World's Finest: The Collection - Holiday Heroes Review

The box arrives with an information card that details the items inside. Everything you see in this box was made exclusively for World's Finest: The Collection.

Green Arrow Hoodie

I am not familiar with Green Arrow, but I think his color scheme is awesome. The hoodie itself is very light, and probably best for late spring or late-night in the summer. I appreciate this hoodie and the design but admit it's not my personal style. I have a few DC Comics-loving friends that may want to have it, or if not, there is a comic book store in town that may be able to find a suitor. I should note that the hoodie I received isn't my size, I reached out to see if I could exchange the XL for a M but have not yet heard back. So once again, this jacket is big on me. So don't judge it by the fit in the photo.

Supergirl Vinyl Figure

This quarter's vinyl figure is Supergirl. It measures around 6 inches high and has a removable base. She is in her classic costume standing in a strong stance. I do think the eyes are a bit distracting on an otherwise great vinyl figure. Perhaps I'm being too picky. I'd like to say this is on display, but the truth is my daughter is flying it around the house.

World's Finest Comic Cover Blanket

I really like this blanket. The printing is crisp and the color really pops. The old school design is great. I just love the idea of these superheroes skiing. The blanket is closer to the size of a throw. So it's more for putting over your lap while you read or play video games. The cover is a recreation of an actual vintage comic book cover. If you are interested in owning said comic, I found you a beat-up copy here for the only $862. There are others for north of $3,000. Not too bad for something that originally cost 15 cents.

The Flash Knit Scarf

Just in time for colder weather, this Flash scarf is killer. Like the comics, the red really pops out at you and looks great wrapped around your neck. It helps that I'm a sucker for red and yellow designs. It'll be interesting to see how bright the colors last through some wear and washes. I've never worn a scarf, but think I'll give this one a chance.

Kryptonian Glow-in-the-Dark Ornament

This cool ornament is about 5 inches tall, rubber, and glow in the dark. It's designed to look like Kryptonite with the Superman logo on it. The glow-in-the-dark feature is fitting because of the glowing nature of Kryptonite. I think this is really neat. Unfortunately, I received this after Christmas. So it will have to wait until next year to make an appearance on our tree.

Greeting Cards with Envelopes

The next two items are bittersweet because they are amazing, but they are SO amazing that you don't want to use them. I'm a big fan of sending cards and letters. So these greeting cards with retro covers on them are right up my (and my wife's) alley. They're even Christmas-themed covers for goodness sake! You get four blank-inside cards and envelopes with the DC logo. I think it would have been awesome to receive a DC Comics pen or stamps in this box as well. Just an idea.

Comic Cover Gift Wrap

I think these gift wrap designs are perfect. You get three different sheets of paper, each sure to make the comic book fan in your life geek out. The paper is heavy-duty too. My only complaint is that I wish there was more. I tried to wrap the subscription box and one sheet wouldn't do it. Which is a moot point, anyway, because these are too cool to use to wrap a present only to be ripped open.

Verdict: This is my second review for World’s Finest: The Collection. Even though I am not the biggest comic book fan, I think this subscription is one of the most impressive that I review. For a relatively common price, subscribers are getting 7-10 solid, exclusive, officially licensed items. Even if an item is a miss for you personally, I don't think it would be difficult to find someone who would take it off your hands. For this box, I really, really want to pick the wrapping paper and cards as my favorite, but as I said, they are so cool I don't want to actually use them. So I'm going to pick something I will use and choose the Flash scarf as my favorite this time around. Having said that, most of the items were a hit for me. Even though the hoodie wasn't my style, I know it will be a lot of people's favorite. I can see the blanket being a big hit, too.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of publication, this box is still available. Sign up today.

Value Breakdown: At $55.99 ($48.99 + $7 shipping), you are paying approximately $8 for each of these 7 items. Remember these are official and exclusive. So I think that adds some value to the items. If you could buy these items in a store, I'm willing to bet the price tag would be much higher. So, if you think you'd enjoy a majority of these items, you want DC items that many people don't have, and you like the surprise of receiving a big box delivered to your door every three months, this would be a good subscription for you or the comic book fan in your life

Please let me know if you still need a home for that Green Arrow hoodie! I love that comic and have read it for years! Great review. If my husband was not a dedicated Marvel guy, I would be all over this box.

I ended up giving it to my brother-in-law over Christmas. Otherwise, I would have definitely sent it your way. Sorry we couldn’t connect. Thanks for commenting.
