GlossyBox November 2020 Review

GlossyBox includes an info booklet that tells you about each included item, its value, and a tip on how to use it. I also have to give a shout out to this gloriously beautiful storybook-themed box!

LASPLASH Cosmetics Magic Palette - Retail Value $38.00

I actually wasn't expecting a whole lot out of this palette as many of the ones I have gotten from Glossy in the past have been a little lackluster. This one actually surprised me with how pigmented the matte shades were. They were actually pretty darn smooth as well! The shimmers were as I expected, but could have given a little more. I love gemstones so I was into the crystal theme of the whole palette and thought the shades were very wearable and flattering. I also loved how light the Selenite shade was because it can be hard to find that perfect sort of under the brow shade. All of these applied well with brush and fingertip.

Top to bottom: Selenite, Sunstone, Aragonite, and Tiger's Eye

Top to bottom: Rose Quartz, Citrine, Amber, and Onyx

Here is a quick look with Selenite, Sunstone, Rose Quartz, and Citrine.

Spectrum Collections Limited Edition B07 Brush - Listed Value $8.99

I own a lot of shadow brushes at this point and I am kind of picky. While this brush worked just fine (the look above was created with it) I did find the bristles were a little slick to grab as much powder as I wanted and the whole head had a spring to it that seemed to create more of a mess under my eye than many of my other brushes. Either way, it has a nice weight and is just fine.

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks - Estimated Value $4.17 (buy 6 pairs for $25.00)

Big fan of eye masks and since they show up in boxes so often, I rarely buy them myself. That is an arrangement I am happy with! I've tried these before and I like them for a few big reasons: they contain hyaluronic acid, peptides, and amino acids. They also stick to my face really well so none of that annoying slipping. The foiled front holds the serum and a little heat against my skin to make sure I have optimum absorption. These are a real treat any time of the day, but I like to spoil myself midday since I am at home anyway and I stare at a computer literally for what feels like a million hours a day. My eyes deserve gold.

Golden!

Mighty Patch Invisible, 6 patches - Estimated Value $6.50 (buy a 12 pack for $12.99)

2019 Megan didn't have breakouts. 2020 Megan has an extensive (and quite chic!) mask collection that she loves. Masks for me mean maskne, no matter what I do. My chin has been the major victim lately, though my entire jawline is at risk. I have been using clay masks more often recently, but sometimes you just want to slap on a magical zit sticker and go to bed. These little stickers are made of hydrocolloid which basically sucks zits dry of their bacteria and yuckiness. Leave one of these babies on a (clean) whitehead and sleep it off. Even if you are bad and decide to pop that sucker beforehand (I am not here to judge, and I am also guilty!) place this patch on after to help with the healing process and keep it away from more dirt and germs while your skin recovers.

These also arrived with a sample foil of the HERO Rescue Balm which is great for skin healing from acne. It helps calm upset skin and smoothes out rough texture with peptides, beta-glucans, and panthenol. It is a thicker white cream that actually feels GREAT on my skin and doesn't have much of a smell.

Doucce Ultra Precision Eyeliner in Black, 1.2 g - Retail Value $22.00

My final item was a brand new black eyeliner to add to my ridiculously comprehensive black eyeliner collection. This product also comes in a great bright blue, but, shockingly, we were sent black. It works fine! Nice deep black line, smooth. All that good stuff.

Verdict: This month's GlossyBox has a value of around $70.67 without the brush which is not bad for a $21 box. While I think the palette has a too high retail value, I do think it was a better palette than I expected. The brush was fine, and I enjoyed the Wander eye masks and the little zit stickers. I could muster zero excitement about the black eyeliner.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box will likely be the December box.

From GlossyBox

The month that you order in is the first month that you will receive. For example, if you subscribe any time between January 1-31, your recurring subscription will begin with the January Box. The only exception to this rule would be if the monthly box sold out before the end of the month. In its place, we will ship a special edition of the Classic Box, which is comprised of our top 5 items over the most recent months.

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, each of the 5 items in this box has an average cost of $4.20.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I received this box and the palette was smashed. I emailed Glossybox customer service but no resolution. I canceled my subscription. Other subscriptions have gotten right back to me and corrected the problem.

Mine was smashed also. I am cancelling after getting and disliking the Dec box. The boxes have been mostly bad.

They have horrible CS. A few years ago I bought a few limited edition boxes, when they had a sale. I had a problem with one of them and trying to get help was like pulling teeth! I never will sub to them after that fiasco.

I, too, received a smashed palette but didn’t contact them because I was sick of the poor customer service related to October’s box. Future not looking good for GlossyBox.

Those pimple stickers are a lifesaver for maskne! I work retail so I’m in a mask 7-8 hours a day, I put a sticker on where my mask always rubs and then anywhere I have a breakout and I let them do their thing under my mask while I’m at work! It’s a win-win, my skin is protected and healing and my mask doesn’t rub and make more maskne

I find for actual gunk-removal you have to pop it first, but for protection I put them over anywhere my face is upset

An addition: I use cheap hydrocolloid stickers (I got a ton from avarelle on sale) for protective/normal wear and then I use my samples of MightyPatch or other medicated ones on proper whiteheads

They do leave a bit of adhesive residue sometimes but it comes off with makeup remover and washing sticker residue off is much better than breakouts!

I believe the storybook theme box was October?!

Unless there is something I’m missing, but it looks like the regular old pink glossybox.

I too was surprised by the retail value of the palette, since LA Splash 10 pans go for around $28. But I just checked their website and this sold-out palette is listed at $38.
