The Allure Limited Edition Fragrance Box Review

This handy booklet has all the product info inside.

Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight, 7 mL – Estimated Value $16.10 (buy a 50 mL bottle for $115.00)

Smells like: Sharp red berries made into a jam. A massive bouquet of flowers spilling onto a marble table.

I have been obsessed with the original Flowerbomb perfume for years now and if you love that scent, you will likely enjoy this one too, especially if you are a fan of fruitier scents. This perfume starts with a bold currant scent that is balanced out with an undercurrent of white musk and that familiar Flowerbomb explosion of florals. I will admit that I like the original better, but that is because I am not a huge fan of berries. This is still super sophisticated though and not overly sweet thanks to the edge of the very bold dark berries. Something about this does feel downright perfect for the holidays too!

Riddle Original Roll-On Fragrance Oil, 8 mL - Retail Value $50.00

Smells like: Fresh sheets, clean skin.

This is a really simple sort of scent making it perfect for someone who isn't exactly into perfume (this might be the wrong box for you...) or someone who likes to layer scents for a customized fragrance. To my nose, it smells like musky amber and not much else. Which isn't a bad thing! It also isn't strong enough on its own for me to justify wearing it as a perfume, but I do like a scent that has a presence. This scent is one of those that boast smelling different from person to person based on skin chemistry, but I actually think most perfumes are more like that than not. This is a great sort of base layer to add more depth to your favorite alcohol-based perfume and also give it extra longevity.

Lake & Skye 11 11 Body Oil, 10 mL - Retail Value $10.00

Smells like: White clouds, sweet amber, clean skin,

This oil actually reminded me quite a lot of the Riddle oil in terms of the scent, though this was a lot softer and creamier. Again, for me, this wasn't strong enough to wear as a solo scent, but if you like soft hints of fragrance, this is going to be ideal for you! Again, I would totally layer this with other perfumes I wear to make them softer and longer-lasting. I do love that this scent is in the form of a body oil so you can moisturize as well as scent your arms and legs.

Floral Street Perfume Set, 8 1.5 mL samples - Retail Value $19.00

Smells like: Pop art and street fashion. And a lot of fun!

I love, love, love a scent sampler! They are the absolute best way to figure out what type of scents you love and/or what specific scent you want to buy from a brand. Floral Street makes perfumes inspired by London fashion and flowers. I enjoy both of these things so I was so excited! There are 8 scents in this sampler and they are all so different! Here are my impressions of each:

  • London Poppy: Smells very citrusy, like Clinique Happy but better because it has such a genuine honeysuckle note! This takes me straight to childhood springtime in the sun.
  • Wonderland Peony: This is a sweet and girly scent that reminds me of a giant pink bouquet! There are also powdery notes here of violet and some sweet cream.
  • Neon Rose: I didn't love this one, mainly because I was expecting more of a true rose scent! This one is wildly different, with notes of flowers, fruits, and a little spice.
  • Wild Vanilla Orchid: This is a sexy, sexy scent! Think warm vanilla, jasmine, and woods. Loved it.
  • Iris Goddess: I really wanted to love this one because I love iris and powdery scents. But the iris paired with the red fruits just didn't work for my nose. Everything else here I adored! There is suede, pink pepper, and heady musk. It would be a perfect scent for me without those red berries.
  • Chypre Sublime: This might be the most elegant of this assortment. (Truthfully I thought this was what Neon Rose would smell like!) It has these amazingly true rose notes paired with incense, pepper, and violet. It is light but heady, and I feel really, really fancy when I wear it.
  • Black Lotus: This is another sex-kitten scent. If you don't like it at first, give it a minute or two to warm up. The strong leather note can smell a little weird and sharp at first. Leather lovers, this one is for you! That strong note is complemented with rose petals, violets, and pepper. It reminds me more than a little of the British version of MAC My Heroine.
  • Ylang-Ylang Espresso: Ok, this is by far the most unique scent in the batch. I have never smelled anything like it! As a person who loves off-the-wall scents, I am loving it. The first thing you notice is an explosion of coffee, which, admittedly, normally I am not into. But then there is this floral cloud of ylang-ylang that really shouldn't work with the coffee, but it does! There are also soft notes of rose, jasmine, and cream. This is not for the faint of heart!

Rebecca Minkoff Eau De Parfum, 4 mL - Estimated Value $3.80 (buy 100 mL for $95.00)

Smells like: Fresh summer air, tobacco, white flowers, and vanilla.

I loved this scent so much, but it is so fleeting. Ugh! If it lasted longer, this would be a full-size splurge for me for sure. It somehow manages to make tobacco very soft and feminine, and the whole scent is super smooth and polished. It has this extremely clean, fresh laundry quality that brightens a room, if only for about an hour.

Maya Base Perfume Oil Roller Ball, 5 mL - Estimated Value $36.00 (buy a full size 10 mL for $72.00)

Smells like: Sweet white musk and skin.

Our final item was another oil that, again, reminded me quite a lot of the others. It was subtle, sweet, and just a little floral. I feel like a broken record here, but this is a soft scent that might not be enough for me alone personally, but I loved it layered with other scents (try this with that incredible Chypre Sublime from the sampler!).

