Lil' Grace Monthly DIY Box November 2020 Review

Lil' Grace is a newer addition to the Confetti Grace family and like I said last month, I am obsessed! Everything from the packaging to the supplies, to the finished projects, are top-notch and I absolutely love the November Lil' project!

In previous months, the instructions for the projects were adhered to the lid of the box, but this month, they were left loose in the box. The printout included photos of the finished product, but not necessarily detailed instructions. I like the fact that they gave you the big info while leaving the actual design up to you for customization.

Festive Mini Mason Jar Supplies

For our mini project this month we received two mini mason jars with enough embellishments to make two light-up winter wonderland scenes. This time I stuck close to the instructions and the kids absolutely loved helping with these!

Box of Goodies

Everything in this sub was packaged really well and was incredibly cute while also being functional. We received a small white cardboard box that held one of the mason jars, a bow, the trees, and the main figurines. When my 7-year-old caught a glimpse of the fawn, he immediately put his Legos away to join in the creating fun!

Bag of Embellishments

The next little goodie bag we received was sparkling with winter cheer! We received 4 sprigs of glittery evergreen, beads, tealights, Velcro, ribbon, a bell, and 2 reversible circles. I don't know what it is about little bags with random craft supplies, but I just love digging in and seeing all of the items!

Second Jar and Glue

Packaged in a layer of packing foam, we received our other mason jar alongside the gift box. Inside, we were given a jar of glue and a little paint sponge. I love how they utilized all of this month's supplies as packaging to eliminate all of the plastic bags I'm used to receiving. Not only is it less waste, but it looks cute too.

Card and Envelope

Confetti Grace suggests keeping one of these gifts for yourself, and giving one away, so along with the packaging supplies for one of our gifts, we also received a small card with a minimalistic design. Subtle and adorable – the perfect addition to the gift box!

Creating the Jars

Like I said above, our instructions were pretty loose, but did note the large steps. First, we went ahead and unscrewed the tealight. In the middle (to keep it turned off in transit) there was a paper tab that needed to be removed. Then we adhered the Velcro circles to the bottom of the tealight and the bottom side of the jar lid. Once the Velcro was placed, we flipped the jar lid over and glued the circle of paper onto the top for a decorative note. With the bag of beads, we had the option of adding them to our trees with the glue and sponge, but Hank decided to skip that step as he wanted a "natural" looking habitat for his fawn. Using a bit of glue, we adhered the tree, a sprig of evergreen, and the deer to the bottom of the jar. After we let it dry for about an hour, we divided up the snow and Hank added his half to the jar to create his winter wonderland. These steps were mostly the same with Charlie, except I had to help him quite a bit more (which is why the lack of photos of his) but he had a really good time creating it. The snowman combined with the tree made for a tight fit in the jar and didn't quite sit right, so I had to get out the hot glue gun to get it to stand appropriately.

Once the snow was added, we tied a bow out of the ribbon and added the bell to the jar as the finishing touch.

Didn't they turn out darling?! I love how easy it is to turn these tealights on and off and how simple yet cute this project turned out to be. Hank and Charlie headed these projects, but I was there to assist when needed.

And here is how the little mason jar fits in the gift box packaged up to give away. While neither of my boys want to give these as gifts, (and I can't say that I blame them because they are just so stinkin' cute) I would be more than happy to receive one of these little jars!

I love the little splash of light these jars offer in unexpected places and the fact that my kids and I were able to spend an afternoon together creating them! Because they are so cute, I think I may have to order another kit to give a couple of these away as actual gifts. What do you think of them?

Verdict:  Lil' Grace DIY Box is quickly becoming my favorite craft box of all time. The adorably simple crafts they offer are well thought out, high quality, and fun. These little jars are something I would definitely buy in a store, and being able to make something so pretty with my kids is amazing. Even though we won't be using the gift box to give one of these away, I already have a different gift packaged in it for my best friend, so everything is being used – exactly what I look for in a subscription box! I can't wait to see what's in store for next month!

Lil' Grace Monthly DIY Box costs $14.95 + $4.95 per monthly delivery, so each mason jar light averages out to about $9.95. I feel this was a great value as we also received a card, charm, and packaging supplies to give one as a gift. That coupled with the fact that we have glue, fake snow, and the paintbrush left over for other craft projects is a win for me!

How dang adorable!! I think I am going to take the tea light idea! I could by some magnet discs and put tea lights under a shelf then hang Garland in front of them. What a happy box .

Honestly, this was one of our favorite ones ever katie! My kids have been asking me constantly, if they have any sneak peeks of December’s box on their website!

Thanks for commenting Emma M! I’m glad you like this box as much as I do….did you see they have the spoiler for this month online? What do you think of it?

So cute!

I remember my mom had a little mason jar with a deer and tree in it that I made somewhere as a child, and she would put it out with the decorations every year. It looked just like this but without the light!

That’s such a special story Carol, thank you so much for sharing it! <3

Yours came out cute! For some reason, neither one of mine fit into their jars very well and just looked teeny and squished. They just didn’t come out very cute. I will keep them displayed this season, but they probably aren’t a craft I would give away or keep for future years. 😭 It makes me sad because usually I enjoy them! I don’t know what I did wrong this time!

Sorry to see you received your halloween project late. Because the projects are seasonal, we will be happy to refund you for that month. Packages normally arrive within 2-3 business days of shipping, though USPS has posted to expect delays. We also offer a full refund for unopened packages that are returned for any reason. A small batch of the little trees we received had “snow” bases in place of wooden bases. We didn’t realize the 1/2 inch size variance during boxing. This makes a big difference in these lil’ projects! We would be happy to mail you replacement trees if you contact us, or we can offer a few ideas to make your lids fit perfectly! We have had to rely on a few new suppliers, as several large distributors we use have closed doors due to covid. Please contact us and we’d be happy to help.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that Pamela! Did you contact customer service? Anytime I have ever had an issue, they have made it right immediately.

Pamela

It didn’t even enter my mind to contact customer service. But until now I didnt realize there were different size trees! Oh well. I’m not having the best luck with my smaller box (My October box didn’t come until after Halloween, making it useless because it was a Halloween craft) and I didn’t love this craft either. We will see how the next one goes!

Cas

Pamela, I had this same issue. The items would not all fit nicely and the trees were so big that the lids couldn’t be screwed on with the lights in place. I was really, really frustrated. I emailed them and they responded quickly. They were surprised that I was having difficulty but indicated that I may have received a different tree which was bigger. This was in fact the case. The trees pictured here are much smaller and more appropriate for the task then the ones I received and have a flat wooden base, while mine were tapered and plastic. Ultimately, I had to get wire cutters out and removed the entire base of the trees. I took off about a full inch. It was still a VERY tight squeeze, but after I did that I was able to get everything inside and the top in place. I probably should have trimmed the trees a little narrower, but at this point I was pretty fed up with taking everything out and trying to get it to fit in there again.

They are really cute, but it was such a headache to have received trees that did not fit. Maybe you received the same larger trees and could still salvage your project! You will definitely need wire cutters to do this though; regular scissors would not work. Good luck!

Pamela

Mine are tapered and plastic too! I just went back and looked at the pictures here and I definitely do not have the wooden base trees pictured in the review! Huh. Interesting that some of us would have got pieces too big for our jars!

Becca Peterson

Oh man! I’m sorry you had such trouble! I hope they make it right for you – that sounds terribly frustrating. I hope this coming month’s project will contain the correct supplies. Thanks for commenting Cas!

Kristin

Adorable!
