Fortune Cookie Soap “The Show Must Go On” October 2020 Review

Here is the info sheet for this month's box.

Spectacular, Spectacular Hydrate Me, 3 oz - Estimated Value $11.99 (based on the same product in a different scent found here)

Hydrate Me is a solid thick body oil that is only sent during the winter months because in the summer, the stick will melt. The base of coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter is incredibly nourishing, and you apply it to wet skin at the end of your shower before you get out of the tub. This has a scent blend of citrus, pineapple, and honeydew melon, and it genuinely leaves me wondering why honeydew doesn’t make a more frequent appearance in fragrance - it’s lovely!

The Greatest Thing... Hair Oil

I love hair oils and use them on a regular basis, so this small sample is welcome and will be used up in a short amount of time. The smell of pomelo, raspberry, ocean breeze, sandalwood, and cedarwood isn’t too strong, so when I apply it to my curls my hair is left softly scented and just softer, in general.

We Should Be Lovers Twinkle Tonic Exfoliating Toner

Scented skincare products from FCS are really the only thing from the brand I don’t love, and that’s purely because I have sensitive skin that can be bothered by strong added fragrance – especially when it’s paired with exfoliants like glycolic acid and lactic acid as in this formula, along with the citrus extracts. What I usually end up doing with these formulas is use this on rougher areas of skin, like my legs or the backs of my arms, to soften them without worrying about it being too harsh. The smell of Asian pear and violet flowers is much more pleasant when I don’t have to worry about it irritating my face.

Come What May Laundry Detergent

This is the first time I’ve received a laundry detergent from FCS, and I’m pretty tickled by it. The scent is a mix of blackberries, papaya, and amber, and when I tested it out on a light load of clothes it left the fabrics clean and lightly scented without being overpowering.

The Verdict: This was another fun box from FCS. The laundry detergent was a new product for me (which is rare considering how long I’ve been reviewing this box), and all of the scent blends were very nice. I’ve been knocked for not recognizing box themes in the past, and I am about 90% sure that this is themed after The Greatest Showman and P.T. Barnum, but I’m thrown for a loop by the Elton John song lyric that’s in the description for the Twinkle Tonic. Am I right? Am I completely off base? Let me know in the comments what you think the theme is.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Loba

Moulin Rouge – We should be lovers sang by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. When I read the title I heard their singing in my head. 🙂

Loba

*sung…

Also as soon as I read Spectacular I thought of the actor who sings it in the movie whose name I can’t recall right now and I have to get back to distance learning…
