My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

AU Sugar Sugar “2020 Can Kiss My Mask” December 2020 Review

This box arrives with information on the box lid that gives you more details about the brand.

It also comes with an info sheet detailing the products included this month.

Au Sugar Sugar The Jessica Hair Care Duo - Listed Value $24.50

The Jessica Reconstructive Hair Conditioner, 6 oz

The Jessica is one of the most iconic Au Sugar Sugar scents of all time, so receiving it in this box felt like a special treat. The fragrance is a blend of pomegranate, peaches, peony, apple, and marshmallow, and I like the way the warm water from my shower mixes with the scent to form a mini cloud of aromatherapy. The conditioner was lightweight and didn’t weigh my hair down, though it isn’t heavy-duty enough if you need deep hydration.

Tu As Mon Coeur Jessica Hair Detangler, 8 oz

The scent on this leave-in detangler is blackberry, apple, melon, and sugar. It has a sweet fruitiness that isn’t overpowering when I spritz it into my hair to help with tangles, and it’s really lightweight on my hair.

Au Sugar Sugar Holiday Cheer Bath Frosting - Listed Value$14

There was a typo in the labeling of this bath frosting-- the scent is a blend of gooey sugar cookie and warm cranberry chutney, and it’s a gourmand bakery scent that makes me feel like a sexier Pillsbury doughboy. This is a signature product from Au Sugar Sugar, and the mix of whipped soap and scattered exfoliating sugar granules cleanses and gently exfoliates your skin without being stripping thanks to the oils and butters this is formulated with. Nine times out of ten when I’m showering, I’m reaching for a bath frosting to soap up.

Au Sugar Sugar 2020 Was A Little Loopy Bath Bomb Champagne Flute - Listed Value $8.50

2020 was a loopy year, so cheers to making it to 2021. I love. My plastic champagne flute arrived a little crushed, but the bath bomb cubes inside were fine. The little bombs were scented with fruit loops, sugar cookies, and cotton candy, and I decided to use all of them in one sweet-smelling bath. I like the small bursts of color these provided, but my heart still belongs to the bigger bath bombs that can turn my bathtub into a rainbow.

The Verdict: I enjoyed the mix of hair care products and bath products sent this month--how could I not when I share the same name as one of the products? I would like to see a little more variety in upcoming boxes (I love the bath frostings, but I can't go through an entire jar in one month), and I am excited to see what 2021 has in store for the brand. According to the listed values, the value of this box adds up to $47. If you sign up hoping for an amazing deal, you probably won’t be happy, but if you’re looking for well-curated bath and body products in unique scents, with creative packaging and a great mission, I think this is worth checking out.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No, but sign up today for the February box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.99 + $8.32 shipping ($43.31), which means each of the 4 items I received has an average cost of $10.83.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Good review Jessica. I have a question about the bath frosting. Do you use is with just your hands or put it on a washcloth or loofah?

Was actually hoping for a few more pics! What did the bath bomb things look like? What is the Jessica hair stuff? I felt like I needed to read a bit more here….

Thank you for the feedback, Snow. I’ll keep this in mind when the January box is delivered! For the haircare in this box, the Jessica conditioner is the green bottle. When I photographed these I thought the product listings had them separated out rather than listed as a duo, so when writing my review I listed the name of the duo as described on the product listing and then the individual product name. Hope that adds clarity!

I meant why is it named that? There must be some significance to it’s name?

I really thought there was a store that you could buy this stuff from if you liked it, is there not? I went looking but couldn’t find one.

As someone else mentioned, they have sales throughout the year. They are getting ready to have a Valentine’s Day sale that launches Feb 1, I think. If you join the AU Sugar Sugar Facebook group, you can find out the scent profiles and sneak peek at products. Right now, the website is close because there isn’t a sale. You can get the monthly box through a cratejoy site. I bought a ton of things in the fall sale because those are my fav scents all year long. The bath frosting is amazing. I always love their boxes. I skipped the one reviewed here because I have so much I need to use before I get anything else. I love this monthly box.

Ahhh thanks for the heads up on the facebook group! I didn’t even think of checking facebook, I was just looking for a website or something.

🙂

Teresa is incorrect. You cannot just buy these items off their website. They have sales, but you have to be on their Facebook page to be in the loop. They’re doing a valentine day sale starting February 1st and have listed the products and scents they are selling on their Facebook page.
Also, you can find their website with a quick google search. Au sugar sugar comes right up.

No, this is an Indie Brand, if you like something you can goto their website and buy the fullsize but it has to be shipped since there is no storefront. Usually these are super small businesses run by either a single person out of their homes or a few people that help as well. I am not sure which this is but Indie items are awesome if you are particular on scents, you can pick your own and have it custom mixed up for you!

Hi Mieke, I believe you order through their facebook group ausugarsugar. They will announce when items are restocked to order, and I think you can sign up for a custom order. I haven’t done so, but I still follow the page, and the owners seem really responsive so they can help you with any questions you have. Hope that helps

Mieke

Well yes it’s an indie brand but WHERE is their website, because all I can find is the sub box.

“Sexier Pillsbury doughboy” is the best thing I’ve read in a while!! Not gonna lie, I’m stealing that one. 🙂
