TheraBox “Pamper” May 2020 Review

TheraBox includes a mini magazine highlighting the ingredients to happiness included in each month’s box. It includes a note from the editor, opportunities to win free boxes, a list of all the items included in this month’s box, and TheraBox FAQs. I love that TheraBox provides a description of each product, a link to the product’s website, the cost of the item, and a coupon code if available.

Pampering Sheet Mask by Florapy – Listed Value $7

I loved this mask! It had a rubber feel to it so it really sticks to your face and makes it very comfortable to wear without any sliding. I wasn't sure what Arnica Rose is, but according to the site, it helps to eliminate puffiness, awakens tired skin, and provides a deep clean to your pores. I didn't get much of a scent from this, which I like! I used this at night, leaving on for 20 minutes, then massaged in the excess serum and went to bed without feeling the need to add any extra moisturizer. I woke up feeling hydrated and smooth. I did notice a few whiteheads that had come out in some spots, but that might have been from the deep clean of the Arnica Rose just bringing out all of the impurities within my skin. All in all, I loved this mask and would absolutely purchase one on my own!

Pamper Time Card Deck by The Happy Shoppe – Listed Value $18

My favorite part about this box is that there is such a focus on self-care and self-love. I don't focus on myself enough so this box is sort of that little nudge that I need each month. These cards are a super fun way to take care of yourself. The cards are filled with things I wouldn't even really think to do, like change your perfume or wear your favorite lingerie. The deck has 30 cards filled with ideas and activities for you to do! You could do a new one every day or just keep it tucked away to grab a new card whenever you are feeling some self-care is in order. Such a fun treat!

Work Hard Essential Oil Blend by Jubel Naturals, 10 mL – Listed Value $21 (other oils in product catalog available for $20)

I love receiving essential oil blends and I use them pretty much every day. This blend is perfect for me personally because it is meant to energize one's aura while providing feelings of alertness and focus. You can rub some of this oil on your wrist, use it in a diffuser, or add it to an essential oil bead bracelet. The healing benefits of this blend are a total bonus because the smell is my favorite part! This blend has a strong rosemary, lemon, cedarwood, clary sage, and clove scent which is my favorite! It is masculine with hints of feminine scents that make this my favorite to diffuse around my house to provide those healing energy vibes that I need all day long!

Charcoal Gommage Peeling Gel by Vitamasques, 1.6 fl oz. – Retail Value $19

This gel is incredible! I received the charcoal peel, but you could have received the rose peeling gel as well. This gel works to exfoliate your skin gently with the charcoal to help clean your pores and remove impurities from deep within your skin. It removes dead skin cells to bring out a healthy glow and flawless skin. I have been using this gel twice a week at night before my bedtime routine and OMG it is working wonders for me! It is quick and easy which I think is what I really love about it. You just add about a nickel size of the gel to your hand and massage it into your skin in a circular motion for about two minutes then rinse. The first time I used this gel I didn't even have to massage for two minutes, the exfoliation started instantly and it removed SO much dead skin it was crazy. The best part is that it hasn't irritated my sensitive skin at all, I am just left with clean, smooth, and glowing skin. I will absolutely be purchasing this again!

Amazonite & Lava Diffuser Bracelet by Gen 3 Jewels – Retail Value $30

This bracelet is absolutely beautiful! I love that it is also a diffuser as well! I love essential oils, but I have never used a diffuser bracelet before. I am sold on them though! I have been using this month's 'work hard' blend in the diffuser and I love being able to smell it throughout the day and receive its healing benefits. According to the booklet, amazonite is a soothing stone to help balance emotions and promote tranquility. So not only is this bracelet beautiful to wear, but you are also receiving so many spiritual and health benefits each day that you wear it!

The Original MakeUp Eraser in Original Pink – Retail Value $20

This makeup eraser cloth is polyester and is made up of tiny hair-like fibers that allow you to remove your makeup and exfoliate your skin with just water. You can reuse it and wash it with ease and the booklet says it can last up to 5 years. The cloth itself is extremely soft, I wanted to love it, but I ran into a few issues. First, I didn't find that it absorbed water very well so I had to really let it soak before using. It did do a good job of removing most of my makeup, which I then removed the remainder with my usual face wash. However, the big issue that I had was that the fibers came off while I was using it leaving some fibers on my face and in my eyes. I tried it a few different times hoping it would improve, but unfortunately, the same thing happened each time I used it. While this wasn't my favorite product it was fun to try a makeup remover cloth, unlike anything that I have used before.

