Love With Food Deluxe June 2020 Box Review

The box comes with a card. I would say these have to do with themes but the snacks don't seem selected based on themes at all:

There was also some advertising material this month:

On to the items:

Old Wisconsin Natural Cut Turkey Snack Stick (0.5 oz) - Buy 10 for $14.25 (found here for $13)

These show up rather often in Love With Food. I guess they must have obtained a lot of them at some point. It seems meat sticks are popular these days (perhaps because of the keto diet?) or at least the food subscription boxes are pushing them. As you may know, I am a vegetarian, and my husband won't eat meat sticks. I am going to have to go into the office to switch out computers one of these days, and I have accumulated a handful of such products from food subscriptions lately, and I'm going to leave all of them in the kitchen where someone else can enjoy them, as we do have a lot of people on the keto diet in my office. Anyway, just be forewarned that you will see items like this. If you like them, great, and if not, there's not really anything you can do about it. I would really like to see a vegetarian version of Love With Food, though.

Bobo's Oat Bites, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (1.3 0z) - Buy 15 for $16.50 (found here for $15)

These have been showing up every month as well. Sometimes with different flavors. In principle these seem like something I would like, and I will give them credit for actually visible mini chocolate chips (as other chocolate chip snacks have maybe 2-3 chips per serving...). But, I have come to the conclusion that these are just too dry for me. I like oat snacks and I like peanut butter and chocolate, but I prefer something with a softer, less crumbly texture.

Utz Premium White Cheddar Popcorn (0.75 oz) - Buy 10 for $11 (found here for $10)

This was in last month's box as well. I do like it, though. I have been a fan of cheese-flavored popcorn for over 30 years, and this has a good texture for bagged popcorn. I should probably do some reviews and cash in points on this if it is available in the Rewards Pantry, I'll have to go check.

180 Snacks Almond Rice Pops with Blueberries (0.5 oz) - Buy 10 for $10 (found here for $9)

I think we got these last month, too. These show up fairly often, either in this flavor or the one with cranberries instead of blueberries. What is nice about them is that you feel like you are eating a lot but not getting very many calories. But they are basically cut-up cubes of rice cake with a little bit of dried fruit.

Sheffa Coconut Dark Chocolate Granola Bar (0.85 oz) - Buy 15 for $16.35 (found here for $14.50)

I don't know if we have received this particular flavor before, but there was a period of time last year when we would get at least one of these bars per month (they also had a mint one). They always broke in shipping, which you can see here as well. Anyway, this was good for a crunchy granola bar, although personally, I prefer granola bars with a softer texture. If you like the hard/crunchy kind, though, these are worth checking out.

Bakery on Main Gluten Free Granola, Cranberry Almond Maple (1.1 oz) - Retail Value $1.29

I have definitely received this before as well. Bakery on Main is a gluten free brand but their food is not bad even if you do happen to eat wheat (which I do). They have mostly breakfast type items and some packaging that may appeal to kids. I don't mind having "regular granola," but if you have a dietary reason to avoid that, this could be a good substitute. The larger cup-shaped pieces do have a nice crunch.

Belgian Boys Mini Cookie Stash, Cookie Butter Cookies (1 oz) - Buy 5 bags for $9.70

These show up every couple of months. I have always preferred softer cookies but if you like crunchy cookies, they do taste good. I think there are other flavors out there but we always seem to receive these "cookie butter cookies," and no, I don't know why they have "cookie" in the name so many times. I guess because people might not recognize the word "speculoos," which is a word used for these in the Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg region of Europe.

Legendary Foods Tangy Ranch Seasoned Almonds (1.5 oz) - Buy 12 bags for $27.99

This was an actual new item. We've received another flavor of these repeatedly in this subscription and I did like that one, so I was excited for these. While I enjoyed them, being generally a fan of almonds with and without flavors, they did not have as strong a flavor as I was expecting based on the amount of powdered coating.

Daelman's Stroopwafel, Caramel (1 oz) - Buy 12 for $12 (found here for $10.50)

This shows up about as often as the mustache cookies, perhaps more often. Now, I do like a good stroopwafel, but I also kind of feel like I am running out of things to say about items after having eaten them 5 or 6 times. Despite being a repeat item, it did seem fresh, so I don't think they are just offloading old stock.

