The Box By Fashionsta for Men is a monthly men's box brought to you by online beauty store, Fashionsta, for $29.99/month with free shipping. Each box will include 5-7 full-size skincare and other self-care products for men with an $80-$150 value. They seem to focus on smaller indie brands that may be new to you, so it's a great way to discover companies that haven't blown up in popularity yet. Fashionsta also offers The Box For Women ($24.99/month) as well as a mystery box that costs $40 as an add-on with a subscription or $50 as a one-time purchase.

The Box By Fashionsta for Men August 2020 Review

The Box By Fashionsta for Men comes with a simple info card that gives a short description of each included product. I am writing this review based on my husband's testimonial for each item! He is always down to try new products if I give them to him, so this was a fun and new journey for him into the subscription box world!

After Sun Sport Mask by 2 Much Sun - Listed Value $20.00

We have been spending a lot of time outside and at the pool this summer so this was the perfect mask to receive! My husband does a great job of applying his sunscreen when we are out, but by this time of the year, his skin needs a little TLC. This mask is made with algae and seaweed to help hydrate, soothe, and protect your skin. The mask was super easy to unfold and place on his face, it fits really well (even over his medium-sized beard) since it is a bit bigger in size than the masks that I receive. He said that the mask gave his skin an instant cooling feeling, which would be great after a long day outside or even if you get a little burnt. He was able to rub lots of excess serum into his neck and all over his face once he removed the mask to let his skin really drink-in all of the healing minerals from the serum. He did the mask at night before bed and got up the next morning glowing! He might be sold on using a mask once a week with me now! I was sort of surprised by the price on this one, most masks that I have seen tend to be less expensive, but it did work really well on his skin.

Foldable Fanny Pack by Bennkai - Retail Value $24.00

My husband loves fanny packs! He bought one a few years ago to use when we went to the beach, and he has since bought two more because he really enjoys using them. Now he has this awesome style to add to his collection! I know they are more trendy now, but they really are very functional. Especially for us since we have two young kids. This pack is foldable in its own case so you can easily store this in your car in case you need it in a pinch, but it also is just great for storing. My husband has already used this to go to the park with our kids, to head to the grocery store, and when we went to the zoo! It allows you to keep everything you need hands free, plus he can easily toss some snacks in there for the kids without having to take our big diaper bag.

Daily Face Wash by HommeFace, 4.22 fl oz. - Retail Value $14.00

I am always so excited when my husband receives a new face wash mainly because that means he will stop sharing mine with me, hahaha (small joke, I love to share). The best part is that he is really loving this wash! This wash is alcohol-free, paraben-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. It is gentle on your skin, making it great for all skin types while giving your skin a deep clean to remove oil and impurities. It also smells amazing with tea tree leaf extract and witch hazel! This wash also works to reduce the signs of aging, moisturize, reduce acne, and control excess oil. My husband loved how light it felt when washing, while still leaving him with a super soft cleaning feeling. I can already tell a difference in his skin after using this, he looks smoother and fresher!

SPF 50 Sport Performance Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Spray by MANLY, 5 oz. - Retail Value $12.99

We just ran out of our spray sunscreen when this little guy arrived! I have to say, we are both in love with this sunscreen! It smells great, and I love that it is a 50 SPF! This spray has UVA/UVB broad-spectrum protection, a no-rub, no-run application so you just spray and it dries clear and quickly, breathable, lightweight, oxybenzone free (reef-friendly for anyone using it before going into the ocean), and it is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes! The best part for me is that it didn't leave me feeling oily or greasy. Sunscreen is so important and we use it a lot so having a spray bottle is so important to apply quickly and easily, but we also want something strong enough to really work. This spray checked all of the boxes! I can't wait to buy more next summer when pool season kicks off!

Bourbon Vanilla Bar Soap by MISTRAL - Retail Value $14.00

This soap smelled incredible! I could honestly smell it before I even opened the box, and then once you open the smell just comes out in this wonderful sweet bourbon cloud of delicious! My husband loves bar soap, but he especially loves when it has a sweet yet masculine smell like this one does. This bar is made with a vegetable-based formula with moisturizing glycerin, replenishing argan oil, and antioxidant-rich grape leaf extract so it has an amazing lather without being harsh on your skin. Plus it is alcohol and paraben-free! My husband already told me that he wants another bar of this once he uses up this one, he loves it that much! It makes his skin feel clean, gets a wonderful lather, yet he is left feeling super soft. He also smells incredible after using it. Sweet, smoky, with that big bourbon kick that is just awesome! What a well-crafted bar of soap!

