WompleBox November 2020 "Greece" Review

In our box, we received this great fold-out map with information about the country we are exploring on each panel. This month we are traveling to Greece and the various pages provided information about the culture. The focus for Greece was on the Olympic games, Greek art, and a recipe for some delicious Baklava!

Our map unfolded to show the country of Greece with some information about various gods at the top and bottom.

They provided these stickers for us to place on our map.

My son had fun matching each of the gods to the descriptions and sticking them on top of their pedestals.

Our collectible keychain this month was a fierce-looking minotaur.

My son thought this was pretty cool!

The chapter books that we receive each month are so great and full of colorful illustrations, photos, and this month, tons of information about Greece which is presented as a story. The text is full of various fonts and colors to highlight words of importance and they always throw in some words from the country's native language which is always fun. These books are a bit lengthy, but since they are divided into chapters, it's easy to break them down and my son really enjoys reading them. I love how they incorporate the culture throughout the story such as the foods they eat and various landmarks from the countries. This month there was a whole section in the back about the 12 labors of Heracles. Overall, very informative and interesting for sure!

He's always excited to check it out!

Activity 1: The Labyrinth

This month they had two separate activities for us to do. They included this instruction sheet with some fun facts for us. They also provided everything we needed to make our own labyrinth, which is perfect for our story this month!

They provided this foam board, a marble, and lots of little wooden pieces for us to build with.

My son started with the larger pieces on the outside and then he designed his own maze inside using the smaller pieces. This was super easy and pretty fun!

Then he had some fun testing it out and trying to get the marble from the starting point to the end point by moving it around.

Even baby brother had fun trying this out! I love that he can change it over and over again easily for more challenges!

Activity 2: Greek Mosaic

Since we learned about Greek art and also the mythical Pegasus, it's only right that our next activity would be to make our own mosaic pegasus artwork!

They provided this pegasus page with little squares that were numbered 1, 2, or 3. Then they included three different colored sheets of foam squares to add to the artwork.

This proved to be quite tedious, but I loved that it had him working on number recognition and some fine motor skills by peeling the paper off those tiny stickers!

It isn't quite finished yet, but it's coming together nicely!

The last item we received was a postcard which provided a sneak peek at the country we will be learning about next month. I think it's such a cute way to introduce the next country!

Verdict: My son thought that learning about Greece through this month's WompleBox was so fun. He always loves the books and the keychains and it is so fun when they turn the map and stickers into an actual activity for him to do. This month it was also fun to have two different activities related to our book and our country. The box is well organized and provides a great amount of educational material that is presented in a unique and engaging way! We are excited for next month's adventure!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