Lumen Dark Spot Corrector Serum by Minimo, 1 fl oz. – Retail Value $19.95

This serum is made with bilberry extract, licorice root extract, chamomile extract, and much more! It works to even dark spots, treat acne scars, and repair discoloration. Serums that are meant to treat dark spots and acne scars can work wonders, but it is very important to follow the directions exactly. Personally, I don't have any dark spots or scarring on my skin, but my husband has a few dark spots on his cheeks that he has actually been saying recently that they are bothering him. So what a perfect product to receive for him to try! He has been using it for a few nights now and is really liking it! The serum has a really light lemon scent to it that is very fresh; a little goes a long way with this serum as it can leave your skin feeling a bit sticky. Time will tell how it treats his dark spots. Here is the 'How To' guide that I found on the Minimo site for reference.

Use 1 pump. Use finger to dap Lumen Dark Spot Corrector directly onto dark spots. You can also massage 2 pumps of the Lumen Dark Spot Corrector into the skin in a circular motion for overall application. Let sit for 5 minutes, then massage fully into skin in a circular motion until fully absorbed. If used in the morning, apply a sunscreen or product containing SPF after application (not necessary at night).

Caffeine Infused Conditioner by Skin Chemists, 10.14 fl oz. – Listed Value $35

This month you could have received either the Biotin Caffeine & Collagen Shampoo or Conditioner, Caffeine Infused Shampoo or Conditioner, or Keratin Infused Shampoo or Conditioner. I received the Caffeine Infused Conditioner. According to the box, caffeine targets the hair loss hormone and works to allow the hair to produce ATP (a form of energy that encourages hair growth). The instructions indicate to massage this conditioner into clean, wet hair (especially your ends), and let it soak in for about two minutes before rinsing through thoroughly. I am always on the lookout for a new and even better conditioner that will help my hair grow, strengthen it, leave it shiny, smooth my curls, and allow me to brush through my thick curly hair easily after washing. Unfortunately, this conditioner was not for me at all. The conditioner itself looked more like shampoo, it was very thin and runny, nothing at all like a conditioner that would work in my type of hair. I could see this being great for someone with straight hair that needs less hydration, but for me, hydration (and a lot of it) is the only thing that will get a brush through my hair. I used a ton of this conditioner on my ends, but I can't say that I noticed much of a difference. Sadly, I am going to push this one to the side for right now to see if one of my girlfriends would like to give it a try.

The Verdict: This month's TheraBox was pretty good, but it was a hard month to follow after April's amazing product curation in celebration of their 3rd birthday. My favorite product of the month was the charcoal peel gel and the amazing essential oil blend and bracelet. I always love how the products highlight ways that you can build more self-care and self-love into your daily life, and this month's pamper cards did just that for me. Even if I don't use them every day, they are something that I can always revisit. The conditioner was a big miss for me, but that tends to happen a lot for me when it comes to hair products since I need pretty specific products for my curly hair. I bet it would be someone else's new favorite product though depending on their hair type! This month's estimated retail value is $168.95 making this box an awesome deal considering the $39.98 price ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping). While this month's product didn't blow me away, I really love trying new items and learning about new brands, and just having something that allows for "me time" in the middle of a busy week.

Did you wash the Makeup Eraser before using it the first time? I had the same problem with the fibers coming off all over the place until I found out you’re supposed to wash it before using it the first time. After washing it I never had that problem again. I hope this helps you get more use out of it

I didn’t! I must have totally missed that you are supposed to do that first. Thanks so much!

I was going to ask the same thing! When I got my first one I wasn’t that impressed, however after washing it and giving it another chance I just love them. And I don’t have a problem with any fibers. It’s possible that you got a defective (??) one.

Hi Taryn!! You need to machine wash and dry the Makeup Eraser before using the first time. It should work fine after that.

Thanks so much! I didn’t know you were supposed to do that so I am going to wash and give it another go!

I enjoyed this months box.

1) The serum definitely leaves your skin a bit sticky. I’m using it under my regular moisturizer and I have a couple of age spots on my face so we’ll see how it works. 2) The conditioner was very thin to me. 3) The facial mask to me had a very strong rose scent so I unfortunately threw it out. I can’t stand rose scented items and being so close to my nose I couldn’t take it. Sad because it sounds like a good mask. 4) The bracelet and oil was cute. Someone in the Therabox FB group cautioned about using the oil sparingly and not to wear long sleeves because the oil can transfer. 5) The cards were meh. Not my favorite “self care” item. 6)I have not tried the charcoal mask, but based on your review I definitely will!

Thanks for the review. Therabox is my new favorite box. I actually have a double subscription by accident. So sharing the extra items with friends and family.
