Kids Favorites

Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries in a new category: KIDS subscription boxes! Here are our favorite children's books, kids clothing items, art projects, and more from the past month:

Haley's Favorite:

The Item: Rain! by Linda Ashman

The Cost: $7.99

From: Little Feminist Book Subscription

Why I love it: I love this book! First, the art is really sweet. Second, the wording is minimal and the whole story can be picked up just by looking at the illustrations which is excellent for my kids to “read” this on their own. Third, the story is precious and reminds me so much about how our moods and emotions can “set the tone” around us and the impact of pessimism.

Becca's Favorite:

The Item: The entire November Koala Crate

The Cost: $19.95

From: Koala Crate

Why I love it: This month's theme was "Pirate", and my boys were absolutely stoked to get to make their very own hat, create a parrot prop, and design their own sailboats. I don't think a day has gone by that I haven't had to "walk the plank!"

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: Spottington by Eeboo

The Cost: Retail Value $21.99

From: Sensory Theraplay

Why I love it: We already love the game Spot It! And this is similar but is more of a board game. You get six different colored Spottington tokens and 250 spottings cards. Each has a different image that you have to spot on the game board which is made up of six different hexagonal pieces. The pieces fit together and the roads match up no matter where you place them or which way you arrange them and since they are also double-sided, it makes the game different each time you play! This game is really fun, and I could see it being a great independent activity for honing visual perception skills. There are a lot of ways you could modify this game to suit the needs of your child, too!

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
