My Ipsy Glam Bag August 2020 Review

Included is a card with a few notes on some ingredients.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month features a silver holographic bag. As a lover of holographic anything, I approve.

LAB for You Tomato and Pumpkin Sheet Mask Duo

As someone who wears like, probably a sheet mask a day, I am always thrilled with more. WFH has turned me into a mask lush. I also really enjoy weird vegetable infused ones so this duo of tomato and pumpkin tick all my boxes. I was kind of bummed the tomato one didn't smell like tomato, but I guess that would be super weird. Both of these fit really well and were covered in clear serum that was runny, but not in an unpleasant way. Both gave my skin a nice dewy boost and left it feeling soft.

KISS & SMINK Matte Creme Lip Crayon in 'Tavarua' - Retail Value $20.00

Though this is a lip crayon, I would say it also makes a very pretty eye shadow stick! The brown is very soft and has a slightly pink tint that is very soft, feminine, and pretty. It has more of a matte finish but is very soft and blendable. This is a new brand to me but I am very into the periwinkle packaging and formula!

She's pretty!

H2O+ Hydration Oasis Refreshing Gel Moisturizer, 0.34 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.56 (Buy a full-size 1.7 fl oz for $37.80)

This made-in-Japan hydration gel feels so nice on sun-kissed skin! Seriously refreshing and instantly cooling to my pink cheeks. It is super lightweight too, making it a nice choice for a daytime moisture boost. Inside this thicker blue gel is a blend of ingredients that actually are a lot less familiar to me than so many other formulas but rank really high with my ingredient dictionary! The majority of them are "skin-identical ingredients" which are naturally found in the skin and assist in moisture and texture. A little of this stuff goes a long way, so this tube will last quite some time.

Hey Honey Trick & Treat Lip Balm Watermelon Balm with Natural Tint, 5 mL - Estimated Value $4.60 (Buy a full-size 15 mL for $23.00)

This was my choice item!

I couldn't resist this cute tinted balm! It has such a nice watermelon scent and is thick and smooth. I really like this stuff. Its natural pink shade enhances my natural lip color but also works well with lipsticks I might want to add a little soft shine to. My lips feel nicely moisturized by this long-lasting balm, and I would totally take more of this!

This isn't blended all the way because you wouldn't be able to see it! Really happy with this match.

TATCHA Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, 5 mL - Estimated Value $6.00 (Buy a full-size 40 mL for $48.00)

My last item is a dewy skin mist (three of my favorite words) from Tatcha. Believe it or not, even after all of the boxes I have reviewed, I still don't see this brand often. I think maybe I've had a foil sample before? Hmm. Either way, I obviously loved this. It was refreshing and set my light makeup beautifully, and added just the tiniest bit of dew to my face. You can also use this solo and its great. Inside is a blend of hydrating oils that feel lightweight on skin. There is a little bit of alcohol in here but it is pretty far down on the ingredient list and my dry skin didn't seem to care at all.

Verdict: I enjoyed my August Ipsy Glam Bag very much. In fact, everything was a winner this month. The value was also quite nice: $38.16, even without the masks which I couldn't verify pricing from a site I trust.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

Value Breakdown: At $12 for this box, each item has an average cost of $2.40. (I considered the mask duo as one item in this calculation.)

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

August was such a great Glam Bag match for me! I just used that Pumpkin mask and I did like it quite a bit. It made me very shiny. There was an extreme amount of serum, so be aware of that. Even though I normally have dry skin, I found the Tatcha to leave an uncomfortably greasy film over my face. I was glad to try it, but it seems that product is not meant for me.

If the full size Hey Honey lip balm is $23 for 15 mL and the sample you got is 5 mL, the value is actually $7.67, not $4.60.

Great review and great bag! When do we make our choice for September?

I got the KISS & SMINK crayon in Marietas, which is just the most gorgeous raspberry shade on me. I LOVE it. I was super impressed with the wear time, too – it lasted over six hours on me, through multiple drinks and even a light meal, with minimal fading in the center. Not what I expect from a lip crayon!

I also got the Hey Honey balm in my bag, and really like it! Plus a Pixi eyeliner in the mulberry shade and the Oryza shadow quad in camo, both of which go well with my green eyes. Ipsy really knocked it out of the park for me this month!

I got almost the same products in my bag. My lip crayon was in the other shade, Marietas. It’s so easy to use! My body chemistry changes the classy medium-pink shade into a screaming fuchsia color a minute after I apply it, but that’s easily fixed by blotting just once with a tissue.

I wonder if Ipsy’s going to show a second round of spoilers for September. I skipped because I already have most of the things they showed in their spoilers so far, but I don’t want to miss out on that corduroy bag!

I second/third how great the Hey Honey lip balm is! I like the smell and how thick it comes on and is somewhat matte yet moisturizing. Great as a primer. it’s strange how I tend to avoid adding on lip balms but this one intrigued me so I added it and glad I did.

That lipstick is beautiful – I wish I had gotten it.

I did get the watermelon lip balm, and it smells SO DANG GOOD! I’ve really enjoyed all the watermelon scented products this summer, even though I don’t even like watermelon (the fruit).

I had totally forgotten how much I wanted that lip balm to be in my bag. Thanks for reminding me😭😭

Still waiting on my bag shipped thru Pitney Bowes. Hope it gets here soon please!!! i bought the Hey Honey lip balm as an add-on and I’m anxious to try it. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a Hey Honey product. Great product pictures, Megan!

Your comment could have been written by me! Literally word for word, same boat, same opinion on Hey, Honey. LOL! I’m supposed to get mine soon-ish, but I’m being very patient because I know the USPS is clogged up majorly.

Great bag! I have also been using sheet masks five days a week since the pandemic happened. I may not be able to go anywhere but my skincare game is at its best!