Mr. Nature Unsalted Trail Mix (1.1 oz) - Buy 1 pound for $3.25

We get this one a lot too. I don't really do outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking, but I can imagine this would be a good snack for those that do, because there is a combination of dried fruit with natural sugar for quick energy, and also a bit of protein and fat in the nuts for more sustained energy as well. If you are trying to control salt intake, this is unsalted, which is great.

Cooper Street Granola Cookie Bakes, Chocolate Cherry (1 oz) - Buy 15 for $18 (found here for $16)

This was a new item to me last month and it was my favorite item in the box then. It is still pretty good although of course the novelty has worn off. These smell and taste strongly of almond extract, which is one of my favorite scents and flavors ever. I also liked that this was fairly soft-textured, which I tend to prefer in baked goods, although that is a personal preference.

ZeeZee's Birthday Cake Soft Baked Bar (1.3 oz) - Buy 15 for $16.25 (found here for $14.50)

I feel like I have had this before as well. It has that artificial birthday cake flavor that I associate with various food items (protein powders, ice creams, protein bars, and other cookies) having "birthday cake" in the name. I think there were supposed to be sprinkles in this as I caught a hint of a few but the color may have washed out during manufacturing and storage. Or else there just weren't enough of them. ZeeZee's shows up quite often in this box, clearly a kid-oriented brand, but honestly their items are usually not too bad. (I don't have kids and tend to avoid kid food.)

Sunrype Fruit to Go, Apple Strawberry Watermelon (0.5 oz) - Buy 15 for $25.05 (found here for $20)

I don't know if we've received this specific flavor in the past but we have definitely received these fruit strips before. There's not much "watermelon" about this in my point of view, it is mostly a tangy apple flavor with a bit of color from the strawberries. It is VERY sticky. I feel like this is another kid-oriented item, or at least I haven't really been interested in snacks like this since I was a kid. It did taste good, but I would just as soon eat some dried or fresh fruit instead.

Skout Protein Bar, Chocolate Cherry (1.9 oz) - Buy 12 for $29.99

These have been making the rounds lately in the food subscription boxes, too. I swear, I have pretty much only received this flavor, but I like it a lot. Chocolate and cherry are almost always wins for me, and even better together. This does have a bit of a tendency to stick in your teeth and it's kind of chewy, but I mean the chewy part in a good way. This one is vegan, which is sometimes hard to come by in protein bars, as a lot of them use whey protein as a base for texture reasons, but this doesn't have any dairy-based ingredients.

Stryve Beef Biltong (2.25 oz) - Retail Value $6.99

I tend to mentally block out meat when it arrives so I can't say whether I've received this recently or not? I don't see any in my stash of meat sticks to leave in the office, anyway. If you like dried beef, this seems like a quality product based on poking around their website, but my husband was not a willing guinea pig. Anyway, if you avoid beef or other meat products, you probably want to line up a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member to pass the meat off to, as you get some nearly every single month.

Verdict: There were 15 items in the June 2020 Love With Food Deluxe Box for an average value of about $1.33 per item. There were very few new items this month -- almost every single one of these items has appeared in a Love With Food box in the past year. This is far more repeat items than usual. What that means to you sort of depends on what you want out of this box. If you are just looking for a few individual portions of snacks to have on hand, this is fine. If you are looking to do your reviews and cash in items to get free snacks of your choosing, this is also fine. If your main goal is discovering new snacks, though, this was not a good box for that, at least if you are a long-term subscriber.

 To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You’d receive July's box as your first box, but check the Love With Food shop if this box appeals to you, as sometimes past boxes will show up there.

Sorry, but when the review of a non-vegan food box begins with “I’m a Vegan! and oh by the way, no one in my life would stoop so low as to sample a Meat Stick (eek!) for you lowly readers whose clicks fuel our income, then perhaps it’s time for a different reviewer. Just silly!

I remember the good old days when Love with Food was about finding and trying new brands and snacks. Now it’s, I don’t know, advertising for these brands. I got some of these exact products in Love with Food 5 years ago.

Thank you for your review. Do you know if they were bought out by another company? I find that the quality has gone down. I used to subscribe to the regular box, then I cancelled because we couldn’t redeem our points as I’m in Canada. I resubscribed in December due to a good deal for the Gluten Free box and I find that I have at least 65% of repeat items each month so I wasn’t as excited to receive the box. I did sub for the 6 month deal, and this month was my last.

They were bought out by SnackNation awhile back (last year sometime, maybe?). I do feel that the repeats have increased since then.
