August 2020 Dapper Dog Box Review

Each box comes with two info cards, one listing the featured item of the month—the Dapper Dog monthly bandana—and the other has some social media info as well as a little more info about the charitable nature of this box.

Murray is ready to dig in!

Dog Days of Summer Bandana

Every month Dapper Dog includes a festive double-sided bandana. This style is simple to tie and fits perfectly around my dog’s neck. This month’s theme is “Dog Days of Summer,” featuring one beach day motif and the flip side has a summery treat pattern.

Here is the bandana modeled on my BFF, Murray (he is my 9-year-old Corgi-Maltese); the medium size fits him to a T! This summer treats theme is very bright and cheerful.

Petlou 8″ Watermelon Toy – Retail Value $8.95

Murray loves this chubby plush! It is overstuffed, crinkly, and fun for him to swing around and squeak; it even makes a great pillow in a pinch. This was the first thing he pulled out of his box, and he has been enjoying it ever since.

Here he is, swinging his melon.

Bocce’s Bakery Banana Split Dog Treats, 5 oz – Retail Value $5.50

Bocce’s Bakery treats are well-loved by Murray and a recurring brand from Dapper Dog. Banana split biscuits are made up of only four ingredients: oats flour, banana, carob, and vanilla. I love a simple recipe! They are subtly sweet, crunchy, and Murray thinks they are delicious.

Noms!

Exclusively Dog Smoochers Drops with Yogurt, 7 oz – Retail Value $7.19 (on sale for $6.83)

My boy really loves his soft and chewy treats. I could smell the fruit when I opened the bag, which wasn’t appealing to me, but it sent Murray into a frenzy! Murray loves the tangy yogurt and fruity taste of these little drops. They are wheat, corn, and soy-free, and all of Exclusively Dog’s treats are made in the US.

Just look at the longing…

Petlou Cactus Plush – Retail Value $6.60

Of course, Mur was excited about this extra loud cactus toy. He loves to pounce on it after he’s thrown it into the air, landing on its huge squeaker. This month’s toys are very similar, but Murray isn’t hard to please. He loves all plush, fuzzy toys all the same.

Happy and noisy!

Verdict: Dapper Dog’s August box was a sweet reminder of how much we enjoy this subscription; two fun Murray-approved toys and delicious treats to last us all month long, that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect and love from DD! The value of the items received in Dapper Dog usually adds up to what you would pay for the subscription; for us, it is worth the cost to have treats and toys delivered each month, especially at this time.

Abby has been a box enthusiast since July 2011, finding her calling with Birchbox. That was the start of a new era for Abby, because she is now hooked on the subscription box life; she loves the idea of receiving (several) thoughtful treats from genius curators such as Lisa Sugar and Rachel Zoe. A few other loves of hers would be her dog named Bill Murray, Bill Murray and chocolate babka.
