Laurel & Reed October 2020 Review

As always, the packaging and presentation are beautiful!

The first card is just a general L&R info card while the second has specific info about the items and brands included inside.

Strange Bird Beauty Inner Clarity Cleanser, 4 oz - Retail Value $58.00

So this is a cleanser in name, but if you love a multi-tasking product this formula can also double as an exfoliant and a mask! Because my skin is on the drier side, I decided to use it mostly as a traditional cleanser. It is delightfully scrubby in a gentle way and massaging it into my face for 30 or so seconds in small circles feels great! It has clay that helps draw out impurities in my pores paired with nourishing oils of sweet almond and jojoba. There are also loads of antioxidants inside from green tea, ginseng, and vitamin E. I liked how easily this scrubby cleanser broke down the makeup on my face and left my skin feeling smoother and very soft.

LOLI Beauty Plum Elixir, 0.95 fl oz - Retail Value $68.00

If you read my reviews regularly, you already know I am a facial oil enthusiast. When you have dry skin like I do, you go through a lot of oil! I get why some folks aren't as into these little skin treats. If you aren't used to the texture or you already have oily skin, it can feel counterintuitive to use an oil. But I really recommend trying one! If you want to try out an oil but maybe have a lighter experience, try this: massage a few drops into your skin. Really take your time here and don't worry about the oil absorbing or not. Then run a towel under hot water, wring it out, then apply on top of your face and relax! This is going to absorb any of the excess oil while still giving you the benefits of the oil from your massage. It also feels incredible!

Anyways, the ingredients inside this pretty little bottle are simple and straightforward. It is a blend of plum seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, camellia oil, and sea buckthorn oil. Together they deliver a large dose of hydration, vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, and omega-rich fatty acids. Basically, this is a dry skin dream. I like using this right before bed to wake up with a nice glow and optimum level of skin hydration.

Lather Honey Moisture Mask with Propolis Extract, 4 oz - Retail Value $27.00

This mask smells exactly like honey! The texture is thick and creamy, though it does absorb relatively easily. I don't know that this was my favorite formula because the scent was so strong that mentally it made me feel like I was applying a body lotion to my face. I was also less keen on a couple of alcohols being pretty high up on the ingredient list. This cream does have a lot of goodness going for it though, namely olive oil, honey extract, aloe, and vitamins C and E. The best way I found to use this was like an overnight mask. Apply a healthy dose to your skin, massage, and sleep! If you are a honey fan, I think you are going to love this.

The Verdict: This Laurel & Reed delivery has a value of $153 which is nearly $100 more than the box cost. That is a nice bit of savings! The LOLI oil was the highlight of this box for me. I just love this brand and I love oils. Win-win! I also enjoyed the gritty cleanser. I was less crazy about the honey mask, but it was the least expensive part of the box and even though it wasn't a fave, it was still a nice addition.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Great oil/hot towel tip! Sounds absolutely amazing and I’m with you in loving oils. My skin isn’t as dry, but a spring chicken I’m not so oils are absolutely fantastic for nourishing the skin. I love your enthusiasm for skincare!
