Pet Treater Cat Pack July 2020 Review

I used to find the dog version of Pet Treater a little bit random but the cat version (maybe because it is smaller) is often a little more focused:

There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of inserts. There used to be a sticker each month but this seems to have been discontinued.

There were also some ads this month.

On to the items:

Kerchief

There is now a kerchief every month. Although I appreciate that they are sending finished items that will hold up to some use, my cats don't really like wearing kerchiefs. I can usually get Monkey to sit still for a picture. I'd kind of like to see more other types of costumes or hats as I just find them funnier. This one has llamas and cacti and I'm not sure what that theme is supposed to be but most of the prints on these are a bit quirky.

Petlinks Mobile Madness Spinning Feather Toy - Retail Value $15.99

Please take the retail value with a grain of salt as this seems to be discontinued in most places that carry it and I could only find it from third-party sellers on Amazon. This has a suction disc that is supposed to make it stick to flat surfaces. It did OK as long as the cats weren't pulling on it too hard, and better on the floor than on a vertical surface. Several of my cats are interested in feathers and this did generate a fair amount of attention if not much actual play (but that can't be blamed completely on the toy as my cats are 12, 13, and 14 years old and not as playful as they were 10 years ago).

Terra Toys Cylinder with Feathers - Retail Value $4.58

This is super lightweight because it's hollow, which is something my cats tend to prefer, especially as they get older. This is good for batting around on the floor so it is mostly a Monkey item. It's kind of hard to capture in still photos how he played with this, but he did like it.

Prime Taste Treats, Trout (7 treats) - Retail Value $3.09

These are sticks called "jerky" sticks but they're really more like semi-moist treats in extended form. They are scored so you can break them apart but I really just like holding out the whole stick so my cats will bite it. I get good pictures and my hands don't get bitten, plus my cats seem to like them, so it's a win all around.

Buddy Biscuits Cat Treats, Tuna (3 oz) - Retail Value $3.95 (found here for $2.74)

I like this brand. I buy some of their dog cookies for my puppy. The cats like them as well. These are also semi-moist treats and they are not too stinky despite the fish flavor. Plus they come in a resealable bag for freshness and they are made in the US.

Gratuitous cat photos:

Verdict: I was unable to calculate a total value for the July Pet Treater Cat Pack since the kerchief isn't available online and I also have my doubts about the price of the mobile with feathers since it's discontinued. However, this was a pretty good month for this subscription -- it included two kinds of treats, and they are both kinds of treats my cats love and can consume with no trouble (not too hard to bite pieces off, for example). Also the toys generated a fair amount of interest, even from my relatively older cats.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first pack will ship immediately filled with the most popular fan favorites. Also, there may be some variation among boxes sent during the same month.

Value Breakdown: At $15 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately $3 per item.

Now that I finally have 2 cats- I’m looking for good sub boxes for them. I just did a 3 month to CatLady (can’t wait!) but… a kerchief? IDK a lot of cats that wear them. Seems like a dog thing?

Congrats on your new kitties! CatLadyBox is the BEST! I’ve been a subscriber for a few years … yes, years … their products are consistently awesome, and their cat toys really hold up well too (and are so cute). Customer service is always fantastic, as well! I don’t work for them (I wish), I just really love them. LOL!

Based on Ragan’s reviews here, Meowbox looks like a good one to try and is on my list for sometime in the future. I did KitNipBox for a while and it was fine, but it didn’t have much variety in the style of toys, at least when I was a subscriber. They featured a lot of stuffed catnip toys without varying textures, so my cats weren’t super into them. They have pretty cute themes, though.

Thanks Amy! Meowbox looks good. Next time they have a deal- I’m going to try that one too!

I think so too. In fact, for awhile they were sending kerchiefs so big I think they must’ve been sending the same ones in the dog box. At least they are cat sized now, and I have older cats who put up with a lot.

Haha, they really just like looking at it, haven’t played much yet, but they are older, so that’s not such a surprise.

Monkey looks dapper in his bandana.

Came here to say the same. What a handsome boy! Great cat pics this month—you can tell they love the treats!

Sneaky loves all treats. Pushes other cats out of the way for them. (If she won’t eat a treat I doubt there are many cats who would.)