Verdict: This Allure Limited Edition Fragrance Box was a dream! I love perfume and I am always so excited to get my hands on a scent box. There was a lot of winning happening in here. From the full-size Elie Tahari scent to the Floral Street sampler, and beyond! This is exactly the sort of box that makes picking fragrances easy and fun, especially in these times when most testers in stores are off-limits. The scent options were all well rounded and there was a wide range of creative and beautiful blends to pick and choose from. And the value? FANTASTIC! There was over $200 worth of fragrance in this box (I landed at $202.90 though Allure says $215!) making it a great value at the $50 non-member price and absolutely insane for the $30 member cost. If you are a perfume lover, I highly recommend this one!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Megan’s review was excellent and accurate. It is well worth the price for subscribers but I think even non-subscribers will be happy they selected it, if it is still available. I call it my pandemic recovery package, with scents to perk me up. When I am at home, there is no one to complain about allergies, so I can experiment with the various fragrances. Then back in the office there are the background scents such as the riddle and lake and skye fragrances. Subtle and clean and suitable for every day. Tahari is also a good office fragrance, not cloying and in your face. I find the Floral Street fragrances fun to try, but most are too strong for office youth. Love the Victor & Rolf flower bomb variation- again not for office. The Maya fragrance is meant to be layered with other frangrance. I find that it adds complexity and richness to the other fragrances, especially with the Victor and Rolf. Fun to experiment with the plain fragrance on one wrist and the layered fragrance on the other wrist. Rebecca Minkoff is fine but not the memorable on me. Of course every fragrance smells different on different people. This is truly a mood lifting box!

Was never really a perfume person but loving this box. The full size Elle Tahari fragrance is excellent. It helps to wake me up in the morning with the peppery scent. And the Maya fragrance is my favorite. Love every single thing in there. Excellent value.

I’m a little late to the game, but I just received this box (2/21) and I’m so pleased with it! I love all the scents; there’s seriously not one I dislike. Definitely worth the $30. I went from no perfume to a nice little collection with scents for all seasons and times of day. Very glad I purchased.

What a waste of time and money. It took six weeks to receive this order. Each fragrance loses its scent ten minutes after application. Good thing the box arrived after Christmas too late to give my granddaughter as it have been extremely embarrassing to give such a disappointing gift.

I agree 100% . I do not understand the stellar reviews . The full size perfume is undetectable after a few minutes. The review says 6 hours lol. After few minutes I have to press my nose on my wrist to smell it. It was a cheap box but still a waste of money

Finally got mine (12/15) and love love love it! I absolutely adore every fragrance in the sampler and love the variety of it. The sampler is my favorite thing in the box. Also really really love the Minkoff!!! The 3 subtle ones are fairly interchangeable but useful. Love the Tahari. Like the flower bomb.

I planned on giving several to my sons’ GFs for Xmas but the only one I’m willing to part with is the flower bomb. Lol.

I ordered my box on 11/21, and received it today. I never got any kind of shipping notice or tracking, it just showed up. I’m so glad I bought! I love every scent so far, which is crazy! The only ones I haven’t smelled yet are the Floral Street. I thought I’d hate the Tahari for some odd reason, but I find it very pretty and wearable. The oils (Maya, Riddle & Lake) are all similar to me, but that’s fine, since they smell good. I’m a perfume hound, always looking for more. What a great deal this was!

I got mine today! Ooh I stink to high heaven right now 😂

I received the fragrance box on December 2, no tracking or shipment information was sent to me beforehand. Two perfumes were not included in my box: Rebecca Minkoff and Viktor & Rolf. I contacted customer service few times and was told each time that a manager would be in touch. So far, no callback. Did anyone experience the same issue with this box? Thanks

I am so glad I got this. I had never smelled any other than the lake and sky which I don’t like but got it for the Elie Tahari and I love it. I can’t stop sniffing my arm.

Ordered this on 11/17 and it arrived yesterday, no tracking information was ever sent so I was surprised to see it waiting for me. So far I really like Flowerbomb Midnight and excited to try the others. I bought 2 and I can see right now, I’m gonna have a hard time parting with the 2nd one lol

That Floral Street sampler set sure sounds interesting!

I’ll see if I can maybe swap for it.

Highly recommend! It is incredibly well-rounded for a sampler.

I so want to get this kit! If only it wasn’t 2020 and my life in shambles. I canceled Allure back in August, and just can’t swing the non-sub price. It looks so good though! I love the Floral Street Electric Rhubarb and would love to explore the brand more.

I ordered this immediately when I saw it in my inbox. I love fragrances – tho I do have to be careful because I am a lifelong migraineur and scents definitely can set me off. Even scents I like the smell of sometimes. 😠 I can’t wait for it to arrive!
I really like your fragrance review style, it speaks to me. I’m not sure if smell-situation is an actual type of synesthesia, but if it is, there we be. I once described Hello by Harvey Prince as “warm, like when you’ve forgotten your jacket on a chilly day and your friend opens up their coat, wraps you in it, tucks you up against their body.”

Megan K.

Thanks so much, Lux! I love fragrances too and describing them is really fun! Scent is such a personal thing that I try to tie them to memory if I can. One of my favorite perfume brands (D.S. and Durga) refers to perfume as “armchair travel” and I think that is so accurate! Glad there is someone else out there like me when it comes to scent descriptions. 🙂

I took the holiday three month, so I’m going to indulge myself with this.

I would totally have jumped on this if I was subbed to Allure. Hopefully, it’ll be a free gift with a prepaid sub or something, lol.
