: A Big Mooncake for Little Star by Grace Lin

The Cost: Retail value $18.99 (found on sale here for $11.59)

From: Little Feminist Book Club

Why I Love It: My daughter’s imagination has been set on fire by this book! Not only is some of the playful, question-and-answer style text really fun for her as we read the book together, but she also loves heading to her play kitchen and pretending to make her own mooncakes and putting them up in the sky.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
