August 2020 So Susan Color Curate Review

There was no info card included this month.

Limited-Edition Makeup Bag, August 2020 - Retail Value $12.00

I'm loving this bag's sweet ice cream print over a pale blue background. Check out those cute watermelon pops!

So Susan Cosmetics Summer Skin Bronzing and Sculpting Palette - Retail Value $42.00

Summer palettes can be very hit or miss for me because I am super fair and if the shade is even the slightest bit yellow it looks wildly warm on my face. This trio of bronzers is so pretty, but so not for me! I could totally see myself using the first shade as a contour powder, but the others are way too warm/orange. As far as the formula goes, these are quite nice! If you are someone who loves a good bronzer in the summer (or year-round!) I bet you will be very happy with this palette.

Left to right: Capri, Ibiza, and Bali.

So Susan Cosmetics Dream Maker Light-Shifting Highlighting Cream in "Vision", 10 mL - Retail Value $29.00

I have tried a few shades of this cream before and I always am amazed at the shimmering power of this seemingly demure cream. This white cream goes on sheer but is electric with blue shine. It would be too blue for my sort of look in terms of a highlighter, but I absolutely love it as a sheer lid look.

This is a pretty accurate shot of that blue flash!

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Supernova Dual Eyeshadow in "Astrostar", 3 g - Retail Value $18.00

Jelly Pong Pong is one of those brands that always has incredibly pigmented eyeshadows and this duo was really impressive! 'Astrostar' is a pairing of a shimmering dark chocolate and a toasted fawn sort of shade. Both are buttery smooth and dramatic while still working for a natural shadow look.

Very impressed with this pigment.

Trifle Cosmetics Bonbon Bling Potted Pigment in "Snowflake Muffin", 2.3 g - Retail Value $15.00

This is the sort of glitter I would be scared to use near my eyes because you can really feel it! You would absolutely have to use some sort of adhesive to prevent this from falling into your eyes and really hurting. The round particles are a metallic ice blue and coordinate really well with the highlight cream above and though I might wait until winter to play with these more, they are really beautiful.

Elsa approved.

Verdict: So Susan Color Curate has a value of $116.00 this month. I feel like though this was a summer bag, half of it felt more like ice and snow with those cool metallic blues. This might not have been the ideal mix of shades for myself personally, but the formulas were solid and the pigments and colors dreamy. Though I would have preferred some more summery shades than ice blues, I do still really like them in general so I would have a hard time being super disappointed here.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve been wanting to sub to this box for a looooong time now but with face masks, makeup is pretty useless to me :/
I think that loose glitter could be fun in hair and the dual shadows look amazing!

I’m curious about the customer service I’ve always wanted to try them but always hesitate because of the reviews on service, I also saw they charge you for shipping if there are faulty products to send them back before they replace it.. that worries me

I always found them very accommodating and quick to respond, but I never had anything faulty to return. I miss the cute canvas bags they used to have, and the bonus item that was often jewelry.

I still really love the outer packaging of that eye shadow.

Great photo of the blue shift of the highlighter!