Inflatable Solar Light by MPOWERD - Listed Value $18.00

This is both a pocket-sized flashlight and emergency light in one. It is waterproof, super light, durable, and charges from the sunlight! This would be perfect to take on a camping trip, to keep in your car for emergencies, or to have in your bag on a hike. It is light and easy to set up for use as well! My husband showed this to our neighbor who was really into it because they do a lot of biking and camping. We decided to be nice since they have done a lot for us lately and gift this to him! We knew he would get a lot more use out of it than us and we're happy to see him so excited for it!

Verdict: This month's The Box By Fashionsta for Men was a fun variety of products. My husband absolutely loved the bar soap, he is already asking for another! He has finally found a face wash that he enjoys using in this month's featured face wash, it leaves his oily skin feeling clean while keeping him hydrated. Plus, it helps reduce signs of aging which he was super excited about. The sunscreen is always a must so its always exciting to receive a bottle with an SPF 50, especially when we just ran out of our last bottle. The sunscreen is another item, along with the bar soap and face wash, that we will be buying again once he runs out of these. The fanny pack is being added to his collection, yes he has a fanny pack collection because why not. The only item really that he wasn't wild about was the light, but we gifted it to our awesome neighbors who thought it was really cool and wanted to use it when biking and camping. This month's box came in with a retail value of $102.99, well above the monthly cost of $29.99, including free shipping. Subscription boxes have always been my thing, but it has been so much fun introducing my husband to this world. It is also great seeing him try new products that he normally wouldn't use, and discovering things like the face wash that he likes on his own rather than using the products that I have for myself. I always say this because it is true, but this is such a great box to gift to that guy in your life that could use a little self-care!

For the price this seems like a great box. The soap sounds really nice and who couldn’t use more sun screen. i don’t think my husband would use the fanny pack but I would. I think this sub would make a nice gift.

Wow, it’s incredibly rude and sexist to make fun of the reviewer’s writing style like that. If she’s excited about the box, I’m glad it makes its way to her writing because it gets others interested. To turn it into a “Women and their emotions!” thing is disgusting and old-fashioned; with that attitude I’m surprised you didn’t blame it on her period.

I apologize if my comments were taken as sexist. I would say the same thing about the use of exclamations if it were a man writing this as well. Not at all intended as a gender slam; rather, it’s an observation that the overuse diminishes the content and, like using all caps, seems to yell at readers.

I also wasn’t making fun at anyone’s expense. Please note that I said “I wonder” at how the review would read if written by a man. Would he be as seemingly enthusiastic? Would the box elicit the same response? We don’t know.

To turn this around a bit, imagine if we had men reviewing boxes for their wives? Would we be comfortable with that, or wouldn’t we ask that she embrace her own voice and write the review?

I think it’s condescending to consistently see reviews of men’s boxes written by their spouses and it reinforces gendered stereotypes that are, as stated, “old-fashioned.”

I want to gift a box to a few men in my life, but finding anything other than “my husband” second-hand reviews here at this site has been challenging.

Again, I apologize if my comments were not received in the spirit in which they were intended.

Best wishes for health and wellness.

Thanks everyone for the support and feedback! We are always working to find writers and the right fit of boxes for each reviewer. We really enjoy working on these boxes together as a couple and I write them with him sitting right next to me so you could say that a lot of the words are coming from him directly. I am usually right there when he is testing the products as well to walk him through using them or to see his overall experience. I try to be as hands-on as possible to add value to the writing for our readers, and I am so sorry if that is not coming across. Exclamation points are simply my way of showing excitement and joy in something, not to come across as yelling, and is the way that I write in all of my reviews not just this one in particular. Thank you again for the feedback and comments.

I agree. I don’t know why there is a need to be rude. It’s easy as clicking the BACK arrow of the browser to pick something else to read. Yes, I know, she’d argue back to me that if I don’t like the comment I’d just scroll by. But I feel the need to express that it’s not a constructive comment when one complains of how many exclamations you see in the review.

So many EXCLAMATION POINTS!! So many! So, so many.

I admire the enthusiasm, but honestly wonder if the review would be the same if a guy reviewed it. Would he end every other sentence with ! Would it be a bit less exuberant? Would the fancy fanny pack actually be a thing? One can only wonder. Oh, wait, I mean WONDER!!

Thanks for the feedback! That is my personality shining through within my writing style. When I genuinely enjoy products I like to have that come across to the reader, or in this case when I see my husband excited about items in this box. I’ve been told before that I lay on the exclamation points a little heavy at times but I just can’t help myself!!!

LOL now that you mention it, but 100% agree I don’t like men sub boxes reviewed in the mans perspective by significant other. I’d prefer they not be reviewed at all if it isn’t a man. What’s the point? They now have a couple guys they need to change who receives these. Come on MSA let’s get this changed.

I disagree with the review by a man or not at all part. This box sounds great and I am actually really intrigued by that soap!

My husband really likes this box – it’s an affordable monthly option that has more than just skincare!
