October 2020 Petit Vour Review

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included, and the prices of the full-size versions.

Let's dive in!

Grace & Stella Fragrance-Free Foaming Face Wash, 5 fl oz - Retail Value $20.00

This is a full-size bottle of foaming cleanser. It is fragrance-free but you can kind of catch the scent of the rose water inside! As far as performance, this stuff works fine. It does a good job of getting makeup off without over-drying your face. It also leaves behind some moisture because it has aloe and hyaluronic acid inside. Though there are more exciting cleansers out there, this one gets the job done. And that's really all I can ask!

Foamy.

French Girl Néroli Eye Serum, size unknown - Listed Value $16.00 (buy a full size 9 mL for $40.00)

I really love the French Girl brand. It is something about the chic and clean packaging and the great ingredients that really inspired a lot of love from me. This little rollerball has a golden serum inside that is full of some of my favorite nourishing oils: argan, jojoba, camellia, chia, carrot, and even more! Heads up that this is a little essential oil heavy, so if you avoid EOs, maybe proceed with caution here. I happen to love this formula and so does my skin. I could see this feeling a wee bit heavy for some folks out there, and if you fall into that category, try this trick! Pick out your face sheet mask and apply a healthy amount of this oil under your eyes before applying it. Then use your sheet mask as usual. It is going to let these oils absorb without feeling super heavy!

Pacifica Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream, 29 mL - Estimated Value $9.28 (buy 50 mL for $16.00)

This was a big no for me. And this stems from the super-strong tropical coconut scent. I don't like this scent at all, much less on my face. I have a love-hate relationship with Pacifica for this reason rather often. Their formulas are often great but I find their scents polarizing. I also think a few ingredients inside this formula might not be great for congestion-prone skin. Of course, you know your skin better than I do! This might be something you end up loving. But for me, it was a bust.

Ellovi Tinted Rose Lip Butter - Retail Value $6.00

I was really excited about this lip butter... until I smelled it. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but something smells really wrong here. It has a somewhat tart and overly ripe smell that I can't imagine is purposeful. Bummer. I think I would have liked this a lot based on the swatch below:

Verdict: This month's Petit Vour box has a value of around $51.28. I didn't love this month, though. Really, the only high point was that lovely French Girl eye serum. The Grace & Stella facewash was nice too (and full-size!) but these first two items just didn't make up for the super tropical cream and the lip butter, which I found to be unusable. A dud of a box is very rare for this subscription, so I am just going to hope for a better November selection.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first box will likely be the November box. I recommend reaching out to Petit Vour to confirm! This box also has variants based on your beauty profile, so yours might be totally different than mine!

Value Breakdown: At $18 for this box, here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Foaming Wash $7.02
  • Eye Serum $5.62
  • Rehab Cream $3.26
  • Lip Butter $2.11

Alternatively, each of the 4 items has an average cost of $4.50.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m a huge proponent of putting oil on my face before a sheet mask. This is a great tip!

I’m surprised to see openly private-labeled company Grace & Stella in this sub.

I had the same experience with the lip balm! It smelled like legit cheese!!! Not something I want in a lip balm. I threw it out which is a shame because I NEVER not use an item I get from my subs.

I got the Pacifica in my Nov box and haven’t used it yet, I’m pretty acne prone so I’ll need to approach with caution.
