Gramma in a Box "Valentine Treats" February 2021 Review

We received this card in our box reminding us to tell a friend.

Each month we receive a card that highlights the theme and lists the contents of our box, which includes two sheets of wax paper that serve as placemats for easy cleanup. The three projects all arrive on individual recipe cards that list the ingredients on the back. The directions are easy to follow and any important information is highlighted in red which is always helpful. This month's theme is "Valentine Treats."

Project #1: Cupid's Arrow

Our first project involved using melting chocolate, pretzel sticks, and candy hearts to make "Cupid's Arrows".

The kids set up their arrows by lining up one large conversation heart at the bottom of a pretzel stick and two small ones at the top of the pretzel stick. I melted the chocolate for them, then I dipped their pretzel stick into the chocolate and placed it back on top of the hearts and we set those aside to set. Really simple! We did have a broken pretzel in the  pack, but I was able to use the chocolate to put it back together.

I thought they turned out pretty cute, although, in hindsight, I probably would have added a little more chocolate!

Project #2: Valentine Candy Cane Hearts

Next, we used the leftover melting chocolate, some crispy rice cereal, candy canes, and some sprinkles to make candy cane hearts.

The kids set up their candy canes to form hearts while I stirred the crispy rice cereal into the leftover chocolate. We had two broken candy canes, but again, the chocolate acted as glue for us, so it was no biggie.

I added a dollop of the mixture to the center of their candy canes and then they added some sprinkles to the top and these got set aside to harden.

These were so good! I always enjoy peppermint and chocolate and these reminded me of white chocolate with peppermint which is a delicious flavor. The crunch of the candy canes and crispy cereal all made for a nice combination.

Project #3: Valentine Cookies

The last project was our cookie decorating. We received red, white, and pink icing along with several cups of sprinkles.

There were 8 cookies for us to decorate. Usually, we receive 4 large cookies and 4 small, but this month all of our cookies were on the smaller side except for the hearts. The lips were cute but so tiny, I feel like we could have used a couple more!

They were all excited to get to the decorating!

We went a little icing crazy this month, but they were still fun and festive!

Here is our finished plate of treats. We had 6 arrows, 6 hearts, and 8 Valentine cookies.

Benny gave these treats a thumbs up!

I love how simple clean-up goes. I usually just recycle the plastic inside of the box it all came in. Then it's just a matter of wiping down the kids and the table before a quick sweep with only a few dishes to do!

Verdict: We always enjoy seeing what themed projects Gramma comes up with each month to send in our Gramma in a Box delivery. These Valentine's treats were pretty cute! We did have a few broken pieces, but luckily that was an easy fix. Overall, we had some fun working together to make some treats and it took no planning or baking on my part, so we were all happy with the results!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Super cute!
Are plastic wrappers like the cookies came in recyclable where you’re at? They definitely aren’t where I’m at

Always enjoy these reviews! On the plastic, where I live the curbside recycling doesn’t allow that type of plastic, but Walmart takes plastic bags, including these

You know, I should probably check into that more specifically! Our recycling rules are pretty vague. Thanks for reading, Boxy Fox!
