Lip Monthly October 2020 Review

Just a quick note: It seems that some readers have had issues with the September box. I did not receive anything in September, and hopefully, they have worked out whatever was happening then, but as always, I encourage you to read the comments on past reviews to get a more well-rounded perspective on this sub. <3

Inside our box was a card highlighting the brands we received this month.

Lip Monthly sends its products in a little makeup bag that holds all of your lippies. This bag is a bit bigger than the usual ones and I love the fun pattern.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Lip Balm in Strawberry -  Retail Value $10.00

I've tried things from this brand before and I actually really enjoy their products. This lip balm is a delicious strawberry scent and it felt hydrating for my lips which are starting to dry out now that we have the heat running at home! I love that this is 100% natural, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and made with essential oils and natural flavors making it free from parabens and phthalates. It's also a U.S.-made product!

Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme  in Hothead - Retail Value $20.00

What a color! There is so much pigment in this gloss and I love the color a lot, especially since the name kind of suits my personality on occasion. Since it was so pigmented, I did feel like I had to paint it on slowly and carefully because one wrong move would have been hard to fix. It dried down to more of a matte finish and while I thought the color was fun and it was pretty long-lasting (although I didn't like the way it wore down since it lingered on the edges), it had a weird sticky finish to it that I really disliked. I was surprised at this and while it didn't bother me too much after wearing it for a while, it was very noticeable at first.

Here it is on. My 4-year-old came in and said "Mommy, why do your lips look different?" so I think it's a pretty stand-out color!

Doucce Lip Definer Pencil in Estella - Retail Value $20.00

I was a bit indifferent to this lipliner at first, Doucce is a brand I can take or leave and this looked like straight-up brown when I swatched it, but the color on my lips really surprised me. It was a very natural color that added just the right amount of pigment to my lips for a natural look. I lined the outside of them and applied some lip balm and it was just right. I can see keeping this one in my purse because it's a great any time color and will go well with my chapstick that I tend to reach for more often this time of year! It will be a bit more forgiving on cracked lips than other lip colors I own.

Here it is as a liner with some lip balm over it.

#Give Them Lala Cream Liquid Lipstick in Seduction - Retail Value $16.00

How gorgeous is this packaging? I just love this smoky tube and the beautiful color inside is a fun shade for fall. This one was silky and smooth when I applied it and it was a bright matte shade at first that then seemed to blend into my lips for a more subtle look. It looks like this is a brand new product (or brand) as it's only available for pre-order right now. It does actually feel pretty hydrating for a lipstick and I think this is a fun shade to have in my lip arsenal!

It's not a very natural-looking color, which is what I usually opt for, but I really like it!

Here it is after it absorbed a bit on my lips. It's a bit more subtle!

Swatched from top to bottom we have the Doucce liner, the #Give them Lala lipstick and the Bellapierre Lip Creme.

Verdict: I really enjoyed the range of colors in this month's Lip Monthly bag and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the Doucce liner. The only one that is a miss for me is the Bellapierre, while the color was so fun and bold, I don't think I can handle that stickiness and how difficult it was to remove. This bag usually gets 3/4 right for me, so this is pretty on par and it's still worth it value-wise since it averages to about $3.24 per lippie at $12.95/month for this subscription. The total retail value this month was $66 which is pretty good!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

It’s one of the worst subscriptions I’ve ordered.
Every bag contains RED lipgloss, no plums, browns/neutral colors just red.
The questionnaire doesn’t change anything….you get red.
Twice my pallets were smashed to bits and they replaced them with RED lipgloss lol.
Save your $5 and buy a cheap lipgloss.

Lip Monthly has got to be the worst company known to man. I have been waiting for 3 months of bags since December along with a Bundle I ordered that I have not received. I also get billed for 2 subscriptions. They say they are working on it but nothing happens. I contacted the BBB and guess what the BBB contact get a hold of them because they say the address is no longer current and their phone has been disconnected. DO NOT order anything from Lip Monthly is now a scam and you will not receive any products

That Bellapierre shade looks pretty stunning on you! Too bad the formula isn’t good.

Give Them Lala is yet another of the DLS/Faccia/Luna/etc etc etc brands. I would not put it on my face, nor would I pass it on to anyone I like.

Ahh thanks for the info on that brand, Marion! I always appreciate the heads up. I haven’t heard of them before! It’s a shame that’s the case! 🙁
