Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review - July 2020

It's important to note that for a limited time, Frank And Oak is waiving their $25 styling fee when you use the MSA coupon code, and has extended their return policy to 30 days! That means you can sign up for the Style Plan for free and only pay for the items you hold on to.

*As a reminder, you will get charged for everything in your Style Plan box up-front when ordering and will receive a refund for anything you end up returning.

Another great feature that sets this clothing subscription apart from others is that they have a button on most of their items to "Add to my next Style Plan box." This allows you to select what goes in your Style Plan box without the help of a stylist, or you can take some of the stylist's suggestions but not others. Not every item has this feature, but many do. I've never seen this feature in a styling subscription before, but the fact that it's an option here is part of what made me really love my first experience with Frank And Oak!

My Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review

Hi, everyone! I tumbled through quite the comedy of errors involving a broken camera remote, a crashed computer, and a very hilariously deliberate Review Husband (the new Instagram Husband) to bring you this review. You will see the many faces of outfit photo negotiation throughout this month's shots. I'm so happy to be here!

Textured Camp Collar Dress in Light Sage, size small - Retail Value $119/Member Price $107.50

Are you kidding me with this dress? It is, if I may use a strong word, perfect. It's one of those pieces that looked gorgeous on the Frank And Oak model (what doesn't?), then looked much like a blob when I pulled it out of the mail, tempering the expectations, but proceeded to feel heavenly on my own frame. I think it looks nice, too! Frank And Oak just really does their clothes right. Meaning, this dress is sturdy, it has pockets, and its straight fit with an optional waist tie are quite flattering. My only feedback is that while it's got a great cut for a hot summer day, it's not immensely breathable, so it felt a little heavy on the extraordinarily humid afternoon on which I first tried it on. But it's just right for summer evenings and as the weather begins to cool. Also, this is my first article of clothing in this sage color, which I find to be so peaceful.

See what Marne thought of this dress in black here.

Textured Viscose Button-Up Tee in Deep Wine, size small - Retail Value $69.50/Member Price $49.99

When I previewed my July Style Plan and saw that my stylist had chosen this top for me, I thought it looked really nice but totally missed the "viscose" in the name, and was expecting a henley-style tee to arrive. When I felt it in person and found that it's actually a very lightweight, delicately textured blouse, my eyes grew wide and formed into hearts. It's gorgeous. Such a nice way to elevate a day-to-day look—or, its fine texture could absolutely be played up with a dressier look. Whereas the sage dress was a little weighty for a 95-degrees-and-humid day, this top was just the opposite: light, breathable, and easy!

Drop Shoulder Sweatershirt in Chocolate Burgundy, size small - Retail Value $69.50/Member Price $59.50

Had such a cozy time in this sweatshirt! It's roomier than I'm used to—I had been riding the close, cropped sweatshirt train for awhile—but it's exactly what I'll be reaching for on the next chilly evening. While not cropped at all, I thought the waistband sat nicely with these shorts (anyone else live for the few days a year when shorts + a sweatshirt make sense?), and in the second photo you can see my holding out my arm to display the drop shoulder, which provides plenty of space to do nothing in, and do it right. This sweatshirt is offered in lots of colors both neutral and bright, and they're all pretty for their own reasons.

By the way, this pullover is 65% organic cotton, 21% cotton, and 14% polyester. The cotton was responsibly grown and harvested with sustainable methods. I love it even more knowing that! But I also feel it helps justify the price. It would be hard for me to drop $60-70 on a basic sweatshirt if it weren't sustainably made.

Set of 2 Reusable Masks - Retail Value $24/Member Price $21.50

Masks! Yes! I obviously had to give these a try. While my family hasn't been in full quarantine since the end of June, I really have minimized my going places (other than to our nearby park where it's easy to stay far away from others), so I haven't perfected my mask situation. This set comes with two matching, reversible masks made from 100% organic cotton. They are cleverly designed with elastic you can adjust—see the how-to video at the bottom of this page—and a slot into which you can add your own lil' twisty tie if you want a flexible nose piece. As it turned out, the masks were too small for my husband and a little too large for me (as you can see from the third photo above), but my issue is easily solved by tucking the nose part under. I may ask my neighbor who's a seamstress to trim it down a little for me. But even without being perfect for me, I like these masks enough that I've switched over to using them exclusively. Would recommend!

Verdict: My July Style Plan by Frank And Oak was a happy delivery! The dress is oh-so-flattering and something that will make going out—you know, to my front porch—feel special. The buttoned top was a beautiful surprise, and the sweatshirt is the coziest one I own. The masks, while not the perfect fit for my face, are still an upgrade from what I was using and so well-made!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Style Plan by Frank And Oak uses your preferences and tastes to curate a mix of styles just for you, so you may have different options than me. You can sign up for your own Style Plan to see what the styling team will pick for you (and/or make some picks for yourself, like I did)!

ACTIVE DEAL: Get $35 off your first month of Style Plan!
CODE: MSA35

Value Breakdown: The retail price for the four items I received this month (counting the set of masks as one item) is $282.00, but with the discounted member pricing it comes to $238.49. That's a savings of $35.50 for this box—$8.01 greater savings than last month!
