Does anyone know how to open the Vichy sample? Do I break it?

I loved the mask, it did make my skin dewy in the morning. I love sampling higher end products. I get a lot of compliments on my skin (I’m 46). Completely attribute it to BeautyFix. I’ve been a beauty fix member for 2 years. I read somewhere that it’s good to change up your skin care routine. BeautyFix allows me to do this. The samples sometimes last a month or two! So my skin is constantly receiving different nutrients. For me, I subscribed just for skin products. I don’t want makeup. It’s always a win for me.

I’m an eternal experimenter and I love trying high end skincare brands. I’ve really never found another sub that consistently deliver that the way Beauty Fix does. I have been on a long break from this sub but decided to sign up again. Glad I didn’t miss the Nuori mask!

The mask looks really nice – I squizzed the ingredients list, and it’s all good stuff I know my skin responds positively to. I’m also interested in trying the sunscreen. I may grab this later in the month.

Love this box! True skin care products that are high end. I subscribed to this box to receive skin care items. I really need face sunblock. hoping it’s not greasy.

Wow, no.

This is just very boring to me.

Guylaine

Boring is the perfect word for this month’s box! It was an easy pass.

JuJu

Lol, my initial reply to these spoilers, which for some reason never posted, was just one word – boring. 😎

Randie

No. No. No.

cheap..cheap..cheap….everybox is doing this now….pay more, get less….the american dream…

Cancelled after many years with them due to teeny tiny samples. No regrets, just validation my decision was right after seeing this spoiler. Oh well. Other boxes out there to get!

Errmmm

So sad……I used to be their biggest fan and defended the boxes as they got smaller and lighter and less generous.

This is just……no. I cancelled last month and will definitely not resume this month. I mean, ok – one full-sized item that is expensive. Got it. But the other 5 items are abysmal and almost comically tiny. It’s like a new person took over curating about 5 months ago and decided to start being greedy.

Go back to MSA reviews/spoilers from a year ago (April, May, June, July 2019 etc.) and look at the difference in what was included in their boxes back then. What happened?

I think that the gravy train is over for subscription boxes. It was good while it lasted. We all got insane amounts of beauty and skincare products for next to nothing for a long time. I added it up once and I was paying maybe 15-20% of retail. Last year I think I got $2,000 worth of product for $250. While it is excellent subsidized advertising for companies, I always wondered how they would be able to keep it up and make a profit. The truth is that they cannot. I grabbed Allure deal while I still could. Added that up and it was a way to lock in about $1500 or more worth of skin and beauty for around $176 with tax. Part of the value is that you get the mega bundle. Since they are promising over $100 for each box, that means paying about 10% of retail. After that, I am not counting on a lot of these boxes being able to give us good deals.

It’s not all about the value, though (especially with all those inflated MSRPs for completely unknown brands), it’s about what you would actually use and like. I would say that with most beauty subs the value for me personally has not been that high, which was why after the initial rush upon discovering them I stopped subscribing. The only box I like more or less consistently is Macy’s.

I got the Ipsy Plus this month because there was a cashback offer for Ipsy on my AmEx card, and when making my three selections I noticed that for most of the items they were offering I couldn’t even find reviews anywhere other than on the Ipsy site. They are claiming that with the selections I’ve made I am getting a $270 value, but eh. 🙄 I am going to unsub at the end of the month, don’t want to pay full price.

Still debating an annual Allure sub, especially when I saw in the unboxings on YouTube that the items people are getting in those mega bundles are different from what they were a few months ago. It’s just been so long since I actually liked any of their boxes, and we have no way of knowing how much of an improvement the new format will be. But we’ll see – I want to at least see the full October spoilers first.

Liz

I love your insight! Makes a lot of sense. How do you feel about Ipsy reg or plus? What other subs did you get?

Oz

If the full size product didn’t have an ingredient that I am allergic to, I might have gotten this box, but most of the value is in the 1 item. I looking forward to trying out the new VIP Box from New Beauty/Test Tube. Glad I skipped this one. I used to love every month of Beautyfix, but I have not been impressed lately.

Veronica Stewart

Totally agree. Never thought I would be this disappointed in Beautyfix.

Laura

So true!

Sara

Been subscribing to this box since January but decided to unsubscribe last month because things are repeating and not enough full size products.
Also now when dermstore is sending it’s own products just confirms that unsubscribing was the right move.

Jenny

If you’re interested in that mask and/or interested in trying otherwise prohibitively expensive anti-aging products, this is a good box! I quickly ran the numbers, and if I got them right, many of those smaller samples have high value, as is typical of a lot of BeautyFix products.

