Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries in a new category: KIDS subscription boxes! Here are our favorite children's books, kids clothing items, art projects, and more from the past month:
Becca's Favorite:
The Item: Interior Designer Kit
The Cost: $39.95
From: Oyster Kit
Why I love it: The fact that Oyster Kit has given my children and I a taste of more than a dozen career opportunities puts it at the top of my list in the first place, but because they featured Interior Design this month, I couldn't resist choosing it as my favorite. While the number of physical items included was a little less than I was hoping for, the fact that they included multiple sticker options to create our own room was so nostalgic for me! As a child, I used to take a cardboard box and clip out furniture and décor from the JCPenney catalog and "design" my own room. Getting to do that in a bit more of a sophisticated way was a blast with my kids, and their "doodle pillow" was also a huge hit.

The Item: Cannonball by Sacha Cotter
The Cost: $17.99
From: Little Feminist Book Club
Why I love it: In the book, our main character struggles to do a cannonball, everyone keeps trying to tell him how to do it, they laugh when he can't do it, and they yell for him to get out of the way if he's taking too long. The boy found the courage within himself, though, and discovered that all he needed was to do it his way! He tackled completing that cannonball with his own flair and with his own chant that he whispered to himself.
My son really connected with this book! This past summer he basically taught himself how to swim, saying no to his back float, and just going all-in with swimming. By the end of the summer, he was jumping in, going under, treading water all on his own. His big hurdle though was that he desperately wanted to go off the diving board. He tried so many times, but he just never got the courage to do it. We kept saying not to worry that next summer would be his year (he is 4 so he has lots of time). I think this book brought up a lot of emotions for him though because he has not stopped asking when he can go off of the diving board, and why the character struggled so much doing a cannonball. The book also made him a little sad, which if I am being honest, it made me sad too as I held back tears reading this to him. Not a bad thing, great writing should bring all emotions out. Who can't relate to this story? We all have those obstacles or those moments where we feel all eyes on us, where we just aren't good enough, but if we just find that inner strength we can do anything.

Christen's Favorite:
The Item: Beb Organics Vital Touch Sample Set
The Cost: $18
From: Moms + Babes
Why I love it: I normally prefer receiving full-size products over samples in subscriptions, but I quickly realized these samples would be great to toss in my toiletry bag. They're gentle enough for a newborn, but perfect for my toddler, and they smell *chef's kiss* so very wonderful. Each is cruelty-free and vegan, non-GMO, made in the USA, and hypoallergenic.

Brandi's Favorite:
The Item: Exclusive JoJo Siwa Toothbrush Holder
The Cost: n/a
From: JoJo Siwa
Why I love it: When I pick my favorites each month, I try to think of not only what stands out, but of what we use the most and this toothbrush holder is something my daughter loves and uses every day. She has it stuck on our bathroom mirror just out of her younger brothers’ reach and she makes sure she always puts her toothbrush back in its place. The suction cup on the back has held up to us opening the bathroom vanity several times and hasn’t fallen down. It’s not the most exciting item we’ve ever received, but it’s cute and it’s useful and my daughter loves the pink color with the fun JoJo sticker on it. I love that it has drain holes so that it stays clean!

Abby's Favorite:
The Item: Vild Green Jungle Body Suit, 12-18 months
The Cost: Retail Value $34, Dopple Price $31
From: Dopple Children's Clothing
Why I love it: I can't get enough of this bodysuit. Ronan looks so bright and cheerful in it, and it really accentuates his blue/green eyes. The soft bamboo fabric is cozy, yet breathable, for this crazy fall weather. Ro's room has a rainforest theme, so he totally just blends right in now.
