Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box Review

Ready for another month of oils?

The first items I grabbed from the package were two cards: one with a note from Katie (the curator and aromatherapist behind this box!) and the other with all the info on the oils included in this month's box. The card also let me know that 13% of my purchase cost was donated to Sojourn House, a sober living facility that helps women through the trauma of addiction, abuse, and exploitation. It makes me feel extra excited to support companies that give back and deliver awesome boxes.

Also included were six recipe cards and coordinating stickers to use on all my handmade items!

Now, for the oils I received this month:

Blood Orange Essential Oil, 55 mL – Retail Value $9.99

From Simply Earth:

Perfect for calming down any nervous apprehensions, the flowers of the Blood Orange are commonly used in bridal bouquets and wreaths to avoid those pre-wedding jitters.

This oil smells very close to sweet orange oil but has a little bit more sweetness. I love using any and all orange oils, so this was a great addition to the box in my book. I like to add orange oils to soaps and vinegar sprays I use around the house.

Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil, 15 mL – Retail Value $7.99

From Simply Earth:

Lemon Eucalyptus, popular because of its bug and insect repelling properties, is also great at deodorizing spaces while at the same time supporting a healthy respiratory system and providing calm in any environment.

This smells just like citronella, which reminds me of warm picnics outside but might be less useful for me during the cold months. I will keep this on hand for fall hikes, though, because it repels bugs!

Clove Essential Oil, 15 mL – Retail Value $10.99

From Simply Earth:

Used mainly as a spice, ancient cultures used Clove to treat a variety of ailments. Chinese medicine used Clove to combat bad breath, hernias, and bronchitis; others used it to relieve toothaches, aid digestion, alleviate childbirth pain, and eliminate intestinal parasites and athlete’s foot.

Clove is one of those scents that reminds me so much of the holidays. Especially when combined with orange and rosemary oils! It is one of those unforgettable, rich scents with a spicy warm vibe.

Defender Essential Oil Blend, 15 mL – Retail Value $14.99

From Simply Earth:

Simply Earth's Defender Essential Oil Blend is perfect for making DIY home cleaners that can sanitize and help you fight against nasty germs. Don't have time to clean? Diffuse this blend to give your body the extra boost it needs! Defender will soon become your new best friend!

This blend also had a holiday sort of scent, combining cinnamon, rosemary, lemon, eucalyptus, and clove. I can totally see myself diffusing this one during the winter to make the house smell festive and keep germs at bay.

Mini Wool Balls and Bag

These little wool balls, which are used for diffusing the scent of the oil, are very cute, but I wish there were more of them and that they were larger. They arrived in a little drawstring bag.

Spray Bottle

Mist nozzle bottles like this are perfect for creating your current favorite blend and keeping it handy! I usually have a mix of lavender and sweet orange as a linen spray, but I think I might go more festive this month and try out some clove!

I decided to try out the very cute and super easy Mini Car Diffuser recipe. I am only in my car about once a week right now so I decided to grab one of my favorite little bowls and make a desk diffuser instead. I substituted Clove oil for the Lemon Eucalyptus oil.

For someone whose desk is usually a chaotic disaster area, this felt ball version of a diffuser makes much more sense than me trying to keep a liquid diffuser on my desk that I would certainly knock over. It provides such a nice aromatherapy experience with no risk of mess!

Verdict: Simply Earth really felt like a fall box this month. I loved the combo of orange and clove! The Defender blend was also delightful. I was less of a fan of the lemon Eucalyptus in terms of using it inside my house, but it will come in handy on those fall hikes! Though I felt there could have easily been more supplies this month, the very adorable and incredibly easy wool ball diffuser I created for my desk is really enhancing my WFH laptop vibes.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No—if you subscribe today, you'll receive the October box as your first as well as the big bonus box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $39.00 (with free shipping) so each of the six items in the monthly box has an average cost of $6.50. (I calculated the felt balls and the bag as a single item, though the recipes included do mention it can be used solo, too.)