NUORI Supreme Moisture Mask (1.7 oz.): $89
Dermstore Daily Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 (0.75 oz.): $15
Vichy LiftActiv Peptide-C Ampoule Anti-Aging Concentrate (0.06 fl. oz.): $3
Dermalogica AGE Smart MultiVitamin Power Firm (0.17 oz.): $22.10
Bioderma Sebium Mat Control (15 ml.): $10
SkinCeuticals Phyto Plus (4 ml.): $11.60
Total value: $150.70

I don’t get BF every month, but I’m going to jump in this month for the mask, to try out the house-brand sunscreen, and to try the other items, all of which will be new to me.

Luna

I agree, it’s a great deal especially if it’s products you want to try, or have tried and want to get more of. 🙂 I’ve tried that mask already, and liked it, but would never pay $89 to get another, so I’m thrilled I can get another full size of it along with other products to sample for only $25. 🙂 In addition to the mask, I’m also re-subbing to get my hands on that Skinceuticals sample. I can never have enough of those, lol. Everything else is very welcomed, but I will gift the sunscreen only because I’m not a fan of facial sunscreens as they always seem to be way too heavy & greasy for my very oily skin. I’ll also gift the Vichy serum, but only because having to break those tiny glass vials to use the products always irrationally scare me and I fear there will be microscopic glass shards in the product, lol. I know brands with these glass vials say they break clean, and I’m sure they do, but I can’t help but still not want to use them…. plus, they always seem to have more product in them than I’d use in one go.

Have you tried Tizo? On my oily days (I have normal/combo skin that leans oily and not dry), I reach for it instead of Goop. It has a very light finish and almost feels like foam. I do get the “primer” (Tizo3) so that may be why it doesn’t really feel like a heavy sunscreen. I got lucky to get it half off on a GMA deal.

Jen

You should try Algenist’s sunscreen. Its thin and light, zero grease and sinks in almost immediately. It also doesn’t smell anything like sunscreen. (I hate the smell of sunscreen) I have dry skin and slather on TONS of moisturizing products and then layer my makeup over all of it, so I can’t have a thick sticky gross sunscreen in the mix. But this plays so nicely with skincare or makeup or both. 10 out of 10 highly recommend giving it a try 🙂

Corin

It’s a good value, but not very practical in the end. If I dislike the main product, the whole box is a waste. I like it, and…then what? I can’t afford to purchase it again. It’s like investing in a relationship that you know is destined to end soon.
Not to mention, I don’t find that you can get a good impression of a skincare product in just the 1-3 uses those tiny samples would give you.

Aarjullor

Corin,
That right there is the exact point to sub boxes! lol Paying low prices for high end products we may or may not love. Which is how many, many of us here have tons of products hidden all over the place. Given as gifts. Donated. Slathering $150 facial oil on our feet to use it up before it expires. Practical? That word and the world of sub boxes don’t coincide.

Agirlhasnoname

I miss the days of multiple full size items, and 7-9 items overall. Yes, the one full size is $$ AF, but just not loving it.

A.M.

So many complaints about sample sized items, but the first product listed, the Nuori mask, is full sized and is valued at $89. I’m super excited for this month’s BeautyFix box!

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

This is exactly what I was going to say! I’m so excited for the mask. This box looks great to me, all products look fun to try!

Milena

I hate to say it, because this has always been my favorite, but I think I’m finally cancelling. I’m interested to try the Bioderma product but there’s been too many tiny samples in here lately.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelsey

BeautyFix was my favorite box, but honestly, every single box has been a miss for me lately. The last box I remember liking was in January. I hope they turn it around soon.

Reply ButtonReply

Jeri

I’m so glad I cancelled a while back…I am not having FOMO with this box…Beautyfix used to be one of my favorite boxes, not sure what happened…even though I see one full size product, there are way too many tiny samples..and some months they don’t even have a “hero” product…With ipsy and boxycharm being the same price point and all full size products, BeautyFIX has a lot to live up to..they need to step up

What happened was that Dermdtore was bought by Target.

Sara

Dermstore was bought by Target in 2013

Tiffany

I really like this box and would get it if I wasn’t on hiatus.

Tanya M.

Me too, Tiffany. I am tempted to try their sunscreen since I wear all year round and they say no white residue. Today, I am staying strong. That’s today.. lol. I give myself to the 20th …

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya M.

I thought I caved earlier but apparently didn’t complete the sale but caved the 27th.. this box is DOPE!!!! Seriously, I am so happy about the Nouri… just in time for fall and winter and I am almost out of my African Botanics one … and that Skinceuticals I will save for November so I can be stuntin’ for the fam Thanksgiving photo. I can’t remember who mentioned Skinceuticals but I would like to thank them again…. the whole box is level up.. Love it!

Tiffany

Same! My willpower is fading, as demonstrated by my return to this post. 🤣

Kirsten

Nothing here for me this month.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

For $25 you get sample sizes?! This box used to be so good.

Reply ButtonReply

Kirsten

I know, right? BeautyFix used to be my favorite. I only get maybe two boxes a year now, if they happen to have something I use or have been looking for. Even that happens less and less.

Lisa

Yikes 🥺 this is pretty bad.
