Ellie Women's Fitness Clothing "Solar Flare" September 2020 Review

At the beginning of each month, Ellie releases new collections. You can choose which one you want or skip that month if you don't want any of them and you won't be charged.

This shiny envelope held our invoice and some samples.

Nuun Sport Tablets - Buy a 10 Serving tube for $7.00

I received three Nuun Sport samples which are these fizzy tabs you pop in your water for some added hydration before, during, or after a workout. I'm looking forward to trying these!

Georgia Pullover by Marika, Size L – Retail Value $60 (on sale for $19.99)

This month I chose the Solar Flare collection based on this super cozy-looking pullover. The color is described as "heather wild plum" and it's so pretty and just as soft as I had hoped. It has just the right amount of stretch to it and the open crisscross detail at the back is a fun detail that also gets a little bit of airflow going for you. This will be great to wear over a tank when I'm warming up or if I decide to head outside for a workout this fall. I also think I could get away with wearing this over some regular leggings for an everyday look, too!

Sparks Ankle Legging by Marika, Size L – Retail Value $58 (on sale for $22)

These leggings are actually butter-soft and have a good amount of stretch to them while those shiny rose gold sparks at the bottom add some flair. Even though I could probably comfortably size up (Quarantine hips! What's the statute of limitations on this excuse, btw?) since they were a bit tight on my hips, I wore these for a good part of the day comfortably without them riding down or feeling too tight. I really love these and can see myself reaching for these often! As for the foil accents, they seem like part of the fabric and don't seem as though they will rub off, although I may just hang these to dry instead of throwing them in the dryer.

Ivy Sports Bra by Marika, Size L

While normally I would shy away from taking a photo in a sports bra, this longer style combined with the high waist of the leggings proved to be a bit more modest than I expected; in a good way! I love that this bra has the fun shiny sparks detail on it and it is just as soft as the pants. I actually put this on directly after a shower and it went on smoothly, which if you've ever done that before, you know it can get tricky depending on the bra! This one is really comfortable and has some nice mesh details that I think will add to the comfort. The front panel is loose and lifts up to reveal a more fitted section that has removable inserts. While I appreciate the padding inside, they did come all bunched up, which is a huge pet peeve. Luckily, once I sorted them out they stayed in place!

Verdict: I really loved my Ellie selection this month and apparently so did everyone else since it is now sold out! The material was soft, stretchy and so comfortable. I also think that I can wear the sweatshirt any time since it's very simple and doesn't scream workout gear. This subscription is such fun since you get to pick exactly what you want and there's always a nice variety. The retail value of the athletic leggings and sweatshirt alone comes to $118 ($41.99 with sale prices) and that doesn't even include the great sports bra, so I am really happy with the quality of the styles I received this month for $44.95!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll be selecting from the current month's selections, which may include this collection. Check out our latest spoilers here! If you are a subscriber, you can pick up past collections (if they are available) in the shop.

Value Breakdown: The three-item box costs $44.95. That means that the average cost per item is $14.98.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Glad to see this reviewed! I had been debating on subscribing for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger thanks to this review. I figure I’m spending more and more time in yoga pants, so might as well get some comfy clothes that also look great. 🙂

Yay for Ellie reviews! Am I the only person who just gets these outfits to wear around the house so I don’t have to wear jeans? 😅 Not completely true, I do walk around the neighborhood twice a day in them. It’s given me a great working from home outfit selection. I got the Heart Felt last month & the color is beautiful. I also think I’ll be able to wear the tank with some Fall cardigans. The bra from that one seemed so promising but it fits weird. It’s always twisted or bunched up at the shoulder & I feel like my boobs bend over the band in a weird way. This month I got the Full Bloom collection & the colors are so bright but dark & perfect for Fall. I just got it in today so I haven’t worn it yet, but it’s all very soft. Not a fan of the shirt bra style but maybe I’ll like it when I wear it. I really have way too many bras & leggings from Ellie so I’m glad they have been offering more lounge style outfits & I would really like to continue seeing more (pants/shirt/jacket).

Yes lol I pick the outfit based on what I think if comfortable and would be the cutest if I go to the grocery store or a walk around the neighborhood. I got the black and silver version of the outfit reviewed and love it. I love that their sport bras are a mix of cottony ones and th more lycra/ spandex ones. I have a pool and the lycra ones work great in the pool at bikini tops.

I have a really cute strappy one I use for a swimsuit top! They hold stuff in better 🙂

Lisa

Girl, I wear these outfits to run all my errands too! I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to jeans!

Another Ashley

Thank you for finally reviewing this box and showing everything in so much detail + modeling it!!!! I needed examples before subscribing, so I finally chose my first outfit today! I sized up on size because I like things a little less tight on me. I hope I chose the right size, that’s my only concern.

Yay! Hope you love your outfit and that it’s a good fit! If it’s not, they do offer free returns and I’ve always had a good experience with customer service in the past, so hopefully they’ll be able to help you! 🙂

I got full bloom outfit this month and I absolutely love it. I have sub to Fabletic too, but find their leggings too thick for CA weather. Ellies clothes are so comfortable and good quality, I wear it non stop.

Jodi

Such a cute set! I’m confused by that last picture of the bra top though. Are there two elastic bands inside under the bust? And then the third layer is the outside/main part of the bra?

Reply ButtonReply

Brandi D.

Hi Jodi, I probably should have put my hand inside to show it better, but that’s the front and back of the band! So underneath there is a band that is fitted and then the top layer is looser! Hope that makes sense! 🙂

Jodi

Ohh I see it now! Thanks 🙂

Robyn

This was the set I got and I love it! I really love Ellie, probably my favorite subscription ever. I hope you guys do more Ellie reviews!

I love Ellie, but I have skipped the last couple months. This outfit was on my wish list. They sometimes bring back collections, so hopefully this one will make a return.

Maybe in the future ill try a workout outfit box like this one.

I usually just wear my sports bra and underwear along with shoes when I use my treadmill at home. After 45-55 mins on that thing I’m covered in sweat and my clothes are just soaked.

I bike ride a lot outdoors about an hour or so at a time, but I wear normal clothes. I lost a lot of weight and things have gotten too big. Haven’t went shopping yet for new clothes.

I’m not 100% at my goal weight which is set at like 125 lbs. I was 220 lbs and now I’m like around 140. In the past I was 110, so I know I can make it. I gained weight being an alcoholic, I’m 20 months sober. But not wanting to buy clothes just yet because I don’t want them to get too big if I drop more weight.

Looking at these boxes. They will be fun for the near future 😍

The bra and leggings combo looks really cute! Thanks for mentioning the foil accent and if it seems like it’ll come off too—I appreciate the detail
