Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box Review

Ready for another month of oils?

The first things I grabbed from the package were two cards: one with a note from Katie (the curator and aromatherapist behind this box!) and the other with all the info on the included oils this month. It also let me know that 13% of my purchase cost was donated to Dton Naam, a non-profit dedicated to helping boys and young men that were forced into human trafficking by providing programs, counseling, and education. It makes me feel extra excited to support companies that give back and deliver awesome boxes.

Also included were 6 recipe cards and coordinating stickers to use on all my handmade items!

Now, for the oils I received this month:

Cardamom Essential Oil, 5 mL – Retail Value $19.99

From Simply Earth:

Commonly added to traditional Indian sweets and teas because of its distinct cool and minty aroma and flavor. Cardamom is also used for respiratory and digestive support as well as for soothing various aches and pains.

This is a smaller 5 mL bottle, which is quite rare for Simply Earth. This usually happens when the oil is pretty expensive, which is the case here. This little bottle is pricy! Luckily, you don’t need much of this herbal and sweet oil to make a statement. It manages to be woody, herbal, sweet, and cool all at the same time and adds a lot of depth to most blends.

Lavender Essential Oil, 15 mL – Retail Value $13.99

From Simply Earth:

One of the most well-known and commonly used essential oils in aromatherapy, Lavender boasts a wide array of benefits including promoting healthier skin and hair, supporting the immune system, and aiding in sleep.

I love, love, love lavender and I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of some in this subscription for some time now. This blend is from Bulgarian lavender which is fruitier and less sharp than my French lavender from another company. This is perfect for my default house blend of sweet orange+lavender+patchouli that I use for pretty much EVERYTHING.

Timber Essential Oil Blend, 15 mL – Retail Value $11.99

From Simply Earth:

Timber Essential Oil Blend is a gentle blend perfect for DIY skincare products. It’s antibacterial and soothing to the skin. It has a woody & vanilla aroma that is masculine without being overpowering.

This is a rather sexy blend of woods and citrus: cypress, cedar, sandalwood, patchouli, balsam, and mandarin. It’s manly but also slightly sweet, and makes an incredible diffuser blend.

Bumps & Boo-boos Essential Oil Blend, 15 mL – Retail Value $15.99

From Simply Earth:

Bumps & Boo-boos Essential Oil Blend can help improve the appearance of skin. The ingredients will ease and soothe skin irritation while the scent will calm nerves.

This is a great blend for adding a drop or two to your fave lotion or carrier oil. It has a really clean, sharp, and herbal scent and the oils inside (helichrysum, lavender, tea tree, and lemon) should help skin healing and reduce inflammation.

Dried Calendula Flowers, 0.1 oz

Who doesn’t love marigolds? They have a sweet floral scent that also reminds me of fresh hay. They also are really calming for the skin when used in skincare and infusions.

Aloe Vera Gel, 2 oz – Retail Value $5.99

I am pretty much the sunburn queen, though I try really, really hard to wear sunscreen daily. I always do on my face, but sometimes I forget the back of my neck or arms, and aloe is my go-to for burns. The aloe gel you can often find in the store is full of alcohol, added dyes and fragrance, and a lot of other icky things. This little tub of pure aloe is going to be a lifesaver this summer.

I decided to try out the Calendula Solar Infused Oil this month!

Verdict: Simply Earth was a win this month! I loved every single oil and blend and thought the calendula flowers and aloe gel were perfect because of the recipes this time. I am really excited to try out the solar infused oil in a few weeks and I have already been utilizing the skin healing gel on the back of my neck! The oils themselves also work great solo in a diffuser, so even if you aren’t as into recipes, this box is still great for essential oil enthusiasts.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No—if you subscribe today, you’ll receive the July box as your first as well as the big bonus box!

COUPON: Use code MYSUBSCRIPTIONADDICTIONFREE to receive a $20 gift card towards future purchases plus a $50 value bonus box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $39.00 (with free shipping) so each of the 6 items in the monthly box has an average cost of $6.50.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. Calendula are not actual marigolds. They are commonly called pot marigolds, but are not the same thing as marigolds (poor mans saffron).
