Norlii is a bi-monthly home subscription box filled with Scandinavian home decor and accessories. I always marvel at the great curation of the best from minimal brands like Normann Copenhagen and others. There's always a great balance of form and function in this $69.95 (+ shipping) subscription.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Norlii Scandinavian Home & Lifestyle Box February 2021 Review

This month's Norlii is Nordic spa-themed. I wish I could take a vacation to a spa right now, but, haha, not going to happen anytime soon. Hopefully, this box can be a mini-escape!

VIPP Bath Towel - Listed Value $58.00

Will and I are still using towels we have had since we were married. This year, that will be TEN YEARS. So... it might be time for some new towels. Now, while I can see us splurging a little, we won't be buying $58 dollar towels, even though this one does feel so, so nice! It is plush enough to be a blanket and features a very clever rubber tab for hanging it. It is a mix of black and grey twists which give it a serene and slightly masculine vibe that works well in our industrial-leaning bathroom. This towel is made of 100% organic cotton and is a standard feeling 75 x 135 cm size (about 29.5 x 53 inches).

Angan Travel Bath Kit - Retail Value $28.00

I think if these bath treats would have been full-size it might have reflected better on the value of this month's box. I also would have liked bigger sizes because I really enjoy both of these formulas! First, there is a wonderfully nourishing salt scrub that I absolutely loved on the back of my thighs. It contains Icelandic sea salt, Icelandic moss, almond oil, argan oil, and shea. It is scented with bergamot and grapefruit oils but the moss and salt give it a very earthy and very "sea" twist. It left my legs feeling really great and exfoliated for shaving. The bath salts also had a very ocean + herbal scent, with the salty scents of the sea paired with lavender and geranium. Since there wasn't a ton of this (and I kind of want to savor it!) I used it in a warm and relaxing foot soak. Just a spoonful or two does the trick!

Altum 'Amber' Candle - Retail Value $11.18 (£8.00)

This is another item that would have benefitted from being slightly larger. It has a lovely amber scent that is a little sexy and super clean. It had a nice even burn and the scent was strong enough to fill my living room but is more on the subtle side. I was kind of bummed to see this candle was made in China since this box is super Scandinavian focused, but I get that the design and inspiration were Scandinavian and the minimal vibe is certainly on brand.

Ib Laursen Board Altum Sandstone, 10 x 10 cm - Retail Value $8.34 (6.90 €)

This might feel a little boring for some subscribers, but if you live in an old house with wooden fireplaces as I do, you always have to have something to place under a candle for when it burns down and gets super hot. I have left circular marks on mine before and it wasn't a great feeling. This soapstone is simple but structured, and it absorbs the heat from my candles perfectly. You could also use this under a bar of soap.

House Doctor Bamboo Spoon

This was a little freebie in our box this month. It is perfect for scooping out some of that salt scrub or using with any potted skincare or cream.

Verdict:  This month's Norlii was very well curated, but the overall value felt a little lower than some of my other boxes. Sending a second towel and/or larger versions of the other items would have increased the wow factor here for sure. But, this did feel very much like a Norlii box built around a specific theme and including items that fit said theme perfectly. Everything included this month did feel luxe and special, like treasures you might buy from a local boutique on vacation. I just needed a wee bit more to really have my socks knocked off.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is still available to order today!

Value Breakdown: At $79.90 for this box ($69.95 + $9.95 shipping), each of the 6 items inside has an average cost of $15.98. I calculated the bath kit as a single item in this calculation since it is sold as a set.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

This does seems a little light, but I am coveting that towel. I agree that there should be two, though.

I have been wanting to try this box and would have snapped it up if it had two towels. One towel would drive me crazy.

I felt the same way.

A single towel with no buddies would drive me crazy!! I always purchase towels with matching wash clothes and/or hand towels – this would be considered anarchy in my home 🙂

Wow you didn’t even get the cost of the box which is not great. And yes that China candle I would canceled sadly. That wooden spoon I got from something free in mail and I can’t recall where but I use it to mix my kitty food. 🙂

This is one subscription box i plan to continue to purchase as so far they have proved to be very organized which really stands out in the midst of so much chaos in other companies ( who should and could do better). And I appreciate the thought and curation of each product within the given box theme. The items to me feels like having a friend who knows an area you are visiting and is taking you around to all the hidden gems.

This was my second box I was sent by Norlii and I found each item to be very useful as well as beautiful. Truthfully, I wasnt planning on burning my candle very night recently. Grateful we just got our electrical power restored after 8 days ( I am in Oregon and we had quite a bad ice storm hit..no electricity during that time but thankfully we still had water…and a woodburning stove ). Anyway, I am impressed that the candle from this months box still has about 1/3 left to burn after going through nightly use. It was very thoughtful to include the sturdy base to use that would work for protecting surfaces.
In addition, it was quite a treat to enjoy the bath salts and scrub ( and spoon!) to warm up in a tub to soak after a cold day. The quality of those products are excellent and found very relaxing before heading to bed. I didnt dare use the lovely towel ( yet! ) being as I was hand washing only our necessary laundry..but am looking forward to it!

Congrats on the 10 years! I definitely agree with your assessment on everything. Bigger would have been better and a made in China product is a bit of a letdown as well.

I agree too. I was expecting full size beauty products and the candle was tiny. I did not feel like I got my money’s worth. I think there should have been 2 towels. Or the beauty products full size and at least a 16oz candle. Sadly, I cancelled after this one. Also, the other Danish designers who made the cups and bowls in the previous boxes, they were made in China too, says on the bottom of the items.

I’m wondering if anyone who has this box cancels after each order and then resubscribes after seeing the spoilers? For me, I don’t want to risk it with an $80 dollar box getting something I don’t want.

For me the box was “joy filled” and was just enough of the delightful items. This box is an example of quality over quantity. Working towards minimalism lifestyle, this box was perfect !

I agree it felt a little light this time. Hopefully the next box will make up for it.
