meowbox May 2020 Review

meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:

The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a farmer's market theme.

Sunflower Wand

A lot of months, there's a wand toy. This one's pretty great because the felt feathers are easy for kitties to hook a claw or tooth into and hold on. Sneaky is my main wand kitty these days and she was a fan. But after a fairly violent play session, this is still in good shape.

Corny Kicker

This is fun. Although it's listed as a kicker, it's on the small side as kickers go, which is what my cats tend to prefer. The corn part has one texture and the corn husk has a somewhat different texture and then there's corn silk too, which Madison really liked.

Yappetizers Dried Chicken Breast (0.56 oz)

This is clever. The packaging is a little different so that the item fits in better with the theme. Sneaky and Monkey were fans. Anyway, after I took photos, I put this on a shelf, and someone knocked it down later (Sneaky?) and ate all the rest of it. She keeps coming back to the bag and checking to see if there's any more.

Blueberry Patch

This is really cute. It's a blueberry basket with two blueberries! Although they're small, they're a fine size for a cat. Or leave them attached to the basket if you'd like. I can tell with items like this that someone is putting a lot of thought into not only coming up with items that fit the theme, but clever and slightly different items instead of just 4 or 5 toys of roughly the same size and type.

Crochet Kitty Purrserves

Crochet Kitty is an Etsy shop and this is a handmade toy. Their items appear fairly often in meowbox, but my cats really like them, so I don't mind. This is also sort of felt-like, but a little softer than the sunflower felt, and it's a good size for my cats as well. This one has been moving around the bedroom floor, which means it's getting played with a fair amount.

Gratuitous cat photos:

Verdict: I couldn't calculate a total value for May’s meowbox because most of the items weren't yet for sale in their shop. They will likely show up later, however, sometimes it takes them a few weeks. This was a pretty good box for my kitties though and I have to admit I thought the items were pretty cute as well. (Sneaky appreciated treat packaging that didn't require opposable thumbs to open...)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It is too late for the May box, so your subscription would likely start with June, but you can buy some of the individual items from the meowbox store; just wait a week or two for the items to show up as they're not listed yet.

Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the subscription plus free shipping, you are paying approximately $4.59 per item.
